McGloin could be starter vs. Texans

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Friday, November 15th, 2013 at 11:31 am in Oakland Raiders.

Judging from the practice speed and body language of Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor during the media window Friday, Matt McGloin could well be the starter against the Houston Texans.

As the team went through drills, Pryor moved slowly and deliberately and mostly threw his passes at half-speed with no hard steps or authoritative throws. McGloin, by contrast, was doing repetitions at something closer to game speed and intensity.

The Raiders, 3-6, visit the Texans Sunday at Reliant Stadium.

Raiders coach Dennis Allen meets with the media following practice to give official injury designations. It’s conceivable Allen won’t divulge a starter Friday and simply list Pryor as questionable, meaning a 50-50 chance he could start.

In another development, right tackle Tony Pashos, who appeared on schedule to start after missing the last four games with a hip injury, was not on the field during the media window.

If Pashos doesn’t play, rookie Menelik Watson would make his second start at right tackle. Offensive coordinator Greg Olson Thursday sounded hopeful Pashos would play.

Sure would like to see more of Marcel Reece.

  • RediaR

The reigning hid and seek champ.

  • rifflicks

no…A QB that knows the WR’s routes and can hit them in stride would be a lot better than what we’ve seen so far this season

  • Dakota

    but you were on Pryor?

  • 10centsworth

Ha. Curious you missed The Snake. Took the job the year after LaMonica had a very good year…and the fans approved. Hey, I don’t like to second guess the coaches and THEIR jobs are riding on … something happening there. I don’t think we are far off in our thinking, but in fact, I’d like to see Pryor installed in the HOF in about 15 years and I think he could do that as a TE.

    don’t make me slap u.

re-sign Jerome Boyd. lure Rolando McClain out of retirement. we need a few bodies to double up on Andre Johnson!

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

    I think you need both.

  • the invincible dr robert

    perv

  • Raider_Riff

Until he has a full offseason in the same system, with the same OC, it’s really hard to judge his ability to grasp the system.

I’ll give him next year. Work ethic usually shines through.

Not to mention, if youre being honest, all this kid has done is overcome and exceed expectations. There is nothing that says he wont come back next season even better.

It’s not his fault that we as fans all of a sudden started expeting 135 passer ratings every game and were putting deposits down on playoff tix.

  • 10centsworth

Hey. I’m with you on that. It wasn’t you in particular I was talking about.

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

    What?
    Reece is a “perv”?!

  • RediaR

I tried but it was too heavy

  • the invincible dr robert

not MR, MO, u salacious studmuffin

  • RediaR

    close

  • Dakota

    Hands too small?

  • Raider O

    That sound dirty.
I still like TP, but he hasn’t played well the last few games. We need a plan B.

  • Raider_Riff

I like Pryor. I “want” to see him succeed.

But I’d be saying this about just about any QB we had.

And most idiot fans would be saying the opposite, regardless of throwing mechanics. They will give up on a player in a heartbeat.

Be honest, look at our track record with QBs. We give up on them really quick.

Years 1 & 2 with Gannon I was at all the games. He got boo’d plenty. And the list goes on and on.

JBust was getting boo’d his 2nd game into his 2nd season as a starter. Long before the purple drank stories came out. We gave him about 17 games and then started to pull the cord.

“Raider Fan” and NFL fans in general are too knee jerk.

  • the invincible dr robert

    That’s right everyone.
    I’ll say it again.
Some might think ur a total loser to sit on ur azz and post on a blog 24/7.
I prefer to think i’m more of a man the more time I spend blogging.
    embrace the dark side.

  • 10centsworth

I do not think he has exceeded expectations. I think we all knew what we were betting on here, a tremendous athlete that won a national title at a great football program. I think this. If the coaches have THAT confidence in him…I got no problem with that. I do and will root for him. Meanwhile…I hope McG takes the job. He is starting Sunday.

  • Raider O

Tahj Boyd. What about JLH and Kirk?

  • Dakota

I found what some in here were doing for Pryor very dirty.

