Pryor’s play vs. Broncos resembled his play all season

OAKLAND – Terrelle Pryor’s play against the Denver Broncos on Sunday looked much like his season as the Raiders primary quarterback: Some good things, some bad, a jaw-dropping play here, a head-scratching play there, plenty tough to assess overall.
It all unfolded in plain view of a sold-out crowd at the Coliseum and throughout the course of a 34-14 victory by the Broncos in the Raiders regular-season finale.
If nothing else, coach Dennis Allen, general manager Reggie McKenzie, owner Mark Davis and offensive coordinator Greg Olson secured one more piece of evidence to build a case for how to proceed when it comes to the quarterback position.
That Pryor started Sunday speaks volumes, given he started eight of Oakland’s first nine games, yet Allen said he felt compelled to take another look at Pryor before the season ended.
Allen wasn’t ready to pass judgment on Pryor’s performance during his postgame news conference.
“I’m going to hold off on that until I get a chance to watch the tape” Allen said.
Pryor struggled in the first half and compiled the bulk of his decent-looking stats long after the Broncos sealed the outcome.
Pryor completed 6 of 11 passes for 35 yards in the first half. By that time, the Broncos led 31-0.
In the second half, Pryor went 15 of 27 for 172 yards and two touchdowns.
“Scoring twice, it made the day a little bit better,” Pryor said. “Not to say that it’s acceptable to lose, but you never want to score zero points.”
Matt McGloin started the six games before Sunday. Allen said Pryor starting against the Broncos was not an indictment of McGloin’s six-game look-see.
Pryor is under contract through the 2014 season. At this point, the starting job figures to be open among McGloin, Pryor and whoever else the Raiders acquire via the draft and free agency.
He declined to say whether he wants back for another season or if he is interested in a change of scenery.
“Right now, I don’t think this is the time or place to be (talking about that),” Pryor said. “I don’t know what the future holds.”
For now, Pryor said he intends to take a week off and then get back to work. He admitted that he has plenty to work on during the offseason.
“There’s always room for improvement,” Pryor said. “ … I would say I’m inconsistent. Period. I got to get better.”
Veteran offensive lineman Khalif Barnes said Pryor made huge strides this season — Pryor’s first starting more than one game — and that better things are on the horizon.
“He showed that he can make throws after he gets out of trouble with his feet,” Barnes said. “He has made some incredible plays once he left the pocket. That gets overshadowed because of the season we had.
“The kid does have the chance to be a special player if he sharpens up his fundamentals. If he gets more consistent, he can be a dynamic player, for sure.”

RM will trade down twice to get out of the first round cuz he likes his picks. then he’ll have 2 2nds, 2 3rds etc etc and draft a bunch of backups. he’ll also overpay houston 5 yrs/ 40 mil, sims will get 4 years 32 mil, jenkins 3 yrs/18 mil, jennings 4 yrs/ 20 mil and then he’ll try and fail to get cutler. Then we’ll end up signing matt slob bring back MCG and have an open comp. OAK goes 2-14. the end

Read and play. Then read and play some more. Don’t watch that crap on tv. That’s not “real” poker. Not unless you wanna try an make a living out of it.

  • Dakota

He was probably just drunk…..depressed this year…misses his lover Lechler….what do you think they were doing in camp after they were done stretching and headed to the locker room together?

  • Raideralex99

Its funny the last 2 raiders HC Cable and Hue went 8-8 and were fired yet both of them are still coaching teams in the playoffs.

  • Rico Stifler

I’d want both Decker and Maclin, Decker #1 and Maclin #2.

  • EMRaiders

if that is what your crystal ball tells you, please throw it against the wall.

  • Angry Little Man

I agree totally we need continuity , but what happens if DA tanks at mid season next season ? ugh

  • EMRaiders

    DING DING DING!

  • Lefty12

Anyone that says the team should move to LA has no right to call others an idiot

  • Umrao32

    The TRUTH hurts

No casinos here, as far as I know. Plus, I like to visit Vegas for sentimental reasons.

