Raiders work out slew of free agents

The Raiders worked out former Atlanta Falcons first-round draft pick Jamaal Anderson, a defensive end, and former New York Jets running back Joe McKnight, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun.

Anderson, 27, notched 7 1/2 sacks and forced two fumbles during stints with the Bears, Bengals, Colts and Falcons. McKnight rushed for 502 yards in his first three NFL seasons, primarily as a backup.

The Raiders also worked out the following players: linebacker Frank Beltre, defensive end Donte Paige-Moss, tight end Jordan Thompson, defensive back Neiko Thorpe, linebacker Devan Walker and guard Jarrod Shaw.

Peyton Manning was too young, Ben Rothelisburger & Tom Brady were yet to play an NFL down, pust like Aaron Rodgers & Drew Brees. . .the QB that Baltimore team trumphed in the SuperBowl? Kerry Collins, for god sake. . .one team removed from his racist/alcoholic meltdown in Carolina. . .

  • Umrao32

    Agreed.

  • TrevJo

The Raiders going 1-7 vs the AFCS and NFCE is evidence of the Raiders sucking. The Raiders are part of the AFC West.
KC and SD barely managing a 3-1 record against the Raiders is evidence of KC and SD being not that good.
SD should not have even been in the playoffs, they should have been 8-8 and out despite the easy schedule except that KC (and the refs) screwed up their elimination. And KC only had a strong record because of health and schedule.

    OAKLAND RAIDERS ‏@RAIDERS 26s

Tony Sparano has signed a 2 year contract to remain the Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Line Coach of The Oakland Raiders.

  • RaidO

Yeah the head coach usually picks his staff. Hue did not have that luxury

  • RaiderLen

That means that DA got with Sporano and made it work up the chain.

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

Al the Narcissist hired Hue the Narcissist, fired by Mark, the Pacifist.

  • http://facebook.com/Unicron5 Samnificient Jonsey

You take this pretty seriously, dont you?

  • marks hair

and teams all made the mistake of passing on him because he was too short

  • TrevJo

Like I told Chiefs fans when they lost to San Diego in week 12: Don’t assume that losing to San Diego is evidence that San Diego is good…

In KC’s case it was because KC would turn out to be not nearly as good as they thought. In Denver’s case I suspect the short week was a factor.

  • DutchRaid

Also, DA/Reggie made M. Davis see the light…

  • william banks

Good I hope that you get your wish with us then we can continue our losing tradition as usual.Next year we can get another QB and the year after that until we get it right.DON’T HOLD YOUR BREATH.

  • RaiderLen

Hue, by appeances saw a power vacuum, and looked too fill it. MD had Reggie fire him.

Reggie might have wanted his own guy, but i don’t think stood a chance as even being a consideration.

  • marks hair

6 out of the last seven Super Bowls were won by first round quarterbacks

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

Wasn’t his team RaidO–he conned Mark into believing a guy who had been on the couch could save the season, spent all that money, Mark grieving for his dad and all, with no GM, no Al to look over things. Hue took advantage of the situation, something for which we are still paying.
After all, he didn’t give a damn how much money the Davis’ spent.
Then, that presser showed his stripes. Bengals have stripes. That’s where he belongs, far from here.

  • Umrao32

True. And Kiper SUX But interesting coimg from even him

  • RaidO

What “power vacuum”??. He wanted to pick his OWN STAFF like every other HC in NFL…

  • marks hair

they were terrible when they drafted him. They took him first overall… you are only proving my point

  • TrevJo

Suck it, RM and DA haters. Suck it long, and suck it hard.

  • marks hair

    nice

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

The point is true, though, we started scoring points with McGloin; he was able to hit receivers.
Just wish he hadn’t started pressing and throwing picks, although I was waiting for it to happen. A rookie.

  • the swanky socialite dr robert

There is nothing more important the the blog. Nothing.

  • RaiderLen

    I’m glad it worked out.

  • RaidO

Tony’s staying to replace DA when he starts out 1-5

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

I thought the sky was falling. Again. All them Chicken Littles got it wrong?

  • william banks

Great, now lets start the process of getting to that dominate Offensive Lines of Art Shell and Mean Gene Upshaw with Dominate Centers of OTTO AND Dalby.Thats when we were Dominate when our Offensive Line RULED the N.F.L.

  • RaiderLen

You’re very good at finding a “silver” lining in all things DA.

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

Do you have the list in front of you? How many qbs taken in round 1 in the last 15 years went to a Super Bowl. How many stuck as “franchise” guys?

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

I wanted it before now. NOW, I want his spot filled by someone else. I do wish him well, though.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    Dominant.

  • marks hair

Trent Dilfer was also a first-round quarterback..

  • Umrao32

I agree as well on this point too. Hubert fleeced us. Mike Brown you BASTARD

  • RaiderLen

Alex Mack please. If Lombardi tags him He’s an idiot.

Franchise tag for Mack would mean in excess of 11mil per year, as position of OL doesn’t factor into the tag.

  • http://facebook.com/Unicron5 Samnificient Jonsey

Tony sparano is staying in Oakland. So, thats solved. Hopefully he will get some talent to coach up

  • RaidO

The only thing the Raiders are “still paying” for is firing Hue Jackson. The Palmer trade would had made more sense if Hue got another year.

Fix the d and cut down on the penalties was what was needed..

  • william banks

    Im not perfect,Im human.

  • TrevJo

let’s dominate dominantly, the dominos are falling!

  • RaiderLen

That’s your dominant trait. Being Human. lol

  • elraidmanhattan

Love that soprano is staying thought he was a goner. 2 year contract Dennis beware if you falter…next raider coach

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

No offense intended. I rarely do it, and never in one upping kind of way. But you used it about twenty times in your last ten posts, and you’re not the lone ranger. Many others were as well.

  • the swanky socialite dr robert

I thought u hated spelling police.

  • Chino

    Building around a qb nonetheless

  • RaidO

So does anybody want to guess what week Tony will take over as HC next season?

    I say by week 7

  • the swanky socialite dr robert

At least we know for sure who the interim HC will be when DA gets fired.

  • 909RaiderLifer

Jerry McDonald @Jerrymcd 9m Gee, guess Sparano to Tampa Bay wasn’t a done deal after all . . .View location ·

Jerry McDonald @Jerrymcd 8m By the time the Raiders get going again, for better or worse, coaching staff won’t look much different in 2014 than it was in 2013.View details ·

  • elraidmanhattan

Soprano was a good coach in Miami totally misplaced as OC for jets. Great stability for us

  • RaiderLen

Had nothing to do with spelling. spelling. spelling. He said redundantly.

  • http://www.cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

Finally a sign of consistency I get so tired of us looking dysfunctional this was a really good move by Mark.

  • RaidO

    Head coach: Soprano > DA

  • TrevJo

The power vaccuum was left by the absence of Al Davis, leaving emptiness where once power was. (In other words, Hue was taking over for Al as de facto GM.)
