Final: Titans 23, Raiders 19

Ryan Fitzpatrick threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Kendall Wright with 10 seconds to play to give the Tennessee Titans a 23-19 win over the Raiders Sunday at O.co Coliseum.

The score capped an 80-yard touchdown drive in 14 plays after the Raiders had gone up 19-16 on Matt McGloin’s 27-yard touchdown pass to Marcel Reece.

The Titans improved to 5-6 and remained in what looks to be a race for the sixth and final wild card spot, as with the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins also losing Sunday to fall to 5-6.

The Raiders, who seemed on the verge of winning consecutive games for the first time since Oct. 21 and 28 of last season, fall to 4-7 and have little time to think about it as they visit Dallas on Thanksgiving Day.

Place kicker Sebastian Janikowski had field goals of 52, 48, 24 and 42 yards, but had misses from 32 and 48 yards which could have meant the difference in the game.

The Titans scored early in the third quarter on a 54-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Justin Hunter. Hunter not only broke free in the area of cornerback Phillip Adams and safety Brandian Ross, but juked both men to turn a medium-depth completion into a big-play touchdown.

Tennessee also got field goals of 33, 22 and 23 yards from Rod Bironas.

Tennessee quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 30 of 42 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns.

Raiders quarterback Matt McGloin, kept out of the end zone in the third quarter, was 18 of 30 for 254 yards with the touchdown pass to Reece and one interception. .He had four passes batted down at the line of scrimmage.

It’s regression compared to 2011, can’t argue that

  • Back-N-Black

I don’t give 2 $hits about McGloin today. Whatever he did, he put us ahead in the game. The defense got beat like Tina Turner on 3rd down all day and the drunk fata$$ kicker needs to be released.

  • DJ Johnny

I don’t blame McGloin at all. In fact I think it’s a dam shame the defense choked this away from him.
McGloin was the hero who was clutch in throwing that late TD. He got better as the game went along.
When I say “regression” i’m speaking from where they are now compared to where they were earlier in the season.
DA is a defensive minded coach and his defense has gotten worse and worse.

  • 0ak R8rs

Yea. We should bring back Seymour and Huff and DVD and Gio and CJ and Aso. Oh wait…….

  • GotNext

Until we have a franchise QB, the rest doesn’t matter. Look at GB since Rodgers went down. We can talk about receivers, and line play, and coaching decisions and anything else people want to complain about, but QB is the issue. So yes, I would draft one until we find the guy.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Maybe I shouldn’t have told Duck you 53, Gdog.

  • EMRaiders

I would say first let’s see what McGloin can do the rest of the season. Our playoffs hopes are pretty much gone, so it’s a perfect time to evaluate our players in the remaining games. If McG can improve on his past two performances, then you know you may have something, if he regresses then you know you need to look. But not just dismiss who you have right now.

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

    Oops.

  • Mistic1 Tha Supavillain

The raiders have zero playmakers on offense outside of Pryor. This game was like the Pitt game, & all the raiders needs was 1 difference maker on offense, but no Allen benched him in an attempt to

  • 0ak R8rs

Obviously every team would love to have a franchise QB. But today’s loss had very little to do w the QB. We had way bigger problems today in other areas.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    Hah!

  • GotNext

It had everything to do with the QB. McGloin game managed us to 19 points (right on our season average). The crappy Jags QB’s put 29 on the Titans. With a top-tier QB the game is not close at the end and we’re not depending on Jano’s fat butt to bail us out.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    No love for Routt?

  • Stabler

Thomas smokes a LOT of weed and is a clown, ask his buddies at Crenshaw High in Compton. Will be a major disappointment in the pros.

  • 0ak R8rs

No it hasn’t. Defense basically won us the game just last week. Defense let us down today. So did sea perch. And Fitzpatrick played a perfect game (for him). Probably his best game in 2 years. It’s not regression. We lost. The Ravens lost 7 games last year as beat us by 40. We haven’t regressed.

  • Back-N-Black

Should have put Pryor in on defense then. Maybe he could have made a stop on 3rd down. Oh, and since he’s such a playmaker, he can kick FGs too.

  • DJ Johnny

You want to get better as the season rolls on..not worse.
That’s what this team is doing…getting worse.
    The defense especially.

