Pryor’s play vs. Broncos resembled his play all season

OAKLAND – Terrelle Pryor’s play against the Denver Broncos on Sunday looked much like his season as the Raiders primary quarterback: Some good things, some bad, a jaw-dropping play here, a head-scratching play there, plenty tough to assess overall.
It all unfolded in plain view of a sold-out crowd at the Coliseum and throughout the course of a 34-14 victory by the Broncos in the Raiders regular-season finale.
If nothing else, coach Dennis Allen, general manager Reggie McKenzie, owner Mark Davis and offensive coordinator Greg Olson secured one more piece of evidence to build a case for how to proceed when it comes to the quarterback position.
That Pryor started Sunday speaks volumes, given he started eight of Oakland’s first nine games, yet Allen said he felt compelled to take another look at Pryor before the season ended.
Allen wasn’t ready to pass judgment on Pryor’s performance during his postgame news conference.
“I’m going to hold off on that until I get a chance to watch the tape” Allen said.
Pryor struggled in the first half and compiled the bulk of his decent-looking stats long after the Broncos sealed the outcome.
Pryor completed 6 of 11 passes for 35 yards in the first half. By that time, the Broncos led 31-0.
In the second half, Pryor went 15 of 27 for 172 yards and two touchdowns.
“Scoring twice, it made the day a little bit better,” Pryor said. “Not to say that it’s acceptable to lose, but you never want to score zero points.”
Matt McGloin started the six games before Sunday. Allen said Pryor starting against the Broncos was not an indictment of McGloin’s six-game look-see.
Pryor is under contract through the 2014 season. At this point, the starting job figures to be open among McGloin, Pryor and whoever else the Raiders acquire via the draft and free agency.
He declined to say whether he wants back for another season or if he is interested in a change of scenery.
“Right now, I don’t think this is the time or place to be (talking about that),” Pryor said. “I don’t know what the future holds.”
For now, Pryor said he intends to take a week off and then get back to work. He admitted that he has plenty to work on during the offseason.
“There’s always room for improvement,” Pryor said. “ … I would say I’m inconsistent. Period. I got to get better.”
Veteran offensive lineman Khalif Barnes said Pryor made huge strides this season — Pryor’s first starting more than one game — and that better things are on the horizon.
“He showed that he can make throws after he gets out of trouble with his feet,” Barnes said. “He has made some incredible plays once he left the pocket. That gets overshadowed because of the season we had.
“The kid does have the chance to be a special player if he sharpens up his fundamentals. If he gets more consistent, he can be a dynamic player, for sure.”

nope. what was the question he was asked?

  • DJ Johnny

What is the rage over Ray Anderson? What has he done that is so impressive?

  • Big Tom ‘the hand’ Cable

What a long miserable day. Watching the giants win and seeing the garbage jets win makes me puke. Jets are the biggest pile of trash in the nfl. And the to see the broncs chew the sac of the raids is to much. Til next year good luck with that. Hopefully Allen finds his balls in the off season.

  • Morilla_00

    That defense is talented.

The article’s “source” is Amy Trask: a fired employee with an axe to grind. Why not ask Hue Jackson and Mike Shanahan what they think while we’re at it?

  • Gdog

Reggie doesn’t want anything besides yes-men, and MD is too clueless to understand why this won’t work. Yes Dakota… it is depressing. Just keep DA, or blow up the building again MD!!

  • Rico Stifler

The Browns took the AL approach and fired Chud after only one season…

  • DJ Johnny

Reggie was a respected football mind too.

  • Umrao32

Read that this morning as well. Its all up to Marky Mark. Who is he really listening too at this point.

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

Again, Amy Trask says she thinks Reggie’s gonna be fired. I doubt Mark’s exactly confiding in her these days.

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

Good luck finding anyone with any options to replace him.

  • Big Tom ‘the hand’ Cable

Not to worry. Hue thought he’d be back too.

  • Umrao32

Agreed. Davis has endorsed Reggie the last few weeks. Soooo

  • Dakota

his excuse for his record is look at the roster I was handed….that is throwing two years worth of players under the bus.

  • DJ Johnny

Amy was not fired. She quit. There’s a press release about it.
IF Raiders had canned her they would’ve wanted credit for it.

  • Gdog

If he were smart he would either hold course, or fire everyone. Nothing else makes sense…

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

Cork said today that she was basically forced out.

