Bo knows fire, too, it appears

By Steve Corkran
Tuesday, November 19th, 2013 at 3:50 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Former Raiders running back Bo Jackson is going to light the Al Davis ceremonial torch before Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans at the Coliseum.
Jackson hasn’t spent much time around the Raiders since he retired after the 1990 season. He is the latest in a long line of big-name Raiders players and coaches from the past invited back by owner Mark Davis.
He played for the Raiders from 1987-90 and averaged 5.4 yards rushing before a hip injury ended his career. Jackson also played baseball for the Kansas City Royals before he moved on from the public eye.

    He’s not hurt.

D.J. Hayden is getting the treatment that is well needed. Giving him time to think about his game, watch tape, figure out where he went wrong, and find the inner strength to come back better with more confidence. A first round pick has everything to prove and all the staff has been doing is letting him show in the games if he is worthy of that pick, and by then it’s too late. Too much pressure came with that label.

Look at Marcus Cooper, and Nickell Robey, even Tyrann Mathieu.. Undrafted, barely drafted and released, a third rounder that got no love. And they’re outshining DJ in every aspect of the game.. It was wrong of Reggie to take him so high. I think Hayden could be a star in this league.. Just don’t agree he could have been a factor this year given the circumstances.

    Well said…

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

No options yet. Should be soon.

  • 24

    Yeah…next year.

Al Michaels hate Al Davis? Hmmm, somehow never really aware of that, other than it might have to do with Marcus, or, that pretty much all writers/commentators disliked Al Davis because of his penchant for privacy. I will tell you Marcus dug his own grave in Oakland, as Al Davis, in his way, had a strict moral code.Yeah. As liberal as he was.

Maybe they could put TP all over the field as a situational player with his athleticism but considering they can’t even do that with Marcel Reece…I seriously doubt it.

  • 10centsworth

Coaches, at all levels, do that.

  • RediaR

If players were defined by their rookie seasons the NFL landscape would be vastly different.

Rob Ryan was terrible with the Raiders, it’s not impossible to think that he’s improved since then but he’s been all around the league, so obviously that says something about him. He also has a great offense eating up the clock, so that doesn’t hurt his defense.

Trust you have your ark ready.

Not here. Close to the top of a hill. But those clouds can stack up against the Sierras and pound us.

I got my 12′ yacht. Critters on their own.

  • 10centsworth

I love those 12′ Whalers. Thinking about getting one.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Didn’t think there was such a thing for the Taj Jerrah. Even to get into the parking lot.

  • 10centsworth

Amazing, Pman, I think the “monitors” deleted my answer to this question. Could it have been my comment about writers disliking Al Davis because of his penchant for privacy?

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Sears. 11′ actually. Makes a good size trout look like a whale. Not that I’d know.

  • 10centsworth

all the crap on here and they delete that? If so, these guys are worse than I thought.

You’d know a Boston Whaler if you saw one. Great company, great boats. Inland and offshore.

  • 10centsworth

hmm, I also know that the news blogs “recycle” old comments when things slow down. Hey, could mean they think this post is RELEVANT? Confusion reigns.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

I know Boston Whalers. That’s why I clarified. I’m lucky I have two bench seats. If not helpful crossbracing and a place to stick the flotation foam, probably wouldn’t have.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

I still got it. Saved it to a previous post comment box. Will refresh and see if it disappears.

No, they aren’t cuz that’d be stupid.

They are easing Veldheer in by having him play with the second team.

When you screw up what do they always say? Short memory…