  • nolimits3333

Hue was actually a pretty good OC.

  • 0ak R8rs

I love paypal. But we have an eBay store so I’ve been using paypal for over a decade now. Admittedly there is a learning curve. But I haven’t had a problem for several years.

  • Stabler

I’d rather mix up a fresh batch of Purple Drank for He Who Shall Not Be Named and have HIM make the picks.

  • nolimits3333

Follow the money. We won the SuperBowl in LA.

  • rifflicks

    are they Head Coaches now?

  • Raiders for Life

Kam Wimbley V.2 let him go get paid somewhere else.

  • Stabler

He may decide to give Jano a raise also. Just because.

  • 0ak R8rs

Haha. I know it’s not my money. My concern is cap space and long term implications of bad contracts. Mark can be homeless for all I care. I just wanna win.

  • Dakota

Yeah, and the Broncos are going to the SB because of Knapp….smh

  • Rico Stifler

I just hated having retreads. Plus his play-calling was atrocious….

  • Alex7

AFC West QBs back then =
    .
    Rivers, Cassell, Tebow.
    .
    Slightly different today.

  • Rico Stifler

    Albeit as assistant coaches…

  • rifflicks

stupid isn’t it….firing coaches every two years works real well

  • http://AdvoCare.com/ Till death do us part

Now that were in the 5 hole, can def see slob coming our way

  • Alex7

they kinda had top-5 salary rosters and yet…no playoffs.
They are good assistants though, so they’re right where they belong.

  • Angry Little Man

Let’s not forget Jano cost us at least a couple of W’s this season

  • EMRaiders

this could work. Though Decker’s stock is probably higher than Nix’s right now.

  • 0ak R8rs

    Yep.

If you want, you can just send the $50 to Oak and save the middle man here.
    Just saying

  • http://AdvoCare.com/ Till death do us part

Too bad he won’t even look this way again

  • 0ak R8rs

    Good point. Duh. Gdog?

  • Stabler

Are you suggesting a Texas/Polish kicker man-love scenario? If that’s what it takes to have Jano put the damn ball through the uprights, bring it on.

  • Alex7

just like he overpaid for Wheeler and Desmond Bryant.

  • Rico Stifler

I have no idea what kind of a deal they are expected to command in FA.

  • rifflicks

    well it’s all about you

  • https://twitter.com/MimiPeepeechimi Just Fire Baby

Hasn’t responded to my email yet. Not sure where he went

  • AutumnThunderstorm

    Raider needs

    1) QB elite, solid, or dependable, whichever leads to victories

    2) a vision, an identity

right now we have none of the above

    we do have a future

    we will have a purpose

we will have a division crown

  • RaidingTexas

The Bengals don’t seem to think so.

  • Stabler

I thought having Rolando McLain cover Calvin Johnson was a genius move.

  • Raider O

    Lmao

  • HELLSBELLS

If we fire we better hire a proven coach or a hot prospect. No more who is this guy.

  • RaidingTexas

No, it’s a good thing. Believe me.

  • LB32

Cable is Assist. HC. Most guys don’t get a HC gig in the NFL right away. Maybe if they go to college, they will.

  • http://AdvoCare.com/ Till death do us part

We also need a defensive captain ala JJ Watt

  • Twinkle

It’s hella funny in retrospect but not everything can actually be dealt with by email in the banking business…but don’t try and tell Paypal that.lol.I was a part of EBay before paypal and just receiving something you bought never mind the said condition it arrived in was a major achievement.

  • Angry Little Man

the best identity is winning nothing else comes close.

  • https://twitter.com/MimiPeepeechimi Just Fire Baby

Well if they make it past the 2nd round for the first time in 2 years…………

  • rifflicks

    Really???

  • Howard Benner

    And twice in Oakland. . .c’mon, man. . pointless comment. . .
