Final: Titans 23, Raiders 19

Sunday, November 24th, 2013 at 4:16 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Ryan Fitzpatrick threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Kendall Wright with 10 seconds to play to give the Tennessee Titans a 23-19 win over the Raiders Sunday at O.co Coliseum.

The score capped an 80-yard touchdown drive in 14 plays after the Raiders had gone up 19-16 on Matt McGloin’s 27-yard touchdown pass to Marcel Reece.

The Titans improved to 5-6 and remained in what looks to be a race for the sixth and final wild card spot, as with the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins also losing Sunday to fall to 5-6.

The Raiders, who seemed on the verge of winning consecutive games for the first time since Oct. 21 and 28 of last season, fall to 4-7 and have little time to think about it as they visit Dallas on Thanksgiving Day.

Place kicker Sebastian Janikowski had field goals of 52, 48, 24 and 42 yards, but had misses from 32 and 48 yards which could have meant the difference in the game.

The Titans scored early in the third quarter on a 54-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Justin Hunter. Hunter not only broke free in the area of cornerback Phillip Adams and safety Brandian Ross, but juked both men to turn a medium-depth completion into a big-play touchdown.

Tennessee also got field goals of 33, 22 and 23 yards from Rod Bironas.

Tennessee quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 30 of 42 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns.

Raiders quarterback Matt McGloin, kept out of the end zone in the third quarter, was 18 of 30 for 254 yards with the touchdown pass to Reece and one interception. .He had four passes batted down at the line of scrimmage.

I am not one of those calling for his head yet…but this second string team came in with the same record as Titans and had the lead late.
DA is defensive minded HC. The team held Fitz in check.
    Until it mattered most.
This isn’t a case of being overmatched by a superior opponent. It’s about your supposed strength (defense) choking away another game and allowing a backup journeyman QB to drive the field and beat you when everything was on the line.
We’re talking Ryan friggin Fitzpatrick here.

You guys continue to blame this solely on the defense when we were in the redzone 6 times and scored ONE TD!!!!

The game should’ve been out of reach……..period

  • Blackholepriest

It took until late in the 4th qrtr to get in the endzone!!!!

No one other myself sees an issue with this, are you soo blindly in love with McG that this doesn’t bother you???
