Pryor at practice, McFadden sidelined

The Raiders injury situation is a mixed bag in terms of who was able to practice Wednesday. Most important for the Raiders, quarterback Terrelle Pyror is on the field and showing no lingering effects from the right knee injury he suffered against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Running back Darren McFadden, wide receiver Juron Criner, offensive tackle Matt McCants and linebacker Kaluka Maiava are hurt badly enough to where they aren’t cleared to practice.
McFadden isn’t even on the field watching, whereas Criner, McCants and Maiava are present. Criner’s right shoulder is in a sling as a result of the injury he received in the Eagles game.
On the bright side, wide receiver Rod Streater and kicker Sebastian Janikowski are at practice and doing everything asked of them, at least in the early portion of practice, which bodes well for their playing Sunday against the New York Giants.
Also, receiver Andre Holmes is back on the field and healed enough to give his injured hamstring injury a test drive. He tweaked his hamstring in practice last week and wasn’t able to play against the Eagles.
Finally, backup offensive lineman Andre Gurode is on the practice field after missing significant time since he injured a quadriceps last month.

– Right offensive tackle Tony Pashos still hasn’t been cleared to practice. Therefore, it appears as if rookie Menelik Watson is in line to make his first NFL start Sunday, given Pashos and backup McCants aren’t even healthy enough to practice yet.
Watson replaced McCants early in the Eagles game and fared well in his first action in a regular-season game. He missed most of training camp with a calf injury and most of the first half of the regular season with knee and calf injuries.

– The Raiders worked out defensive ends Chris McCoy and Jermaine Cunningham and defensive tackles Frank Kearse and Will Tukuafu on Tuesday.
Cunningham and Tukuafu spent time with the 49ers this season. None of the four was signed by the Raiders. The fact they worked out all defensive linemen shows that there’s concern about the lack of pressure and depth at both positions.

The sure the album name “Island Smooth Reggae” has been taken. Might wanna check on that first.

  • RaidingTexas

It’s OK to complain about the refs. They screw up all the time, every game, every team. It’s the nonsense that the refs are rigging games against the Raiders that makes the Nation look bad.

  • hwnrdr

So Criner finally gets in and he gets hurt…
DMAC hurts his hamstring and is not practicing
Anything new??? Seems like a cycle with this team!
I wonder if Holmes could do anything at this point!

  • Raider-Fan-inKC

I’m a huge DMac fan. Even I’ll admit, it’s time to part ways with him in the offseason. Perhaps draft a mid-late round pick to back up Jennings

  • 10centsworth

“Smooth Reggae” sounds like elevator music for a treehouse.

  • rifflicks

    Missouri or Kansas?

  • 10centsworth

Ha. You reading this blog? And THAT is the most annoying aspect?

  • 10centsworth

Hey, I’m a fan. Just trying to “broaden” your base. BTW, I like ‘em fresh and eager. You get them when I’m done.

  • bcz24

I actually saw TP on the sideline Sunday checking out his right knee and trying to stretch and such. He actually did have a minor injury, it wasn’t an excuse to give him the hook. If we were in the game he would have continued, but both he and DA said that they had already decided to give McGloin some reps, so they didn’t need an excuse to put him in.

  • Just Fire Baby

Fair enough, I can roll with that. Want to complain about the refs, all refs, go ahead. Just make sure to acknowledge the times we get some calls (as we do) and not go foil hat on the rest of us.
(not saying you do that, just saying generally speaking).

  • 10centsworth

I’m of an age where I need them to remember. Its the word of mouth that keeps my social life jumping. That and I lie. they think I’m rich.

  • bcz24

I have always said there is no conspiracy against the Raiders, BUT the Raiders never get the benefit of the doubt on questionable calls either. I feel that has changed since DA came on board. 2 years running know and we are in the bottom third of penalties, and you are seeing some of those questionable calls go our way.

  • RaidingTexas

No matter what his previous mental health issues were, there’s no justification for what Incognito was saying in those voicemails and text messages.

  • loyal

I know about the cap problems and the “Seymours” on the team. But I’m starting to re-think letting Hue go. 8-8 gives you hope and I wonder how Hue would handle TP?