  • the invincible dr robert

ur into circle jerks as well?
    awesome.
    what are u doing sat?

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

We live in a microwaveable society and the NFL is about as impatient of a organization as there is.

You raise a valid point in that we are too knee jerk as Raider fans.

  • Raider O

Some of us don’t need 6 season to find out our favorite players are not that good.

  • the invincible dr robert

if ur skin color thing wasn’t so small, maybe some wouldn’t laugh

The anonymous king of drivel speaks. Don’t have the kids for your weekend a year…again? Gotta keep up those pitiful support payments, yahoo. Meanwhile, you got my pity but not as much as the exes do. Keep smiling and cheering everyone up. You are good at it.

  • the invincible dr robert

    darn.
again, no one replying to me.
    I’m such a lonely fella

  • Raider_Riff

    Fair enough.

But you are lying if you say he hasnt exceeded expectations. He played better vs SD last year than thought.

The Colts game was a revelation.

And the SD game this year was shocking, even for me.

Running 93 yds vs Pitt was expected. I’ll give you that. But some of the passing numbers he’s hit this year are beyond even Priest’s expectations……PERIOD.

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

We need to Todd Christenenize Marcel Reece.

  • the invincible dr robert

Ok guys. Gay Dan Garcia will now be running around trying desperately to prove I’m a loser by posting extraordinarily gay things while obsessed with me. Enjoy.

Notice how many posts he has made as me. Obsessed with another man.

But he’s totally ripping on me. Hilarious right?

  • PlunkforHOF

    new post

  • 10centsworth

That would be a big start. He sure has taken on a lot of linebackers and has shown he has hands.

Making Todd a tightend sure worked out for him.

  • the invincible dr robert

u said u wanted to see more of him.
    kinky, no?

  • 10centsworth

    I’ll take TBA.

  • 2romes

Plunkhead and Blackholepriest are two steadfast predictors. Plunkhead’( Mr. Cojones), thanks mex.ghost, gets my number seed by predicting Wilson would tear it up when he gets his opportunity. Blackholepriest we know we’re he stand without a doubt. I will go with Blackholepriest in saying that Pryor will be a better fit for the Raiders right now. Again I am only agreeing with Blackholepriest that he is a better fit now nothing more. I know there are a lot of other strong opinions. Ready to go out on a limb?

  • 10centsworth

Don’t you just hate to explain a stupid joke? Then again…that’s all you do…and are.

  • Raider_Riff

He’s not changing positions. That is a pipe dream.

I dont know what to tell you. Some people see a 7 foot basketball player and think of what a great center he would make.

And if the guy can make 3 pointers they get frustrated at that. I think the “change TP to a TE” mentality is the same types that hate on Dirk Nowitzky instead of seeing the glass half full.

TP is a great athlete. Who can play QB. Why would you make it harder to get the ball into his hands?

You want the ball in your best players hands as much as possible.

  • 10centsworth

Then lets let this rest, and talk about Reece as a better example of what you just said.

  • the invincible dr robert

Lol. All ur posts are to me or about me.

    I win. Every time.

  • Dakota

His avatar is blurry just like the impostors…..

  • Dakota

    touche

  • Davy Jones

You’ve seen it in the Denver and SD games. He’s looked sh*tty in the last three games, no doubt. But either you missed the Denver and SD games, or you’ve seen it this season and are lying.

  • Raider_Riff

I think they are trying to get Reece the ball.

Jon Ritchie had some very valid points about Reece and why he’s not as explosive as we all remember him under Hue.

The transition to FB is hard on skill guys.

And teams are keying in on him. Lets not forget, when Reece was his most dangerous, Bush or DMC were killing the league so everyone was focused on one of those two.

Right now, everyone knows who our one and only weapon is other than Pryor. So they bracket Reece.

  • the invincible dr robert

    u dumbazz.
look at my last 50 posts. none are to u.
u, however, have followed me like a little whupped puppy.
get the corner fool, and quit stalking
