crystal ball man. Everyone loves the crystal ball man.
Did you predict Mike to go 2-5 without Rodgers?

  • RaidO

    Yup that is the problem

  • Rico Stifler

Sparano was easily my gave coach this year… Hell, the only coach I liked. lol

  • LB32

Earlier, you said that Flynn was talented now you’re saying that they had no talent, which is it? Flynn is the only guy that really changed.

  • kenchun24

I know…still, the prototype is 6’4″ and above.

  • Zymurge

The team started the season early with smoke and mirrors. Pryor on offense was an unknown that got progressively worse the more film on him became available. Just like we told you he would because he is too limited to adjust to the way the league adjusts to him.

Same thing with the defensive scheme. It caught the league by surprise with the heavily disguised blitz packages and kept other teams off balance. Then film was compiled, teams found the tells and tendencies and adjusted, and there wasn’t enough talent there to overcome losing their surprise advantage.

From a coaching perspective, they did a great job putting together the schemes that would find some early success despite talent limitations. That is progress from previous staffs.

How they are able to assemble more lasting, adjustable schemes that work with better talent moving forward remains to be seen. Doing what they did with what they have is a good indicator that the potential is there.

  • RaiderNik

Sparano is the man.. His a keeper!

  • Alex7

you mean the QB coach in Denver? Yeah, he’s killing them over there.

  • RaidO

    LOL at the Alex7 guy

  • Chino

    New post

  • Alex7

Flynn saved the season. If you’re going to quote, quote. And he didn’t show up til they were 0-2 after Rodgers injury.

  • RediaR

    Hayden wasn’t giving up 3 TDs a game…

  • Alex7

    Flynn 2-2
    Tolzien 0-1
    Wallace 0-1

  • RaidO

    Peyton Manning ..

  • DKnight007

The problem was with Davis getting rid of the GOOD coaches like Gruden and than getting rid of Cable/Hue tandem when they swept the division and progress was being made….and the son and McK getting rid of Hue prematurely when the cap and defense just needed to be fixed and then hiring deer in the headlights Allen as coach and then keeping him for 3 years? Keeping the bad coaches longer than the the good ones is just plain DUMB!

  • Alex7

    Mike 2-5 without Rodgers.
    .
Notice how that’s the bottom line and you have to red herron it.

  • kenchun24

Pretty much..but he gets away with it more so than the RG3, Kap for whatever reason. Plus the WR talent in Seattle has been basically Golden Tate and that’s it this year.

  • Alex7

you don’t say! But surely Knapp has been an anchor dragging them down…

  • DKnight007

Stop whining and crying and trying to sell Dennis Allen. Nobody is buying it….well only Reggie is I guess….unfortunately….

2-5 without Rodgers. Notice you have to change the argument because 2-5 is the bottom line.

  • 909RaiderLifer

Then one can stiil hold out hope that DA still lobbies to keep his staff when he meets with Mark. And that Mark will say:” F them, and while we’re at it, FU too. You’re FIRED.”

  • Ron69

“i’m not sure the Qb of the future is in the building right now”
you have to like this quote, Assuming Cutler is franchised and Teddy Bridgewater is gone that leave us with:
-Josh Freeman- he has won under Olson in the past
-Blake Bortles-looks like a franchise QB but still too raw
-Johnny Manziel- too many questios marks

then the bunch of 2nd and 3rd rounders, i’m not liking the future as now.

  • RediaR

But not as much as his tape.

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

Rather Manziel or Bridgewater than Freeman.
    Trouble follows that guy.

  • Rico Stifler
  • JV.

interesting interview on 95.7 the game with DA

  • 2romes

The Raiders could have made ALL the money move with Hue that they made with Allen. He was there to coach under those circumstances. It was Reggie feeling uncomfortable that changed the smartest move they could have made at that time.

  • LB32

Actually, 2-2-1 and Wallace got hurt too. They just benched the other guy.

  • DIRT-LOT FOOTBALL

EVERY DAY ABOVE GROUND IS A GOOD DAY ENGLAND..HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOURS..

  • Carl weathers

Actually 2-4-1. Big difference because that tie instead of a loss put them into the playoffs. Also, you are a moron comparing tlts to McCarthy.

  • DKnight007

    That is what I’m saying!!