  • EMRaiders

If Jano’s fat butt would’ve made those FGs, McG’s “game” would’ve managed us 25 pts. Above our average. A Qb can only do so much.

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

How would you know? Didn’t you say you were boycotting the Raiders until Pryor was starting again?

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Ima tell Ike you said that.

  • Back-N-Black

What kind of lame excuses did our HC come up with for today?

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Thought they won today with flynn?

  • 0ak R8rs

That’s a wonderful supposition w no basis in fact. Nothing but “would ofs” and “ifs”.

  • EMRaiders

I know, “we didn’t execute on third down…..we need to get better….our D needs to make plays….etc…”

    but nothing about the coaching.

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

No cap space until next year, and you know it.

  • The_Civilian_James_Trapp

How’s the new school working?…That’s right, don’t answer that Grimmace & Denise suck

  • DJ Johnny

You guys can go ahead and enjoy this but I can’t.
4-7 and getting worse is what I see.
Can’t celebrate this “improved’ defense that can’t find a way to stop a 4-6 team from scoring on a long game winning drive at home with Ryan friggin Fitzpatrick sticking the final dagger in your rear end with 10 secs left.
Impossible to feel good about that but if you guys can more power to you.

  • 0ak R8rs

We’ve gotten better all year. Not game by game. But this was chalked up as a loss by most 8 weeks ago. It’s a game we should have won. It happens. Fitzpatrick had the game if his life. All if a sudden he played like he played two years ago. Whatever.

  • The_Civilian_James_Trapp

It doesn’t matter to them dude. They’re so glad that Al Davis is dead that they will defend this dipchit at all cost

  • Mistic1 Tha Supavillain

Looks like Dallas is going to be ugly this thanks – taking holiday , & Allen Olson Mac benchwarmer will be the turkeys

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    I started,but I just can’t go downyour rat hole.

  • The_Civilian_James_Trapp

Want to see a new GM who can draft

  • R8drTahoe in SF

Win lose or tie, Raiders fan till I die.

  • 0ak R8rs

How’s the old school working? Garbage, all of them. We r getting better all the time. And still $50 million under the cap. Reggie said we’d be competitive. And we r.

I notice you have nothing to say about our cast off garbage? Where r they now??

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

That’s probably not an ‘exact’ quote and without that he squirms away.

  • The_Civilian_James_Trapp

Ahhh, that’s why you’re defending these chit decisions. You’re a punk who hated Al and loves failure as long as it’s not Al

  • The_Civilian_James_Trapp

And they are still blaming Al…always will

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Be sure to watch. And feel free to keep lurking here. No need to comment.

  • 0ak R8rs

Well they could both be upgraded. But I think they have both played pretty well. Most guys around here wanted Porter run out of town before he even played a game. Pretty much every position could be better. That’s what happens when you have no money and have to spend 18 months clearing out garbage from your roster.

  • The_Civilian_James_Trapp

Seabass doesn’t suck, go look at his career dip chit

  • Back-N-Black

yeah, I’m getting sick of the excuses too. Its the NFL. Put up or shut up. Bottom line, Dennis Allen can’t get the job done. His press conference BS today just makes me want to punch him in the face.

  • funnyfalcon

Moving around after 3-5 seconds in the pocket maybe. The rush wasn’t good particularly on the last two drives.

  • The_Civilian_James_Trapp

Then WTF are you celebrating? Jesus christ. You guys hate Al so much that losing with Grimmace somehow shows promise.

  • EMRaiders

True, I just think that if we want to keep one of them, it should be Porter.

  • AutumnThunderstorm

    Amen

  • 0ak R8rs

As does the rest of the league and anyone that knows anything about football. Name one expert that says Reggie is doing a bad job w what he’s had to work with in the last two years compared to the disaster Al created over the last 20. One expert, besides the couple of geniuses like yourself on this board.

Btw, missed you the last week or so. Glad you could stop by after a loss. Like usual….. You and your agenda Couldn’t be happier.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Be reasonable Oak. We just gotta keep bringing new QB’s in until one of them shows us in two games he’s a ‘top tier’ ‘franchise’ QB. Shouldn’t take long or cost much.

  • AutumnThunderstorm

    doesn’t feel good at all,
    Raiders though have improved,
we are missing players we haven’t had in over a decade

  • 0ak R8rs

    He sucked today. Thanks Al.
