Final: Chiefs 56, Raiders 31

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, December 15th, 2013 at 5:34 pm in Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders officially exited the playoff race Sunday courtesy of Jamaal Charles, who scored five touchdowns in a 56-31 win by the Kansas City Chiefs at O.co Coliseum.

In falling to 4-10, the Raiders were buried under an avalanche of turnovers, with Matt McGloin throwing four interceptions and the Raiders losing a pair of fumbles on a poor shotgun snap from center and on a kickoff return by Taiwan Jones.

The Raiders finished with seven turnovers in all, as Terrelle Pryor threw a late interception to Ron Parker.

Charles, a running back who the Raiders have been able to handle on the ground, destroyed the Oakland defense with touchdown receptions of 49, 39, 16 and 71 yards from Alex Smith and also had a 1-yard touchdown run.

Kansas City, which clinched a playoff berth at 11-3, also got a 6-yard touchdown pass from Smith to Sean McGrath and a 17-yard touchdown run from Knile Davis. It was the most points ever scored against the Raiders.

The Raiders have kept Charles in check on the ground, but found covering him on pass plays next to impossible. Charles finished with eight receptions for 195 yards and scored his first three touchdowns on perfectly executed screen passes.

Smith finished 17 of 20 for 287 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions before giving way to Chase Daniel with the game safely in hand.

The Raiders, who got within 35-31 in the third quarter after trailing 35-10, had two 1-yard run by running back Rashad Jennings and touchdown passes of 18 and 14 yards by Matt McGloin to Andre Holmes and Mychal Rivera.

Sebastian Jankiowski also kicked a 34-yard field goal.

McGloin finished 19 of 37 for 297 yards but left in the fourth quarter after being poked in the eye. He twice left while healthy in favor of Pryor.

Oh Ok. Another gem…Keep it going RiKK0.0

  • 24

Flynn didn’t exactly help himself during his 1 game chance.

  • the authoritative dr robert

don’t be ridiculous. it’s the nfl. it counts.

our HC chose the worst possible qb.

  • FourMoreYears

    1. Pryor
    2. Pryor
    3. Al Davis
    4. The salary cap

    Am I doing this right?

  • The_Civilian_James_Trapp

    That’s what Palmer did today?

  • 24

And let’s be real…Flynn is only proving that he’s a system QB because he’s been terrible everywhere but the Packers.

  • the authoritative dr robert

flynn. but palmer was stupid decision #1.

  • tuckrulefool

    lol nice one!

  • 24

You forgot to mention Palmer, otherwise you’re spot on…lol

  • rioderek

Shaw, Whistenhunt, Lovie Smith, Del Rio are good starts. No retreads with losing track records or unknown trial dummies like DA

  • the authoritative dr robert

no he hasn’t. he was pretty solid with seattle when he played. he was good the first two games with us an only threw the ball 5 times in game 3. his wash debacle game is better statistically than 7 of 9 of pryor’s starts. he never played for buff. he’s doing well in GB. horrible evaluation ability by DA.

  • the authoritative dr robert

34 points in the 2nd half.

  • Rico Stifler

    You like Horton too? Crap….

  • the authoritative dr robert

somewhere in alameda, kell is staring at an error message on his computer and calling it a dumbazz.

  • FourMoreYears

Plot twist: Obama IS George Bush.

  • 0ak R8rs

You and those 3 rings. Well here’s a news flash. SCREW THOSE 3 RINGS. You think KC fans walk around grateful for Hank Stramm in 1968 or whatever? It’s been over 30 YEARS since our last championship. I don’t give a sht about those anymore, and neither does anyone else. Al gets some grace from me for turning this franchise into a joke because of this 3 rings. But it doesn’t mean he didn’t turn us into the laughing stock Of the league. And this three 3+ decade old rings dont excise it either. Fck those rings I don have a single kid that was born the last time we got one. 911, The challenger disaster, the Gulf War, George w Bush Sr., Road House w Patrick Swayze. All things that have happened SINCE the last time we won something.

  • 24

Just because a QB plays well for one team, doesn’t mean he can do the same for another. Not every QB can play in any system or on every team. Flynn was beaten by Russell Wilson, beaten by Pryor, had a chance with Buffalo when they had no QB’s and couldn’t even stick and now he’s with the team he had success with….System QB.

