Final: Chiefs 56, Raiders 31

The Raiders officially exited the playoff race Sunday courtesy of Jamaal Charles, who scored five touchdowns in a 56-31 win by the Kansas City Chiefs at O.co Coliseum.

In falling to 4-10, the Raiders were buried under an avalanche of turnovers, with Matt McGloin throwing four interceptions and the Raiders losing a pair of fumbles on a poor shotgun snap from center and on a kickoff return by Taiwan Jones.

The Raiders finished with seven turnovers in all, as Terrelle Pryor threw a late interception to Ron Parker.

Charles, a running back who the Raiders have been able to handle on the ground, destroyed the Oakland defense with touchdown receptions of 49, 39, 16 and 71 yards from Alex Smith and also had a 1-yard touchdown run.

Kansas City, which clinched a playoff berth at 11-3, also got a 6-yard touchdown pass from Smith to Sean McGrath and a 17-yard touchdown run from Knile Davis. It was the most points ever scored against the Raiders.

The Raiders have kept Charles in check on the ground, but found covering him on pass plays next to impossible. Charles finished with eight receptions for 195 yards and scored his first three touchdowns on perfectly executed screen passes.

Smith finished 17 of 20 for 287 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions before giving way to Chase Daniel with the game safely in hand.

The Raiders, who got within 35-31 in the third quarter after trailing 35-10, had two 1-yard run by running back Rashad Jennings and touchdown passes of 18 and 14 yards by Matt McGloin to Andre Holmes and Mychal Rivera.

Sebastian Jankiowski also kicked a 34-yard field goal.

McGloin finished 19 of 37 for 297 yards but left in the fourth quarter after being poked in the eye. He twice left while healthy in favor of Pryor.

No, to Shaw…. besides, he has publicly said that he has no intention of coaching at the NFL level…

  • 24

    Yeah….listen to Jesus…

  • RaiderLen

Virtually all of His Highlights are runs, or throwing off His back foot after having extended a play, or throwing on the run.

Great attributes. but not the meat and potatoes of what constitiutes a great NFL QB.

I need to see Him operate in a Pro style offense that requires timing and working up in the pocket.

Great intangibles, but no body of work that demonstrates 1st rnd consideration where the Raiders will draft.

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

And THAT right there, bringing in Marx, was an example of desperation. How is being saddled with Grossman/Orton any different than the situation in which our coaches find themselves with two raw qbs? And, didn’t Lovie have a voice in getting those qbs?

  • Dakota

If you suddenly have a clear path to the QB……there is probably something happening behind you!

  • Rico Stifler

Moss bombed his interview. that is why he wasn’t hired over DA

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

You sound as if you have a real man-crush.

  • LB32

MD needs to hire a professional manager. he was talking to that guy from the NFL office. He needs to bring him in over RM.

  • Big Tom ‘the hand’ Cable

    New post ladies.

  • scinfidel

Who’d of thought that the Chiefs would have used Jamaal Charles soooo much?? Oh yeah, everyone but Tarver and DA?? What were they game planning for?? Seriously, who scares you on that roster besides Charles??? Soooooo effing embarrassing, I’m ill

  • tuckrulefool

    zzzzzzz….excuses….

As HC the buck stops with YOU. Incl choices at QB and other skill positions.

Also, is your lone retort that I am a ‘dumbass’ when I disagree and point out flaws in your “unassailable crystalline logic”?

  • 0ak R8rs

    LMFAO!

  • Jim Jesus

Um! Wait it’s right on the tip of my tongue! FVCKING SCREEN, SCREEN, SCREEN, Heads UP, here it comes.

  • RaiderCDE

To get burned by the same play 3 TIMES in one game for TD”s when you got burned the previous week on the same FRIGGN play – when you give a franchise record 8 TDS at HOME – when you go 4-12 back to back and give up 35+ points a game in the last half of each of those seasons! Gotten blown out 5 of last 7 losses. Watching this loser in the pressers, can you imagine what the players must think?

