Poll: Who was the best Raiders cornerback ever?

With Nnamdi Asomugha wrapping up his career on Friday, it begs the question of how he stacks up against the greatest Raiders cornerbacks ever.

He also gave us 3 super bowls wins and some great raider history most teams don’t have that.

  • turf toe

Lol, Johnny. “A pre-emptive hat tipping.”

  • Twinkle

Excellent….you’ve just managed to put all of the worst coach/player speak phrases in one short post….barf…I hope you are pleased with yourself now…..barf….lmfao.

  • Raider O

    I see. That explains it.

  • Chuck

It has to be Tatum,Willie Brown said he only covered sideline routes because wr were scared to go across the middle.

  • SnBG

Luis here. I’m hungry pop. Feed me Seymore.

  • Raiderfusion

PEO: My kid call me an Old Fart too. It’s a sign of respect. I lived in Santa Rosa when they had their Training Camp back in the day and got to party with all those characters, great fun.

  • the authoritative dr robert

Such a dumb thought process. We win cuz of the defense.

    In SPITE of Pryor.

  • DJ Johnny

Ha. Sorry bout that. Lol. Actually i turn into a softie when it comes to the point when you have a strong feeling your coach is gonna get fired.

    I’m torn.

I think Reggie should have an obvious upgrade before letting him go.

    Otherwise…may as well keep him.

I do feel bad for the guy. I think he is doing the best he can based on what he knows what to do..and with the roster. I’m sure he’s really into it and put a lot of effort in.

  • the authoritative dr robert

Never heard that before so stfu.

  • Chuck

So his 2 td passes against the chargers didn’t count nor his 93 td run against the steelers.

  • SnBG

Never heard that either. OK then.

  • the authoritative dr robert

Of course they did. Along with all of his interceptions and ridiculous passes.

    His whole body of work.

A 66 rating with 5 Td passes and 11 ints.

Worst passer in the nfl. Yes. We won in SPITE of him.

  • Twinkle

Yeah it’s why Mark has to stay tf out of it.I tip my hat to DA for coming here in the first place and another year of DA isn’t gonna kill us.The seemingly never ending lack of of talent for whatever reason will though.

  • Chuck

What I said happened in the wins he didn’t have 11 picks in the wins nor did he have a 66 passer rating in the wins either. He was very important in the wins.

  • SnBG

Fox,,,fired by Al.Goes on to the SB with the Panthers
Turner,,,fired by Al. goes on to the AFC Championship game with the Bolts while we sit at home and whine.
Gruden wants out of Oakland cause of Al’s meddling and refusal to pay the man. Goes on to win a SB in Tampa.

I’d say DA has a bright future ahead of him. If he gets the axe. I’m kinda thinking he should be fired. He will be a lot happier.

  • DJ Johnny

I’ve come up with a new reason to keep DA: Proving SI and some of the other “experts” wrong who have made their smart-alek comments about it.

  • Raiderfusion

Come on now, Plunkett had not only Patriot, but 49r stink also. But we still love Plunk.

  • 0tt0

yeah…..maybe kiffin could be the OC and allen the DC,,,,,,it will be the best wimpy visor wearing tandem in the world

  • bennings

John Gruden, Head Coach; Scott Linehan, Offensive Coordinator; Don Martindale, Defensive Coordinator
Your 2014 frontline coaches of the Oakland Raiders

  • 0tt0

nope….he choose pryor because that was the best talent reggie provided to him…..which is why reggie should be fired

  • the authoritative dr robert

Good point. But he sucked for those teams. Made his bones with the Raiders.

Haynes was already great when he got here. He always seemed like a Patriot first to me. But I did like him.

  • Raiderfusion

Hayes and Haynes could shut down just about anyone. OMG they were fun to watch. The game itself was just more fun to watch. The rules have softened the game. I’m just glad they got rid f those ridiculous Rookie Contracts.

  • the authoritative dr robert

Nope. He shoulda known Flynn was better. I knew.

Flynn has a 90+ rating. Give him time and he’s good.

Pryor has a 66 rating. Horrendous.

  • SnBG

    Davis must sell the team,,,,soon.

  • SnBG

    Gruden wore visors too.

  • Howard Benner

John Fox walked away from the Raiders after Al dressed him down after Jeff George lit up the Raiders in a preseason game. . .he wasn’t fired. . .

You really need fact check, man. . .

    Fifteen
years and three weeks ago, John Fox walked away from his first job as an
NFL defensive coordinator. His employers were the Oakland Raiders.

That’s right, the Broncos have yet another head coach who came
through a bad breakup with Al Davis, although Fox doesn’t use it as
motivation in quite the way Mike Shanahan did.

Then 41, Fox resigned two weeks before the 1996 season opener. He
left a one-sentence statement for the media saying he had resigned for
“personal reasons.” Head coach Mike White told reporters that Fox had no
family problems that he knew of, had bought a home in the Bay Area and
had not mentioned he might be resigning

  • brad

No need to sell he just needs someone to help him with Football decisions and monitor Reggie!

  • the authoritative dr robert

His body of work shows he sucks.

  • Zymurge

    Where’s DVD?

  • Reggie Fangaz

    Stickum

  • DKnight007

Waste of a thread putting up a poll of who the best Raider CB is? Really…when there is more important things to discuss about this franchise and the direction it is going to take after this year?

  • DKnight007

That would work with me. However, I think Gruden would be able to get a better DC than Martindale.

  • Carl weathers

Terry McDaniel was a HOF’er in comparison to Nnamdi. Asomugha was good for a few years but TMac36 was a top corner in the league for damn near a decade.

  • Howard Benner

How is it that the order isn’t Willie Brown, Mike Haynes & then Lester Hayes? I love Lester the Molester as much as anyone & he had arguably the greatest single season for a corner in regards to interceptions but Willie is the modern proponent of the “bump & run” coverage (now called “press” coverage) as he did that to augment his lack of experience adapting from a linebacker to cornerback & he & Mike Haynes are both in the HOF. . .

  • Howard Benner

Seems you were wearing a visor when you asserted John Fox was fired, instead of the truth that fox walked away after Al dressed him down following a pre season meltdown by Jeff George & the Atlanta Falcons. . .

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

That and you can’t compare players of different eras.
