Raiders lose another quarterback

The Tennessee Titans signed rookie quarterback Tyler Wilson from the Raiders practice squad and placed him on their 53-man, active roster, the Raiders confirmed.
Teams are permitted to make offers to players on other teams’ practice squads, as long as acquired players are placed on the 53-man roster.
In turn, players can turn down an overture from another team or that player’s current team can entice him to stay by offering him more money to remain on the practice squad.
The Raiders selected Wilson in the fourth round of this year’s NFL draft. He showed some promise during offseason workouts but failed to build upon his early success.
As a result, the Raiders waived Wilson at the end of training camp. A short time later, the Raiders re-signed Wilson and placed him on their practice squad. They waived him midway through this season, as well, only to re-sign him to the practice squad again.
Both times, no team claimed Wilson off waivers. Now, the Titans opted to take a chance on Wilson, given their bleak situation at quarterback.
The Raiders signed defensive back Johnny Adams and placed him on their practice squad in a corresponding move.

Because they want the door slammed shut on TP. If TP comes out in week 17 and somehow miraculously play like he did versus SD…..uh-oh

  • RaidingTexas

I already told you why. I don’t want to watch the same stupid play over and over.

  • Gdog

They should not be in the NFL then… maybe a college division 2 team as a resume upgrade??

  • RaidingTexas

Why doesn’t it happen with McGloin then? Same coaches on the sideline communicating with him. Yet he doesn’t have trouble getting the plays off. Graspin’ at straws here ….

  • Raider O

    Why? To save DA?
Lose a chance to draft a guy like Barr, to keep Titty Monkey another year?
    Pass!

  • RaidingTexas

Then miraculously they know what to call when McGloin is out there? LOL you guys just kill me.

  • Gdog

You enjoy watching pick-sixes instead? (psssttt, all they are doing now is jumping McGloins routes)…

  • plunkhead

but he rolls a nice blunt
    SPICE SPICE BABY

  • R8erEduc8er

    Vastly different playbook.

  • The Beeeeech Dawg

    Barr is an animal

He partied at the Beeeech Pad a few months ago and drank more margaritas then all of the dudes in Sugar Ray put together

Mark McGrath is a total lightweight, btw. He drank 2 margs from the PARTYDUDE 8000 and tried to hump my beanbag

  • Gdog

Keep the entire staff intact, or fire the entire staff. (Letting the new guys have a clean slate).

  • 2romes

Well, do you see that really happening. SD Maybe would be a better possibility.

  • RaidingTexas

I’ll take the pick sixes if the offense can still manage 31 points. I do not want to watch the guy that provided us with 3 TDs (only one passing btw) and 8 INTs in five games.

  • Raider O

Fire the entire staff. A lot of them have expiring contracts.

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

It was McG’s audible that gave the ball to Reece for his rumbling td.

  • Davy Jones

Unlikely unless the Pats drop another game.

  • Gdog

McGloin’s PFF passing ratings vs Chiefs was as bad as anything Pryor has done… and he can’t run worth a sheet.

If McGloin face plants again vs SD (which is almost a certainty) you at least start the guy that can run vs Den.

What part of this do you not understand?

  • Raider O

Lol, ok. He can play STs.

  • RaidingTexas

Right. It’s a much SMALLER playbook for TP. The issue isn’t on the coaching side.

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

It doesn’t have to mean he’s stupid. It does mean he doesn’t process the info necessary for THIS skill called quarterbacking.

  • Gdog

TPs best game actually was vs Den… his second half drives were amazing.

    Watch it on NFL Replay.

  • Raider O

That’s it. Draft Barr. Endorsed by The PMPP.

  • Davy Jones

A third rounder and an UDFA. Draft a QB round one.

  • Gdog

I am FINE with that. Best case scenario, actually. However, it seems RM’s job is safe…

  • https://twitter.com/MimiPeepeechimi Just Fire Baby

He has actually never scored a TD in like 60 career touches but fumbled 3 times.
Lots of risk, not much reward.