  • Rico Stifler

My god.. I am nothing like that loser KK… I don’t get drunk and make death threats while calling everyone a cracker…

  • Rico Stifler

That’s what I have been saying! lol. I have been referring to him as Baby Leaf…

  • rioderek

Firing Hue was the initial indication RM was/is clueless

  • tuckrulefool

After today. Sadly I’m on board. We need a LT QB. With RM’s bust rate in top of draft I’m very nervous…we could have another 5 down years if he f’s it up…

  • Rico Stifler

Plenty of pass rushers in FA… I’d sign both Hardy and Bennett… Pass rush fixed…

  • 2romes

That will never change. I think I understand where your heart is but do think that will help us on the field?

  • Rico Stifler

Manziel is the definition of a primadonna… he’d be a headcase for any team that drafts him..

  • 0ak R8rs

Correct. But don’t tell him that. His entire self worth is predicated on being right.

Our mad scientist has turned out to be a boy with a chemistry set

  • funnyfalcon

    That win was more:

    1. Romo sucking (2 bad interceptions when it counted most).

    2. Dallas defense playing like we knew they would (even we scored big points on them).

Just like the 4 TD game against the Lions without a starting CB, it was handed over on a silver plate. Give it a rest.

  • Rico Stifler

That’d be Tarver…. It was actually, 3rd and 19, but still. In a situation like that, you could just rush four and play man.

  • 24

Too bad our defensive line can’t get pressure and our DB’s can’t play man long enough.

  • 24

    With backup players.

  • 24

A mad scientist could use some mad talent.

  • the authoritative dr robert

nope. he’s better than pryor, quit trying to say stuff that happens doesn’t count, and stuff that doesn’t happen was someone else’s fault.

  • Rico Stifler

Wilson is back on the practice squad, so he can be activated..

  • the authoritative dr robert

never beaten out by pryor at all. stupidity.

  • Rico Stifler

WE did get to Smith several times during the game though….

  • 24

Ok…he’s better than Pryor. Yay you win. Now move on.

  • tuckrulefool

Id like to give Tarver more time and better players.

However DA is gone…and with him Tarver…Whoever comes in will want his own DC. The old days of Al Davis picking a HC and leaving all coaches in tact is long gone (as it should be imo)…

  • http://AdvoCare.com/ Till death do us part

Coach Allen , we were wondering how you feel about giving up the most points ever in franchise history ? ” well , that’s what happens when you turn the ball over 7 times , but I’m very proud of these guys the way they fought ba….. Oh fuuuu2k it !!!! We suck ok ! Is that what you want to here? Suuuuuuuck fn suuuuuuuuck

  • the authoritative dr robert

no cuz it’s part of DA’s record. it counts. he made a horrendous decision and he has to answer for it.

  • 24

    Ah…

  • Rico Stifler

Hate to say it, but Charles helped me get two teams into the title game in FF. lol

  • 24

Well you gotta look forward to something in football at least.

  • The_Civilian_James_Trapp

    SCREW THOSE 3 RINGS.

    =================

All that you needed to say….Laughable, and without those rings we are the Detroit Lions of the league…or the Chargers, but hey “screw those rings”

Oh and most queef fans I know who knew who Hank Stram was are grateful for him.

  • Rico Stifler

No, I see him more like Nancy screaming Whhhhhhhyyyyyy?!?!?!!?!?

  • Rico Stifler

I support Hayden 100%. i think he can be a real impact player.

  • 24

I still thank Ron Wolf for those rings…thanks Ron! When he left, the Raiders success went with him.

  • Rico Stifler

Yeah. I have five other teams still in the playoffs but not sure how many others also won or will win….

  • 2romes

Yes, if you can’t smell the fish as it is cooking you don’t want to. Everybody’s better than Pryor. We ALL KNOW DOC. If you want a fair evaluation of Pryor go see DOC.

  • 24

He proved that at times but he had rookie moments naturally. I think people are more mad at RM for the big picture and even the small moves are going to be criticized more harshly because of it. Only winning will cure this.

  • http://AdvoCare.com/ Till death do us part

Dr , I need help. I have extreme embarrassment syndrome
