Trask on Reggie, Allen, Raiders

Noting that she remained a Raider fan and talking up the passion of Mark Davis, former Raiders CEO Amy Trask had this to say on the state of the Raiders on CBS’ “That Other Pregame Show” Sunday morning:

Trask: The narrative has changed in Oakland. Just about two years ago at the press conference, Reggie (McKenzie) remarked that he had looked at the (salary) cap situation and it was manageable. He said the team would be fine. Nothing wholesale would need to be done. And Dennis Allen emphasized at that press conference that there was talent on both sides of the ball. That there was enough talent to compete at the highest levels of the NFL. And that there was talent to compete for a championship in 2012. Well the team then went out in 2012 and went 4-12 after having been one game removed from the playoffs the year before… Continuity is important. I argued with Al (Davis) about that all the time. We had so many arguments, about a lot of things, but about the importance of continuity. But at some point, you have to say, ‘What is more important? Keeping the same person in place or evaluating and considering and making sure you have the right person in place’… When you ask if (Allen) is the right person, I go back to what I opened with. Why has that narrative changed entirely in two years with the team’s performance?

Hilton is a buster in FF. guy was a ghost for 5 straight games.

  • RaidO

    True

    JC!

  • Dakota

Nothing going right for our draft position.
    FML

  • RTF916

Anyone who’s been with Raiders management between 2003 and 2009 has a lot of nerve criticizing anyone’s results in this league. Trask is nuts.

  • NYCRaider

So our only pro bowl player was then one who typically was not a focal point of our game plan?

  • 0ak R8rs

I assume your just saying that as a point of discussion. Because it means nothing. DHB sucks and FFB pointless w regard to winning and losing.

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

No, but pretty good for my wallet.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

It would take some mighty atrocious play from Pryor. So, maybe.

  • Dakota

32 out o 32 NFL GMs wpould take Palmer over Campbell. The rest you are correct on…..but he still sucks, they just suck worse.

  • c2e

10 out of 50 years does not define us. Sure, we’re all pissed about the most recent years, but we should be fair about the entire body of work and give credit where it is due.

McKenzie given signals this week from Raiders owner Mark Davis that he’s leaning toward keeping both, per @MikeSilver

Dennis Allen may have been given some assurances this week. Going into evaluation mode and starting Pryor may have been first indicator.

Terrelle Pryor will have a full healthy 53 man roster today. Healthy OL that many people said was the only thing holding him back. All the WR healthy too. Today you will see what TP is all about and his agent will have to live with the results too. If he loses, what is going to be the excuse for his play today?

  • prometheus

campbell sucked. held the ball and didn’t anticipate shzt. he was an average QB at best. Palmer was better easily. just TOO agressive at times. I’ll always take the QB that has the balls and ability to make throws based on quick reads and anticipation. JC was average

  • Chino

Looking like the rams are gonna get that 1st pick. They’ll have some offers if they’re not interested in teddy themselves

  • willy91137

hour about Jay Gruden for head coach of the Oakland Raiders he probably runs his brothers offense that way we could train another coach now that Dennis Allen has been trained will send hem out and he will get a job in a defensive coordinator and they’ll fire their coach and hire him as head Coach because he’s been a head coach

  • NYCRaider

Wait ! i thought it was Al’s fault? now its AMY’S?

  • Dakota

McNutt is a funny name….but Dallas has a guy named Clutts playing for them.

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

His agent’s already laid out the excuse: DA is “setting him up for failure” somehow or other..

  • jumpnjiminy

Madden was probably the one that said it wasn’t a good idea. And Dalton proved it wasn’t the rest of the Bengals fault they were losing and Palmer will choke and he’ll do it soon.

  • Chino

It is what it is. At least we can move forward to the next topic.

  • Dakota

Yeah, like anyone was to blame for that other than the Mad Man in charge. Amy wated to hire Belichick.

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

We’ll know tomorrow. My guess: Ray Anderson comes in as Team President but keeps RM and DA.

  • marks hair

    we’re bone’d

  • prometheus

FFB has a point for me and it does affect my winning and losing. so Hilton is a buster. and DHB is one of the worst busts in nfl history for where he was taken. but craptree is injury prone so the raiders didn’t miss out too much

  • Just Win Baby

I think TP is setting up DA for failure.

  • Rico Stifler

D was fine without Branch since week two. Young just got hurt a few weeks ago. I think the loss of Hayden is having an underrated impact on the D. But two of those players were depth players, not starters.

  • SaintKaufman

If you agree with this jackwad about ANYTHING than I ask you the same. Why would you backup a Raider hating psycho??

  • VanHeathen30

Mark is going to be needing a bunch more tarps if he keeps DA as HC…

  • 0ak R8rs

Campbell protected the ball and didn’t lose games for us. Campbell had more wins in one year than Palmer had in two. I’d take Campbell from two years ago over Palmer any day. At least on a team w a suspect defense, that is.

  • NYCRaider

yep, it gets so confusing in here . Al controlled everything but now Amy is to blame too

  • prometheus

Pryor wants out and will be out. Pryor dropped a duece on the raiders Org by his shzt talking. you guys still support this clown? not me

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    What’s the next topic?

  • aig-raiders

    lol

  • 0ak R8rs

It didn’t have to be Crabtree btw. That’s just one of dozens of misses we had by taking DHB instead

  • Just Win Baby

No way. If Pryor stinks it up, they will let him stink it up all game so they will be justified when they get rid of him.

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

Mistic and Priest still support Pryor. Mistic said the Raiders losing to the Chiefs with McGloin at QB was the “greatest day of his life.”

  • prometheus

campbell won those games himself? had nothing to do with the poo poo afc west that year right? or having a top 3 RB either?campbell was average. wsn’t a playmaker and just managed the game, nothing more

  • marks hair

amy has argued with Al to leave the coaches alone over and over..
but in this one case the head coach is so bad that even amy wants him removed early.. I know the feeling

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

It’s Lowell Cohn. Are you familiar with his m.o.?

  • 0ak R8rs

No. She’s a bitter cnt. But can’t put much of the last decade on her. She’s a lawyer. Had very little to do w player and coaching personnel decisions IMO.

  • Dakota

    Bingo.

  • Rico Stifler

Tyler Clutts? He was a DE for Fresno state before switching to FB in the NFL.

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

That damn meddling owner who had his hands in everything was nothing without “fill in with your favorite douche”

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    Almost correct. You’re getting closer.

  • prometheus

yeah this blog is for Raider fans not raider haters. people can go to the niner blog for that

  • Just Win Baby

Just some woman holding a grudge and Pi$$ing over sour grapes. She was there for the suckage, she carries her part of the blame.

  • willy91137

and about June when the minicamps open up in the draft is over we will be on here saying will win nine or 10 games this year we really look strong quarterback we drafted in the second round looks like can play we will be doing it with smoke and mirrors will be doing that with players that can play

  • Dakota

    yep

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

Balke turned things round after previous two fired coaches had established the bases of their defensive prowess.