  • jtdxyz

i think this is just her opinion, not so much something from inside sources

  • r8ter4evr

    HEY MARK
Get a proven talent evaluator give him carte blanche draft Best available QB or maybe a cant miss like Trent Murphy who you could probably slide down the draft order to get he might be the next great sack artist No retread QBs maybe Eli or Big Ben if we could land them both have the jewelry and leadership Finally rebuild will take time we have picks and Cap space get rid of the unproven personal Hire Proven Winners
PLEASE MARK WE ARE TIRED FROM BEING TIRED OF LOSING

  • Gdog

    ANYTHING besides Reggie making decisions??

    This dog don’t hunt.

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

Exactly. And her dislike of Mark and Reggie is well-known.

  • Umrao32

Houston said he hoped to remain a Raider but conceded it was “very possible” that he’s played his final game in the East Bay.

“I believe that Dennis Allen and the Raiders might be looking to move on and have me go to another team or move on and find something more what they want for their system and their scheme,” Houston said. “Who knows? It’s a rough business and nothing’s guaranteed and everything changes from day to day.”

  • Rico Stifler

I think Cleveland just officially became a worse HC destination than Oakland…

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

Which “Proven Winners” would you want to come here, and what makes you think they would want to?

  • Angry Little Man

There’s an article on silver and black.com saying Houston probably wont be back. His comments kind of say he dosent like playing for DA

  • funnyfalcon

Truthfully, I think Streater, Holmes, and Rivera have the potential on offense. On defense, just Jenkins and Houston right now.

Special teams, King has been doing a pretty good job at putting the teams in less favorable field position when he’s had the chance. Jano has just sucked along with our KR and PR rotation.

No clear cut game changers right now, though..

  • The_Civilian_James_Trapp

“There’s talk in league circles that G.M. Reggie McKenzie could indeed be on the outs as well.”

Doesn’t sound like it’s specifically naming Amy as the source there

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

Exactly. They’ll either land another unproven assistant or a burnout.

  • Umrao32

Houston reiterated his love for the organization, but thinks the Raiders want to move on.

“I believe that they were talking me up and things like that, but to a certain standpoint,” he said. “I believe that, me and the Raiders, I think I’ve had good years and I really appreciate this organization. I love this organization, but as far as what some of the coaches want, I’m not sure. That’s out of my control. I play the best I can and do everything I can to contribute.”

  • Rico Stifler

Lovie Smith could persuade him otherwise….

  • jtdxyz

except they have a few stud players

  • The_Civilian_James_Trapp

They also drafted an impact defensive player. It’s too bad he wasn’t available when Grimmace pi…oh wait a minute

  • Angry Little Man

    I hope you are right

  • r8ter4evr

Havent got that far didnt you read I am tired

  • https://twitter.com/MimiPeepeechimi Just Fire Baby

Just read that as well. Glad he was able to celebrate another meaningless sack today with a cool, pre-rehearsed dance he does.

  • Rico Stifler

So? They went 4-12 with those players and a guy was only given one year with those players….

I bet they promote Norvell to HC. lol

  • Morilla_00

I think the coaches want someone who can have more than 2 sacks a year.

  • Rico Stifler

Could they be calling Norvell with news of his promotion? lol

  • https://twitter.com/MimiPeepeechimi Just Fire Baby

They just need a QB. They will get someone along the lines of Chud and draft a QB and see what happens.

  • The_Civilian_James_Trapp

Don’t know but I agree with Gdog’s statement…plus he has some overall knowledge of the league, as opposed to Grimmace who just sat in with Ted Thompson who was making all the real picks while Grimmace was slurping up his syrup for his pancakes.

  • Rico Stifler

They need a RB now too since they traded TRich to the Colts.

  • Gdog

I wouldn’t doubt the league circles consider Reggie a complete buffoon. He will be unemployed after MD fires him… when it happens is the only question…

  • Angry Little Man

he had 6 sacks team best. Imo he’s better suited to DT

  • Rico Stifler

Lovie Smith is atop my HC wish list.

  • jtdxyz

point being that unlike the raiders, at least they have a few game changers…Joe Haden, Josh Gordon

  • Rico Stifler

I agree. I always wanted him to play more DT vs DE.

  • funnyfalcon

    They did fire Belichick.

  • The_Civilian_James_Trapp

Do Gamble, Decosta, Pioli, or McCloughan count? Oh wait, you don’t like McCloughan cuz of a drinking problem he HAD. You must think Gruden is a lesser coach than Allen since he got the OWI

  • https://twitter.com/MimiPeepeechimi Just Fire Baby

Richardson stinks. They got the Colts pick and could draft Casey with that and it will be a massive upgrade
