Sheets gets a look from Raiders

With Rashad Jennings and Darren McFadden scheduled to hit free agency, the Raiders worked out Canadian Football League running back Kory Sheets Tuesday, according to several reports.

Sheets, 5-foot-11, 208 pounds, was the Most Valuable Player in the Grey Cup for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, gaining 197 yards on 20 carries in a win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Undrafted out of Purdue after gaining 1,131 yards as a senior, Sheets spent time in camps with the 49ers, Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers without sticking. Sheets gained 1,277 yards and averaged 5.6 yards per carry in 18 games with Saskatchewan in 2012 and 1,598 yards in 15 games in 2013.

The Raiders have exclusive negotiating rights with their own free agents until March 8. Coach Reggie McKenzie said he is attempting to bring back Jennings, but expects McFadden to test the free agent market.

– Quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo is scheduled to interview with the Cleveland Browns for their opening at offensive coordinator under new coach Mike Pettine.

DeFilippo was re-signed by the Raiders, reportedly to a one-year contract, and can only interview with another team if given permission by the club. He was a finalist this past offseason for the head coaching job at James Madison University.

I never gave Fresno State the easy way out. Fresno State, as a team, was pretty bad in that game, especially the defense. Adams was the lone player to have a good game. Carr started off good, then hurt his shoulder at the end of the first quarter. He struggled after that.

BTW, Bortles left a lil something on your chin….

I think I’ve eluded to my disdain regarding homophobic references. . .I could retort with the same with your “mancrush” with Carr, but seems you possess a mother’s protective blankie around “your boy. . .”

Jermiah thinks the Seaslugs will invest their #1 pick on Adams. That would be a good fit as he can learn the entire route tree & blossom in their system. . .he is as gifted a hand catcher as any receiver in this draft. I’m not sure if the pundits consider him a potential #1 or #2 WR; I didn’t see enough of him to evaluate, , ,I would imagine his ability to accelerate out of breaks & set up routes will determine that. . .

I read a BSPN article about Odell Beckham & Jarvis Landry today. They think Landry is more prime time ready now but note the vast improvement of Beckham since early in the year, particularly in route running & hand catching. . .. They think he will be an “X” but I think if his route running improves he should be a “Z. . .” I think of bigger receivers as “X’s” & #1,s are usually “Z’s. . .”

Girlfriend just got back from dinner with some work cohorts, so she requires some attention. . .
