Moore honored as top rookie

Outside linebacker Sio Moore was selected to the All-Rookie team by the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie, it was announced Tuesday.
Moore showed promise from the outset for the Raiders this season, and he made a strong case for being recognized as the most productive rookie of the Raiders draft class.
He notched 55 tackles, recorded 4 1/2 sacks and forced one fumble in 15 games. He projects as a core player for the Raiders defense in the coming years.
Moore joined fellow linebackers Kiko Alonso and Alec Ogletree on the PFWA All-Rookie team. The Raiders selected Moore in the third round out of Connecticut.

    good pick Reggie!

  • Morilla_00

    Poor Te’o.

  • Davy Jones

    Reggie’s best draft pick.

  • R8erEduc8er

Good job RM! And he was a 3rd rounder. Hayden and Watson will prove to be good picks too.

  • Guest123

should have taken Alonso in the second, or Sio in the second and Keenan Allen in the third. still a nice pick, gotta give props to Reggie for that one.

  • Christian W

Congratulations Sio!! I knew you was going to be special..

  • Al_is_theraiders

“the sun shines on a dogs aszsz sometimes…”

  • Howard Benner

. . .he was on an on line dating site. . .

  • Davy Jones

I wish I had your confidence in Hayden and Watson.

    Tarver resigned per twitter.
Let’s see if he can go for the hat trick of franchise ineptness records this year.

  • Dr. Hunter S. Thompson

    FIRE REGGIE NOW.

  • Dakota

Raiders and Tarver come to terms. We love losers!

  • Dakota

If Tarver got a two year extension, Reggie should be fired immediately.

  • R8erEduc8er

    Fire yourself as a fan.

  • https://twitter.com/MimiPeepeechimi Just Fire Baby

Maybe he got a day per point he gave up the last two years.
Oooopps. that might be 2.5 years.

  • R8erEduc8er

    You’ll come around.

  • TrevJo

    Congrats, Sio!

  • Dakota

Sorry that I would like to see the team have a chance to win.

  • Guest123

like that obnoxious dude in the fedex commercial bragging about how good it is to be boss, Reggie should give himself a promotion, a new title maybe?

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Hayden, no doubt. Watson, if he’s not injury prone. Not worried about his inexperience and all that stuff.

  • Chino

    Tarvers back. Suck it

  • IAmAlwaysWrong

Sio Moore played like a rookie most games I watched last year, but he certainly has potential. Hopefully Miles Burris comes around, too

  • Guest123

is that a message to Tarver?

  • IAmAlwaysWrong

so what coaches aren’t back if it’s been confirmed Sparano, Tarver & April are sticking ?? do we even care about the others?

  • DutchRaid

Pretty sure he meant that is what Tarver had to do to get rehired…

  • Guest123

Miles Burris played like a rookie, especially hitting a wall in his rookie year. Sio played a lot better than good “for a rookie”. give him some props.

  • Dakota

Just reported that all but three assistants returning….but not who the three are that are not returning. I hope we get a new strength and conditioning guy.

  • RaidO

Exactly, no room for hate on that Lions Caldwell hire.

He coached a super caliber team(Colts) and won the super bowl.

He coached a 2-14 caliber team (Colts) and went 2-14.

He was OC of a super bowl caliber team( Ravens) and won the super.

    In 2012 DA coached a 8-8 caliber team(Raiders) and went 4-12

  • 1960AutumnWind

Yep it was a good pick now about the other 8 besides Rivera and Moore?

  • 1960AutumnWind

He got the imaginary all rookie spot.

  • Raider Duck

    Like DMac?

  • 1960AutumnWind

Not an 8-8 team. Team on decline was fading hard as season ended in 2011. Then parts of roster stripped and no draft picks until nearly 4th round also no real cap room only one moderate FA signing (Briesell and he was injured). Both corners went down right from start. Will give you this could have been a 6-10 team without Knapp.

  • IAmAlwaysWrong

3 assts aren’t welcome back? I hope we find out soon that those guys are Al Saunders, John DeFillipo & Justin Griffith…

  • Raider Duck

Not remotely an 8-8 team. And before you light into Reggie for dismantling it, Wimbley and Routt’s cap numbers made it more or less impossible to keep them.

  • funnyfalcon

They were an 8-8 with Hue running the Offense. Not with Knapp, though. Knapp is human hoover vacuum he sucks so much.

  • funnyfalcon

Still can’t believe Routt’s deal. What a waste.

  • Raider Duck

I read last night that Flip is coming back.

And why would you want Griffith gone? Do you really think a new Quality Control coach would turn us around?!?

  • 1960AutumnWind

I now understand what happened. AD thought he was signing DR. You know the eyes go bad at some point.

  • RaidO

    Exactly COACHING matters

  • funnyfalcon

He should be fired just because he’s a QC coach on a team that has finished with 8 wins in two years. Resume killer.

  • BossKnows01

This defense on paper was not that bad talent-wise, mediocre at worst, one future hall of famer on the roster, solid lb corps, good run stopping dt’s, weakness was projected to be pass rush, and no depth, and boy was it ever exposed.

Still in all Tarver’s D set all kinds of records for futility, talent was a problem, should not have been to the extent it was which is record-setting bad. No he does not deserve to be back, neither did DA, still im ok with giving them another year with some pass rush talent infused.

  • BigBenRexor

The quality was not controlled this year

  • Raider Duck

Oh, good grief. Do you even know what a Quality Control coach does?

  • funnyfalcon

Nah, AD was pissed at Asomugha. He was trying to shame him by showering Routt with cash.

  • Raider Duck

Like I just typed below: Do you even know what a Quality Control Coach’s job is?

  • funnyfalcon

Come on man, you’re hating on my zinger? This guy!

  • RaidO

Tarver= Just blitz the same blitzes over and over. Very easy to figure out.

    Raiders are doomed

  • 1960AutumnWind

It matters but so does talent and 2012 definitely was a step down from 2011 especially when you look at all the injuries. I think Knapp cost us a couple of games. I think Tarver/DA was actually a step up on defensive side.

  • Twinkle

Lost in the minutiae of playing a sport from childhood is the learned reactions that allow one to subconsciously make seemingly irrelevant body adjustments in a certain scenario that saves one from injury.Kind of a sixth sense develops that Watson is gonna have to play without. He’s an impressive physical specimen but he’ll have to be real lucky to play for any length of time methinks.

  • BigBenRexor

No, but there was no quality this year what so ever. So what ever he was supposed to do, didn’t get done.
