Bo knows fire, too, it appears

Former Raiders running back Bo Jackson is going to light the Al Davis ceremonial torch before Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans at the Coliseum.
Jackson hasn’t spent much time around the Raiders since he retired after the 1990 season. He is the latest in a long line of big-name Raiders players and coaches from the past invited back by owner Mark Davis.
He played for the Raiders from 1987-90 and averaged 5.4 yards rushing before a hip injury ended his career. Jackson also played baseball for the Kansas City Royals before he moved on from the public eye.

That’s an easy one. Yes, on replacing Nix. Doesn’t matter who.

  • hwnrdr

    Oh gee…Hayden to IR? Wow

  • RediaR

That’s ironic because he went to OSU to be prepared for the NFL.

  • pryorSUCKS

McGloin is a gunslinger….just like favre…so expect some ints now an then….but he is a WINNER

  • willy91137

It’s supposed to stop by Sunday

  • https://twitter.com/MimiPeepeechimi Just Fire Baby

    No McNinny at practice.
Nobody draws out a hamstring injury like “20″

  • The_Judge37

DA was a good coordinator? He had the 20th ranked defense in his ONE year. Rob Ryan had Dallas Ranked 18th that same year.

Matt McGloin taking reps with first-team offense.

  • Davy Jones

I wonder if for Hayden, like Pryor, the injury issue is getting mixed with/being used as the public face for a confidence issue.

Matt McGloin taking reps with first-team offense.

  • R8erEduc8er

Yea I know. Went there for the playbook, but was winning by running around and throwing to wide open receivers. There was no need to develop as a pocket passer. He may never get there, but I still think it’s too early to convert.

  • RediaR

He has grown as a QB, but he started from such a low starting point that that doesn’t amount to much. I would just hate to see his athleticism wasted on the bench or at a position where he can’t fully take advantage of it. This off season, while he still has a year of contract left, is exactly when I would want him to switch.

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

    You beat me by seconds!

  • RaidingTexas

Could be. That beating he took in the Philly game might have put him in a bad place. Just speculation though.

Terrelle Pryor working with second team, as is Jared Veldheer.

  • RaidingTexas

That transatlantic cable is the problem.

  • RediaR

He had the defense that carried a Tebow lead offense to the 2nd round of the playoffs.

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

A totally unnecessary risk as I said on draft day.
Whoops. I meant to put an “un” in front and now I have.

  • the gayblade dr robert

    I’ll miss u, Terrell.’
almost as much as i miss my hemorrhoids.

  • R8erEduc8er

They’ll probably try to work in some wildcat, occasional read-option, trick plays, etc. to be a change of pace for the remainder of the season.

  • 24

That’s what I believed. It’s just coincidence that he “strained” something in practice. Please…we all know what happened. “Son…it’s time you take a break and reflect on your experiences and come back stronger the next time around.”

  • RediaR

    It’s not.

  • R8erEduc8er

I don’t thing Rob is HC material. Before this year, didn’t think highly of him as a DC. He must have found his fit in N.O.

  • RediaR

Sounds like a recipe for actually ruining a guy’s confidence.

You don’t take time to reflect about getting burned, you learn how to not let that happen again and put it behind you. That is what they mean when they say that DBs and QBs need to have short memories.

  • 24

But that’s your opinion. Coaches do this all the time, whether it’s right or wrong. They’re the coaches and they know the player/person better than we do. Rex Ryan did it with Milliner this year as well. It’s not uncommon. When a guy is hurting the team, he shouldn’t be on the field anyways, regardless of confidence.

  • willy91137

Veldheer will play in Dallas they’re probably working on two different game plans one for Dallas one for Tennessee

  • RediaR

We didn’t draft him for his rookie season we drafted him for a career.

  • R8erEduc8er

2 of the worst defenses last year.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Groins can linger. No jokes necessary.

  • R8erEduc8er

    Didn’t see that one coming…

  • 24

    Let’s hope McGloins can too…

  • 24

They don’t work on 2 different game plans at a time.

  • RediaR

Yeah. My point is you can still do that, but have him on the field as a WR the rest of the plays. At least next year. Too late this year probably.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Hah! I take it back! That one was necessary.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

I hope not. One game at a time.

  • AutumnThunderstorm

new post, three stories in one

  • RaidingTexas

Man I can’t wait for that game. Trying to find reasonably priced tix, but I may be watching from the comfort of home.

  • R8erEduc8er

Extreme health issues? Is the groin injury related to his freak accident?

  • aig-raiders

Wonder why thye love Nix so much.

McFadden is working with trainer on side. Looking almost spry

  • 24

I’m in San Diego, soaking in the sun. No…I’m really sitting on my computer inside my place with the shutters closed, who am I kidding? haha

  • 24

    When your b@lls hurt…your b@lls hurt…

  • 24

Yeah…looking almost spry until he gets hit on the field….then, pulled hamstring again…

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Yes. He pulled his abdominal groin.

  • 24

We’ve got pulled hamstring and pulled pork…

  • RediaR

That is called benching a guy who isn’t performing. What you are suggesting is creating a fake injury and not even having the confidence in him to let it be known he’s benched.

Hayden (and everybody) had a bad game against Philly. But other than that he had been steadily improving in the previous weeks.

  • 24

And we’re not the coaches so if the guy get’s pulled, they know something we don’t.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Am I in for a deluge here in the foothills?

  • 24

    Flash flood?

  • 24

Sparano must see something in him.
