Moore honored as top rookie

Outside linebacker Sio Moore was selected to the All-Rookie team by the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie, it was announced Tuesday.
Moore showed promise from the outset for the Raiders this season, and he made a strong case for being recognized as the most productive rookie of the Raiders draft class.
He notched 55 tackles, recorded 4 1/2 sacks and forced one fumble in 15 games. He projects as a core player for the Raiders defense in the coming years.
Moore joined fellow linebackers Kiko Alonso and Alec Ogletree on the PFWA All-Rookie team. The Raiders selected Moore in the third round out of Connecticut.

And what should Tarver HAVE done, given a front seven incapable of generating any pass-rush on their own?

  • 24

    Wait…RM got something right?

  • BigBenRexor

    I got, Rush 3 guys!

  • R8erEduc8er

The blitzes varied. We just couldn’t get natural pressure. That was the issue. A cpl pass rushers with Sio improving his pass rushes would transform this defense tremendously.

  • 1960AutumnWind

I hope it was not because he thought SR was talented enough to command that kind of salary.

  • funnyfalcon

The only reason we were competitive on D in the beginning of the year was Tarver’s schemes. All the injuries and lack of depth finally caught up with the lack of good options.

  • RaidO

Yeah and he did that when Raiders were D in the red zone

  • funnyfalcon

AD is a complex guy. If you aren’t loyal, this is what he does. Ask Marcus…

  • Papertiger

    Linebackers are his alleged forte.

  • RaidO

    Always some excuse..

  • 1960AutumnWind

This defense on paper was a disaster. It was the island of misfit toys no one wanted. We took career backups and guys coming off injuries and guys discarded and made them starters.

  • Raider Duck

The Quality Control Coach is the guy who watches game film of upcoming teams and charts their tendencies. For instance: if we’re playing San Diego next week, he’ll watch San Diego’s last however-many games and chart their run/pass percentage on 3-and-short inside the 20, near midfield, inside their own 20, etc. He’ll create these big charts that the coaches can use on gameday to predict the plays San Diego is most likely to run in a given situation. He’ll also usually call the plays for the Scout Team during practice, because he knows what they’re gonna run. It’s a great job for someone breaking into coaching, because you learn REAL FAST what works and what doesn’t. But changing out your QC coaches is not going to accomplish anything, unless they’re being blatant incompetent by not charting things correctly.

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

The defense was not that bad talent wise?!
    Wrong.

  • R8erEduc8er

He got way more right than he gets credit for.

  • funnyfalcon

No excuses this year. If they can’t get it right this time, they’re done.

  • 24

    Please elaborate…

  • Raider Duck

I don’t think we’ll need excuses. Get some front-seven pressure and Tarver’s schemes will work WAY better.

  • RaidO

    Always with the “Talent’ excuses.

  • 1960AutumnWind

Call BS on that one. There were blitzs from all over the place. I know you watch the games you must of just posted this in frustration.

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

Completely. Guys that other teams didn’t choose to resign on one-year contracts.

  • RaidO

    They were figure out…………..

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

    Go away Mistic.

  • BigBenRexor

Oh, In that case FIRE Justin Griffith NOW!

  • BossKnows01

Still no excuse for allowing 56 pts to KC, getting burned by Jamaal Charles screens over and over, 7 tds passes to what was essentially a rookie, none. Inability to make halftime adjustments was a problem all year.

  • funnyfalcon

I think they need to sign Houston to make that achievable. If he walks, it’s going to be hard finding replacements at both ends.

  • Raider Duck

You think he’s been charting things incorrectly? What makes you believe this?

  • BigBenRexor

    Uhh….. Continuity!

  • funnyfalcon

Was the low point for sure.

  • R8erEduc8er

    $60-$70 mil cap space
    Hayden
    Watson
    Sio
    McGee
    Rivera
    Roach
    Burnett
    Sims
    Walker
    Streeter
    Holmes
    McG

    More to come this offseason.

  • Twinkle

Tarver calls blitz packages in because he’s bored. He should’ve let his line provide the pressure. He could have then figured out what color nail polish Manning was applying to his nails back there whilst waiting for a better option than a thirty yard completion to open up.

  • RaidO

DA and Tarver don’t know what 2nd half adjustments are..

  • BigBenRexor

    You’ve never seen Watson play.

  • Raider Duck

That’s the point. The line couldn’t provide any pressure.

  • R8erEduc8er

    But I have.

  • Raider Duck

Is this the same Lamarr Houston who finished 52nd the NFL in sacks? The same Houston who started all 16 games while we all lamented the cruddy pass rush?

  • BigBenRexor

They do, 2nd half adjustments are what other teams throw at them just when they think they got em figured out.

  • RaidO

    LOL!

  • 24

I agree with the cap space.

    Yet to be determined are…

Watson (Hurt), Roach (2nd tier?), Sims (lack of stamina?), Walker (Need a pass specialist)

    Players who showed flashes

Hayden, Sio, McGee, Rivera, Burnett, Streater, Holmes, McG.

Now it’s time to show consistency.

  • BigBenRexor

In college? Or as a situational TE?

  • Twinkle

    Sarcasm is lost on yanks…lol

  • BossKnows01

Totally disagree, a defensive backfield featuring a 1st rd pick in DJ, Tracy Porter, Mike Jenkins who’ s a 1st rounder and hall of famer C Wood is not a disaster, on paper thats pretty good, should NOT have allowes 7 td’s to Foles, 56 pts to KC, qb’d by a game manager…no excuse period

  • Raider Duck

He started three games this year. What are you talking about?

  • R8erEduc8er

He can’t turn over the ENTIRE roster in a cpl years. He’ll do work this off-season.

  • 24

That’s what I’m hoping for but regardless of who he signs, this year has to be 8-8 at least or it’s a failure. I’m not saying that he should get fired but if DA fails to accomplish this, then DA should certainly get fired.

  • RaidO

The lack of 2nd half adjustments last season was a major major problem. I like how some of you seem to ignore that.. “Talent” “Talent” “Talent”

  • R8erEduc8er

If we’re not fighting for a playoff spot week 17 next year, RM and DA should be fired.

  • funnyfalcon

Can’t tell if you’re being serious or not. If you’re serious, then I think I can’t have a meaningful discussion with you.

  • Twinkle

The ones that didn’t mind playing for an IOU that was Scrawled on greasy remnants of take out boxes from IHOP notwithstanding.lol

  • 24

Wait…you just said that RM did all these good things, yet he should be fired if the coaches and players fail to execute?

  • 1960AutumnWind
