Raiders sign RB Kory Sheets

Raiders press release . . .

The Oakland Raiders have signed RB Kory Sheets, General Manager Reggie McKenzie announced Wednesday.

Sheets entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with San Francisco in 2009 and spent time on the 49ers’ practice squad before being signed to the active roster of the Miami Dolphins later that season. Sheets was with Miami from 2009-10, appearing in two games and totaling one rush for five yards. After being waived by the Dolphins, the 5-foot-11, 208-pounder spent time on the practice squad of the Carolina Panthers in 2011.

Following his first NFL stint, Sheets played two seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League from 2012-13. In his two years in the CFL, Sheets totaled 2,875 rushing yards on 516 attempts (5.6 avg.) and 23 touchdowns. He also added 781 receiving yards on 86 receptions and two touchdowns. Sheets was named the 2013 Grey Cup Most Valuable Player after rushing for a Grey Cup-record 197 yards on 20 carries with two touchdowns in a win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Sheets played four years at Purdue (2005-08), finishing his collegiate career ranked second in school history with 3,341 rushing yards on 664 carries, and holding the school record with 48 rushing touchdowns.

The apologists were fond of saying he didn’t practice well but just ‘made things happen’ in game situations. i’m not concerned.

    Sorry, I have adblock.

It’s been a bad year….. But we will bounce back (if Jimmy Buss od’s and Jeanie takes over) We always do….

“Bad fit,” Gannon said, asked if Manziel would be right for the organization, which picks No. 5 overall in the May 8-10 NFL draft and would likely have to trade for a higher pick if it wants the former Texas A&M star. “Only from the standpoint that I think a team has to be ready for a young quarterback. I don’t think that team is quite ready yet.”

    ========================================================

I’ve been trying to tell them, Mr. Gannon.

  • The Beeeeech Dawg

Yeah the fat, slow buss spawn are the only thing gettin’ in the way of MO RINGS

We need some PMPP magic to get a top 5 draft pick, land Love, then a few dope homies in FA

  • FourMoreYears

I actually don’t mind Pryor sticking around. If he can improve again as much as he did last offseason he could give McLovin a run for his money. If not then we haven’t lost anything.

  • R8erEduc8er

Pryor’s fate is in his hands. If he stays, fine. If he goes, fine.

  • Davy Jones

That’s about how I see it.

  • R8erEduc8er

    PFT:

The Raiders are closer than many realize to turning things around. At a time when too many teams are too impatient with their coaches, it was smart for owner Mark Davis to stick with Allen. Otherwise, he could have ended up being the franchise’s next Mike Shanahan, winning a Super Bowl with another team — possibly in the same division.

    Agreed.

    LOL

I would like to see a follow up question to that, and see if Gannon thinks that with the cap space and draft picks we have if we could assemble a team that would be more “ready” for Manziel. I think the answer is yes, and Gannon went on to say that he really liked Manziel as a QB.

Looked in the mirror? Smelled yourself?

Love will be in purple & gold in the future…….. We’ll be back hanging banners in a few years…. They cant spoil us every year….

  • _Mista_

    Read your post.

  • FourMoreYears

Oh yeah, KC can’t wait to run Andy Reid out of town to pick up DA.

  • aig-raiders

I have no problem with this. We know what he has to do. It’s up to him to meet those expectations of being a successful qb. We will not have time to wait for him.

  • Chino

Ray rice could be cut. Get em reg!

  • R8erEduc8er

My post reads: “Looked in the mirror? Smelled yourself?”

  • iowaraider

8 days since the last post….were Jerry and Steve canned? Are they on strike? Did big Reg pay them off not to write anything without his say with a couple of all-you-can-eat passes at IHOP?

  • accupolco gold aka elmo

Thanks. I can smell it. I’m getting closer.

A major piece to surrounding him with talent would the #5 pick used to draft him.

  • _Mista_

    Your post above that.

    LOL x 2

  • _Mista_

They are on the 0hbama HC website, they should be done by saturday.

  • R8erEduc8er

    Como?

  • Davy Jones

Does DA’s player evaluation carry much weight? “After watching film I wasn’t going to trade for Pryor, but when I heard Dennis Allen call him a talented young QB, I changed my mind”

  • http://Raiders.com/ Dan78

I think they are both in Canton, Ohio waiting to hear if Ray Guy has been chosen to enter the Hall of Fame….. Heard he had a great chance……

  • Davy Jones

They’re actually the Republican presidential ticket, they’ll be completely free by November 2016. ;-)

  • FourMoreYears

Yeah, but we have a pretty good corps of wideouts to throw to, we’re a free agent and a draft pick away from having a pretty good line, and we’ve got a Pro Bowl fullback and a good running back (once Jennings gets re-signed). The offense is really not that far away.

  • http://Raiders.com/ Dan78

Heard Reggie just put on his hat…..

  • Davy Jones

Can’t blame them for taking a break in between the SB and FA/Draft. Slowest time of year.

  • _Mista_

    Okie doke

  • iowaraider

If they are there, it won’t be Saturday. Try next year

  • _Mista_

    Was trying to be optimistic.

    Sorry..

  • _Mista_

Yah lets scoop up others peoples garbage.

  • Davy Jones

Unless they lose in the primary to Chris Christie. Or he sits on them.

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

Christie will be lucky if he’s not impeached.

  • _Mista_

Hey zombie, you ignored Iowas comment, why ? Shovel him your libtard drivel.

  • http://Raiders.com/ Dan78

Shout out to Nick VanExel, Eddie Jones, Ronny Turiaf, Caron Butler for grinding while we waited for our next banners to be hung during the down years……

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

My understanding is that the ACA website’s gotten a lot better.

  • _Mista_

    Ohbama told you?

Did you also know that global warming is more of a threat than terrorism?

    It’s true…thats Kerry’s understanding!

  • iowaraider

    Yes I can.

  • Davy Jones

He’s small fry, I am after the big, “Obama is a Commie Diktator” fish in the tin foil hat.

  • Davy Jones

When SHOULD they take a vacay?

  • Sir Raider Duck, OMS

No, it’s what they’ve been saying on the news. As I get health care from my employer, I’ve had no reason to go to the site myself.

  • DutchRaid