Fire DA tonight! Promote Sporano and give him a couple games. Put a fire under every azz on the staff and team and let them know this sht will not stand!!!!

  • the authoritative dr robert

i played little league with jay.

  • Rico Stifler

I am not sure how much sway he had with the GM in terms of the drafts in Chicago. Rex Grossman was an injury-prone and turnover-prone QB. Sound familiar? But yeah, he never got the offense going the way he wanted to.

  • Jim Jesus

I am down with this plan. I said fire his azz at halftime.

  • 24

I believe Wilson got cut from the team so he’s no longer on the roster.

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

Something else: I have a problem with the storied Oakland Raiders employing a head coach named Lovie.

  • Dakota

Please never mention Sporano again. Ever see that guys press conferences? About as clueless as Cable!

  • Goldie7

I bet this poor attempt of a game executed by our Raiders players killed the majority of the fans’ buzz at O.co stadium.

  • RaidO

“The Raiders surrendered the most points in franchise history — they gave up 55 to the Baltimore Ravens last season,”

    Fire DA!

  • 24

Agreed…Sporano does one thing right…just let him focus on that alone. Keep him on the staff as the offensive line coach. Period!

  • Jim Jesus

    There aint enough buzz LOL

  • Davy Jones

    Draft a QB!!!

  • Rico Stifler

I can look past the name. lol. I think he was named after his aunt or something. lol

  • r8ter4evr

I have told friends before we have the curse of Marcus like the Red Sox with the Bambino thought it was broke when he lit the torch guess not

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

Saw a lot of games like this back in the old AFL days, the difference being the Raiders usually came out on top.

  • Rico Stifler

You have not pointed out any flaws, dumbass. Also, i don’t see any excuses in my post. I posted what happened.

  • tuckrulefool

Not surprising with a name like LOVIE after all! Whats funny is I agree with Mr I am 100% right about Zimmer as a real option. Cant talk about that though with all the LOVE for LOVIE crowding everything else out!

  • the authoritative dr robert

the qb with the biggest salary for our team had 300 yards and 4 tds today in a big road win.

    told ya.

  • Rico Stifler

Nah, i just think that lovie could have a big impact as HC for us. I wanted to hire him as HC ever since he was let go by the Bears.

  • tuckrulefool

I said that as well and Im a dumbass. Be careful or Ric0 will saddle you with the dumbass title too! lol…

  • 24

Could someone break down every McGloin interception and list why it happened and who’s at fault for it?

  • scinfidel

He’s a guy that makes all his teammates better, he makes his coach look smarter and he keeps his team in every game. I’m a believer in ‘winners’, no disrespect I hear your analysis but I’m a believer in intangibles.

  • Jim Jesus

    Did Zona win?

  • Rico Stifler

No, cuz I actually respect what he has to say, unlike you.

  • The_Civilian_James_Trapp

Did you work on the Obama and/or George Bush re-election campaigns?

  • the authoritative dr robert

yes. but i was referring to flynn.

either one. but our HC/GM chose pryor.

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

Speaking of fans at the stadium, bless their little hearts, but I’m sick of my team being associated with guys in gorilla costumes, chains around their necks, and all manner of circus level visuals. That’s always a sign of a team associated with losing. Fans entertained by quality football teams don’t need to entertain themselves that way. I’m tired of the “freak connection.”

  • 24

That made me realize how many QB’s we have out there…

  • Rico Stifler

I don’t think he’d go back to Moss after he bombed the interview the first time around… Plus, he could still be bitter about RM passing over him for DA..

  • tuckrulefool

You sound a LOT like KK….im thinking RiKKO should be your new handle

  • RaidO

Go be a GB fan then

  • Goldie7

    told us what?

  • the authoritative dr robert

u miss the point as usual. our HC made a ridiculous choice.

  • Jim Jesus

GB my bad, so used to it being Palmers fault, last I looked GB was down 27-3

  • r8ter4evr

Bet DeLasalle QB could light up Dallass for 300 and 4tds also Mclown and Flynnstone Love some Dallas. De

  • the authoritative dr robert

that flynn was better than pryor.
