With Nnamdi Asomugha wrapping up his career on Friday, it begs the question of how he stacks up against the greatest Raiders cornerbacks ever.

  • RaiderDebo

Terry McDaniel gets my vote. That dude never gave an inch. I remember a game against SF where he dominated Jerry Rice. May be the most underrated Raider of all time.

  • Rico Stifler

Tatum would make James Harrison look like a beitch..

  • turf toe

Brown, Hayes, Haynes, and the others were good, but they couldn’t hold a scalpel to Hayden. Go Big Reg!

  • PlunkforHOF

I’m going to go ahead and consider the source here.

  • TrevJo

1997, another season that was over before it began. I think that was also the game where Jeff George threw his most boneheaded INT ever, a Favre-esque flip of some kind if I remember correctly.

  • DKnight007

    #1 choice David Shaw
    #2 choice Jon Gruden
    #3 choice Dennis Allen

None are coming here….Get a solid vet head coach like Whisenhunt who has been to multiple Super Bowls.

  • Chino

Yeah I asked for a tatum jersey and got a howie long one. Smh..

  • Rico Stifler

    I also liked Lionel Washington

  • The Beeeeech Dawg

Nerd said what? (now say “what”, it’ll be hilarious)

  • The Beeeeech Dawg

Sorry but the Dawg gots to keep it realz

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

    McElroy was alright.

  • Rico Stifler

McDaniel and Washington were a very solid duo.

  • Rico Stifler

    You’re an idiot..

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

And I got to see them live al the time. Nyah, nyah, nyah.

  • RaiderDebo

I remember that one. Toward the end of his career here. Wasn’t that the game where Jeff George threw that unbelievably boneheaded interception?

  • SnBG

Reg here, funny joke but Hayden will be a beast.

  • turf toe

Met him in LA, too, England, at a charity function for kids. Very quiet and reserved. Class is the best way to describe him.

  • DJ Johnny

You and Debo both remember that one eh? Yeah.

I felt bad for Bugel on the sideline. He looked as horrified as we were.

  • SnBG

Donuthead here. Guys,,,look at my head,,,,I was the best corner the Raiders ever had.

  • Twinkle

Just googled best NFL safties of all time…twenty lists and not one the same.

  • turf toe

Okay, SnBG. I’m holding you to that.

  • 504 Raider

    John Bowie

  • SnBG

Big Al here. Fans,,,I’m sorry I messed the team up for you but I like the idea of firering another coach. Keep up the good work and carry on.

  • Twinkle

    Old fart!

  • JV.

Today was a great day in Oakland raider history.

  • DJ Johnny

    No coaching rumors today? Nothing?

  • Rico Stifler

    Top three candidates:
    Lovie
    Zimmer
    Horton

  • Twinkle

    New post I believe

  • turf toe

Just found a great NY Times article from 2011 titled “Before Revis and Cromartie There Was Haynes and Hayes.” I tried to link it to this comment but failed. It’s easy to find, so check it out.

  • Rico Stifler

If have no problem with DA as a HC but he has done nothing that gives me any confidence in his ability to lead this team beyond four wins.

  • the authoritative dr robert

Rumor has it our coach sucks.

  • Raiderfusion

I loved Atkinson when he had broken his arm, he has his cast on and we’re playing the Steelers. He clubs Lynn Swan, and Swan says he should be in Jail. Brought a smile to my face. Thanks for the memories.

  • the authoritative dr robert

I just liked him. He was the FS when I was a kid and I played FS.

    I liked his style.

  • willy91137

HAYNES & HAYES were the best quarters in the NFL ever they played straight UP man coverage was our defensive line somebody was always in the quarter face

  • turf toe

    Rob…you can’t mean that.

  • the authoritative dr robert

This is a comedy bit. It has to be.

  • Twinkle

Yep they both learned from the Best!

  • the authoritative dr robert

He chose Pryor. Gave us The Pryor Charade.

That alone is worth firing him for.

  • turf toe

They were. Did you find the article, Willy? What was cool was their different styles of play. Haynes was a loud American musclecar, Haynes a Mercedes.

  • Raiderfusion

Haynes is arguably one of the best CB in all of football. He could do it all and effortlessly. I loved Lester because he was born and raised a Raider. But after the league outlawed stickum he didn’t seem to be the same.

  • turf toe

But…but he’s said all the right things after each loss. And he’s said them the same way. Don’t you believe in consistancy?

  • the authoritative dr robert

    I’m convinced.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Are you dense? You’ve been told at least a dozen times he uses speech to text software. Dragon 2.0 on a MAC. It’s not perfect, he could edit it which would require typing which would negate the need for speech to text in the 1st place.

  • turf toe

He would. Tatum would run at top speed and his molecules would suddenly occupy yours. Then he would stand there and stare down at the quivering mess at his feet. One of a kind.

  • turf toe

    Yes

  • turf toe

That’s very sad. Hope you can get them back someday.

  • 909RaiderLifer

I got Jack’s autograph (along with Villapiano and Jim Otto at a Raiders charity event back in 04…Anyways, had a minute or two of conversation with him….Said something like: “We need somone like you, out there to put some fear in the opponet.” His reply was: “Nah, I couldn’t play today. I’d be signing over my check every week.”
    That WAS back in 2004!

  • Chuck

That also gave us 3 of our 4 wins.

  • DJ Johnny

“Listen. At the end of the day we have put our athletes in the best possible positions that they might enjoy a modicum of success. Listen. I like that locker room. I like it alot. You can’t begin to know how much I like it. Listen. We are gonna make a reasonable effort to compete this sunday. Denver has a great organization and a great QB. Listen. I’ll just go ahead right now and give them a pre-emptive cap tipping. Foxy has done a great job.

Listen. I’ll look at the film and see if we can’t find a way to implement a plan that might allow us to enjoy a certain level of success.”

  • turf toe

He really is, but he makes me laugh, so I’m an idiot too.