  • Nick Gancayco

Hue as an OC would probably have dmac rushing at around 5 yds per carry and strictly using pryor in play action to either throw for big uardage plays or run for big yardage. I dont know how hue will ever do again as a head coach. No denyin his ability to input and call offensive plays/schemes

  • Just Fire Baby

Sometimes perception is the only reality. We are a kinder, less abrasive organization now.
    It is what it is.

  • RaidingTexas

Yeah, that’s a cause and effect thing. When you’re a severely undisciplined team, as they were before DA arrived, you’re probably a lot less likely to get those marginal calls.

  • The_Judge37

They need to sit Nix already. #FTP

  • rifflicks

Hue might have had Pryor at WR already.

  • 10centsworth

Hmmm. It is a REAL shame nostalgia is Hue. One comment. A LOT of coaches have come and gone…and Hue? Still coaching running backs?

  • RaidingTexas

I’m fine with kinder, less abrasive. I have no doubt that some of that crap in 2011 and earlier took wins off the board. You can’t post record numbers of penalties and yardage and not have it cost you in the end.

  • Just Fire Baby

Hue went on camera, and admitted to giving what was later deemed PED’s, to players, specifically naming Ray Lewis and the Ravens. He had no reason to do the interview, with Mitch Ross of SWATS who later ended up in prison BTW, other than he got paid for it.
He will never be a HC again after that. Broke the code and namedropped for money.

  • SlashNHack

Would love have Hue as OC… Too bad he Got too Big for his own good. The guy can coach. We sadly miss the creativity and the risk taking and balls of Hue.

I do like the cool professionalism of DA and the wild and intense spirt of Tarver though

  • rifflicks

I like your take on Allen and Tarver

  • RaidingTexas

    And carrying the water pail.

  • rifflicks

What was Pryor’s Wonderlic score…did he do any better than Vince Young

  • The Beeeeech Dawg

Stop trying to be SlashNHack’s boyfriend

  • SlashNHack

Have to give them credit for creating a pro environment. We still don’t have top talent so it is what it is. I like that DA actually seems to stand behind his guys and believes in them.

  • KoolKell

What’s your Wonderlic score, and what are you doing with your time, dumbass?

  • RaidingTexas

Wow, school lets out early these days. Spoiled little kids.

  • 10centsworth

Ha. I’m betting his WonderLick is thru the roof.

  • rifflicks

What they’ve done eliminating “most” of the stupid penalties is pretty amazing too.

  • bcz24

As soon as Gurode is back that’s a done deal… which sounds like today.

  • SlashNHack

Yeah….10 year problem eradicated within less than a year

  • rifflicks

    how much???

  • The Beeeeech Dawg

    Brahs, awesome news!

My very own DVD copy of Gravity just arrived from my connection in the film industry!

Now the Dawg can spank the Lawg all day long to Miz Sandy Bullock in those awesome space booty shorts

Gotta get down to Costco quick and stock up on Gatorrade, gonna need plenty of electrolytes

KoolKell is the only person to ever get a negative wonderlic score -14

  • nolarick

I recognize that all of the words you used are in the English language, however, arranged in that way, I have no idea what you are attempting to say.

  • 10centsworth

Title: “Smooth HandJive in the PoopChute”.

  • RaidingTexas

More proof that Huebris was not head coach material. DA had mostly the same roster in his first season.

  • RaiderGuy50

yep- agree- its what you get when you jettison the check cashers and knuckle heads.

  • bcz24

They, like every other coach through the door said they weren’t going to accept it. They backed it up by getting rid of some of the biggest offenders (Stan Routt) and sticking to their guns and actually NOT accepting it.

  • RaidingTexas

He probably thought you were talking about his fascination with forced backside penetration of his girl when you said “rapier”.

  • 10centsworth

Or your lines are sitting on their ankles.

  • SlashNHack

Agree…. But Hue was cool…. Except for the pedicure thing of course

  • rifflicks

Never Mind….I Googled it Vince Young got a 9 on the Wonderlic and Pryor got a 7……that explains an awful lot

  • RaidingTexas

    And being drunk every morning.

  • The Beeeeech Dawg

Can you even hold hands with a girl without krapping your pants?

  • nolarick

And? Like you wouldn’t go running to Gloria Allred if you were in Martin’s situation?
