tuck had 11 sacks last year, Houston 6. I like Houston, but not convinced he’s worth the 7 mill/, now letting veldheer go for scaffold on the other hand…..

  • Marley Bob

Rebuilding with players in their 30′s is plain stupid.
    WTF.

  • jesusraiderjim

    blah blah blah

  • Return

The argument of LH not being worth 7 or 8 or even10 million is moot once you pay Saffold 8. Overpayment is the norm. Has and had to be the norm which is what many said, knew , and has been confirmed. It’s RM’s PR squad that keeps changing the party line every 10 minutes.

  • Myopinion

You would really be upset with tuck, Woodley as pass rushers or hatcher.

  • inonewordraider

if tuck doesn’t end up here, i’m gonna have a hard time believing in reg

  • DJ Johnny

The thing I took overall from the Houston interview in Chicago is # 1? He loves the fans. Went on and on about ‘black hole’ this..’Raider Nation’ that etc. Said nothing about Reggie or DA. I take it he loves being in Chicago because Bears have a good offense to support the defense. He was talking that up big.
In keeping with JC’s and MBush’s comments where they raved about the black hole and the fans..nothing bad to say about Oakland..not even a minor shot.

  • Kamikaze_Sensei

I’m not too crazy about the signings, but we’ll see. I’m not going to throw in the towel until the season starts. I’m going to pretend that RM knows what he’s doing. We’ll find out after Week 4 if he does.

  • Marley Bob

Austin Howard was a good signing, not a ton of money for an already decent player whose best days may still be coming, like the move Reggie.

  • Raider O

He is 4-5 years younger than Tuck.

  • RaiderCDE

Gotta wonder where does RM take these guys on FA visits? Pick em up at the decrept Oakland airport, shoot over to the run-down Alameda team HQ in the middle of a warehouse district? You can see the metal factory and the huge mound of dirt from the airport cleanup from the barely high-school quality fields. Walk through the 1980′s era gym with 8 foot acoustic foam celings and all in one shower room? Afterward, take a scenic drive over to the O.co and checkout the worst stadium in the league among the pile of rusted cars and homeless people on the BART crossover? Then head over to Ricky’s for some 70′s era Raider nostalgia and wings and talk about how bad-azz the soul patrol was 40 years ago?

Not much impressive stuff to show them, is there? At least the weather is nice right now and they show off the new bridge while they find a nice restaurant in the city…

  • Marley Bob

It’s just the Saffold contract I can’t come to terms with….unbelievable.

  • 1960AutumnWind

Hey I keep seeing all these signing press’s conferences. Since Saffold is such an upgrade was wondering when the presser will happen?

  • DJ Johnny

Bears had a presser for Houston and Ryan Mundy. Denver had one for DWare.
Reggie is waiting till he has a guy he can present w/out getting booed.

  • JLofty

That’s some classic Mid-March, 12 yrs into a post-SupaBo disaster talking right there!

  • inonewordraider

every guy in here was a carson palmer guy or a Terrell pryor guy, so what the f do we know?

  • JLofty

    Agreed…

  • JLofty

i am giving him till November. Then it had better be coming together nicely…
I’m with Cork tho, what has he to show for the past two years and what are the building blocks?

  • FourMoreYears

Carson Palmer wasn’t Jesus at the quarterback position, but he was clearly the best quarterback we’ve had since Gannon.

  • Marley Bob

I can see 1 of them, but to build your DL with 30 plus guys?.

I was told we would build this thing right, and long-term.

There were younger guys available, guys entering their prime.

  • IAmAlwaysWrong

Veldheer’s base salary in 2014? a whopping $1.25 million – Reggie couldn’t afford that ?? even at RT?

  • DJ Johnny

We NEED to see a signing here soon. Lotta guys came to Oakland today.
    C’mon Reggie.

  • JLofty

It’s cuz we, the fans, rock. Give yourself a beer man, you deserve it, Raider fan!

  • 1960AutumnWind

A cruise down E 14th and play count the in plain sight drug deals? Kind of like when we counted VW bugs when we were kids.

  • Turtle named Mack

Why support the team if the town is so bad?

  • DIRT-LOT FOOTBALL

    NEW POST..

  • Kamikaze_Sensei

Yeah, I’m surprised we haven’t heard anything yet…

  • IAmAlwaysWrong

his W/L record in 25 Oakland starts was worse than JaWalrus

  • Dilly149

    who all visited today

  • RaiderCDE

Get em some of that fine poon down on 12th. Those b*tches put out..

  • Chino

Contracts don’t seem too ridiculous now
@RaidersBeat: –> @Jason_OTC: Austin Howard contract is pure pay as you go deal. Could be just a one year deal if he flops #Raiders http://t.co/8TAo8xSRP7

  • BossKnows01

6’7 333 lbs is a beastly frame too, only 26

  • Kamikaze_Sensei

I agree, we has done very little in terms of setting the foundation. I would say our LB core, but that can’t be given how bad our defense was. Definitely very poor.

  • Raidertalk

I guess we’re a scout team for ARZ now?!

  • RaiderCDE

Love the team, just pointing out the real. RM has a very very very tough sell.

  • Return

I wasn’t. I got them all right. I said CP would get a lot of yardage, throw a lot of interceptions, and be a loser. I said back even when Wilson was in the conversation and McGloin not a glimmer that for all camps to be patient. Given the porosity of our OL all QB’s would play and DA should be grooming a QB corp instead of playing favorites over qb’s.

I was right about that then and I’ll be proven correct about this impending disaster at LT this season too.

  • Return

    Wrong. JC was.

  • BossKnows01

Glad to see Revis was cut, that means RM didnt bite on a 1st or 2nd rounder in return

  • FourMoreYears

Captain Checkdown? You’ve lost your mind.

  • Chino

@AdamSchefter: CB Darrelle Revis and the New England Patriots have reached agreement on a one-year, $12 million deal, league sources told ESPN.

  • FourMoreYears

In his one year here, he threw for nearly as many yards as Jamarcus (65 yards short), and more touchdowns than JaFatty did in his entire career.

  • Return

But I still have my sight and I can count.

  • FourMoreYears

    Lol

I like JC, but he was a make no mistakes, don’t lose the game kind of QB. Nothing wrong with that, but I wouldn’t say he is better than Palmer.

  • Dilly149

not worth it– now if this was the raider espn would be saying this was outragous but cause its the patriots its a great deal….

  • JV.

While we wait, What if out of no where…

Report: raiders officially sign, DE Justin Tuck, DE antonio smith, DT Jason hatcher, LB lamar woodley, CB terelle Thomas.

    Lol

  • Myopinion

I agree we don’t want to build with an old d line, but a good dline is 8 deep. Also agree there were younger guys I’d rather he went after but tuck can go inside on 3rd down. Woodley is not a every down de. So we could still have a mix of young and old.

  • Return

Didn’t say he was better than Palmer even though that would be an interesting debate. I’m saying he was the best RAIDER qb since Gannon. Numbers and results don’t lie.

  • inonewordraider

    superbowl!

  • inonewordraider

wow even the cheap pats spending

  • inonewordraider

we’re rumored to have interest in freeman and vick, pryor on the roster, Campbell released. mistic might not make it to the napkin