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

Do you think Tim Tebow should still be q-backing the Broncos?
Tebow is virtually the same player as TP, just a different type of running style. TP is a fluid, graceful runner with long strides; Tebow was a Steve Young, herky, jerky, elusive, strong enough runner to break tackles.
Both qbs had temporary successes but weren’t the long-term solutions and didn’t have the skills you want in passing.

  • R8erEduc8er

So if TP has a much smaller playbook, shouldn’t be easier for him to know his much smaller amount of plays? Or is that where you get your “TP is dumb” logic from.

I think it’s the coaches (Olsen) not knowing which play to call because the style of play calling they’re used to is much different than how they want to play TP. They should call the same plays for TP that they’d use if McG was in the game.

  • HELLSBELLS

Would rather have Clowney than Barr. Watkins if we can trade back a little. Lee if we trade back alot.

  • Raider O

    New post monkeys.

  • RaidingTexas

No, go back and watch how those plays where the clock runs out go down. The play is called into TP. But then he stands there and tries to translate the signals on his wristband cheat sheet. He can’t translate it quickly enough, and then …. penalty or timeout.

  • HELLSBELLS

    They will make room.

  • RaidingTexas

But maybe it is the coaches fault. Maybe they gave him a faulty decoder ring.

  • kenchun24

Yikes! Like Cork said (and I agree with)…Reggie should be on just as much hot seat watch as DA and the staff…dude has been whiffing left and right.

  • 2romes

Not to sure. The Broncos did not stay with Tebow long enough for us to say that they could not win the big one with him. It was more of Elway wanting a very different QB. They did win but not the big one.

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

To what end, though? What do you hope to get out of starting TP? He’s not your qb of the future. He’ll run around, get some first downs IF the Broncos don’t put a spy on him or IF they don’t play hard the end of the season. He’ll complete a few passes here and there. He’ll make some fun run behind the line for your life stuff that either will result in 3rd and 40 or a first down.
The receivers will once again be running around, ohhh good, that’ll teach them some skills and give them some practice that will help them develop. Gawd.
He’ll look confused at some point and go to the line, the play clock winding down, the fans cheering, and either he or the coaches will burn a time out.
Even a rare win would do what in the end? Has it improved your team in any way?

    Oh, look! It’s Terrelle Tebow!

  • Gdog

I am not suggesting he is long term solution. I am suggesting him getting one more start to perhaps decide whether we need to trade or release him… why are you pounding your widdle fists on the ground that this is unreasonable, besides having PDS?

  • R8erEduc8er

When I watch games, usually it’s the coaches. Usually, it’s the QB (like a Big Ben) screaming at the sidelines to give him a play….then penalty or timeout. Usually, the QB gets anxious and sometimes look at their cheat sheet and call their own plays. If in fact TP doesn’t know his limited playbook in week 15, then yea he’s dumb.

  • 2romes

    Some good points

  • SnBG

Any thing is possible in sports but if DA gets fired that will show you that this is the same old clueless, dysfunctional team. Probably the worst one in the entire NFL. I hope for the orgs sake and the team DA stays. Markie would be a total football moron to do that. He would be an owner that like several other idiot owners doesn’t know football and can’t see past his haircut.

  • Gdog

He prolly would have started on more season if not for Manning…

  • Raider O

For now. Next year is his last chance.

  • Gdog

If McGloin lights SD up this Sunday, this is a moot point. If he is a pick-6 machine again, Pryor should get one more chance. Especially with another blow-out.

You pounding your fists on the ground saying Pryor should never play again doesn’t convince me I am wrong. Nice try though…

  • kenchun24

I agree…this upcoming 3rd year for Reggie and DA is a nice balance between the “patience and pull the trigger for something else” from Mark.

  • Gdog

Agreed.. but beings his job is safe, so should DA’s.

  • 2romes

I like winning so to answer that last question. Give us the Fans a much needed victory.

I like what you wrote about the receivers just running around much unengaged. Also, I think you are correct to feel the same about the running backs because Pryor keeps the ball to much. Good eye!

  • SnBG

Let’s hope Markie is smarter than his father in this regard.

I’m betting he is, as I’m “all in” for next season as long as he’s committed to building up this D, else he can sell it to the Arabs–