  • 909RaiderLifer

Whats he saying? Anything other than Coachspeak bs?

  • DKnight007

Yeah Soprano did well with the OLine for all the injuries and crazy as turn over he had to deal with. The only one that seemed to really continue coaching and Gilmore did well also.

  • seymour bush

So it looks like the Raiders are doing the exact opposite of what 90% of you want! Thank God!!!!! We will be in Super Bowl contention sooner rather than later as long as they stay the course and not listen to the fans.

  • 909RaiderLifer

95.7 The GAME @957thegame 3m Players Dennis Allen listed as building blocks: Rivera, Streater, D Moore, Holmes, Reece, Wisniewski, Veldheer, Roach, Sio Moore & Houston.

Our mama’s know each other so we are kinda like play cousins

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

The trip will wear them out man. Twelve thousand miles and 22-23 hours in the air total.
It may be fun but it’s not good for the Raider season.

  • Zymurge

I’m not proclaiming him the long term answer, just like I’m not proclaiming McGloin the long term QB. But I’m also not proclaiming DA a failure (or McG for that matter) because they’ve both shown the ability to do more than expected with little ammo. Until I see both of them operating with a full NFL level roster I’m not going to snap judge them.

There’s also the cost of changing coaching regimes to consider. Not just the lack of continuity for the team but also to repair the reputation of the Raiders as a knee jerk team when it comes to changing coaches. That’s mitigation against long term damage that can be much more painful than a single lost season if he turns out to not be the answer in 2014.

The way I see it, unless a bonafide, SB ring wearing, veteran HC is lined up to take the HC role, it’s not the right move to change the staff. Knee jerking to another prospect or lightly proven HC candidate is not the answer either and it could actually prove detrimental.

Looking at it that way, DA actually IS the likely answer to 2014. That decision should come with a clear set of achievements that he needs produce with a more talented roster to keep his job in 2015 and beyond.

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

Concorde would give them 12 hours roundtrip.
Believe the French decommisioned the last plane a couple of years ago although they were still flying.
Without it, it’s around 22 hours and it is going to affect the game the following week.

  • Zymurge

He’s a ZBS runner in the NFL and unrpoven in a power scheme. Not to say he couldn’t play in one, but it’s a gamble and thus, he’s not worth a huge contract to a non-ZBS team.

  • Gdog

    Spend it on BEER! Cheers…

  • Zymurge

So 4 wins over your expectations isn’t progress?

  • funnyfalcon

Hayden was never a starting corner, bonehead. He was a nickel CB for almost all of his 8 games. Do you even watch football or just rattle off what you read on the internet? We all know the real reason why the pass D went from top 10 to bottom 10 and that’s because of injuries and it was never good to begin with once teams started figuring the d out.

  • funnyfalcon

No doubt, but the whole point of bringing in Reggie was not so we can compare his failures with Al’s as being less worse…

  • Raideralex99

    Alex7
    Here’s a question for you.
You keep saying DA has no pro bowlers to work with … who’s fault is that? Hello it’s the gm’s job to get the players.
So who’s at fault the GM or the coach …. somebody has to pay the price and please DO NOT say its Al’s fault for leaving this mess. You can only use Al for an excuse for so long before the light bulb goes on.

  • Raideralex99

Look at all the good coaches …. they improve every year period. If DA was 3-13 last year … Heck 4-12 is an improvement … Keep him on!
But here’s my beef the GM and coach … they took over a 8-8 team and I understand the rebuild my team ego so a down fall is expected.
I was actually happy DA kept his job after the 4-12 season BUT show me some improvement the following year … 5-11 .. something … anything but 4-12.

  • Chuck

People on this blog at like they can’t understand that it’s ok as long as Reggie is losing.

  • Charlie

I would hardly say that Tom Coughlin and Mike Tomlin have improved yet they have both have won superbowls.
You think the Ravens missed the playoffs this year because of bad coaching? What about the Falcons with their mega rich All World QB? Bad coaching or bad playing?
Good teams realize that talent is 80% of the game and no coach can win without talent.
How many coaches have the Steelers had since 1970?
You do not simply change schemes every two years thinking that solves all our problems. Our players are not good enough and have not been since 2002. 53-123 over the past 11 years under SEVEN different coaching staffs should tell you the problem is more a lack of talent than bad coaching.
