Raiders slated to meet with another veteran defender

Linebacker Rob Jackson is scheduled to visit the Raiders early next week as the Raiders continue their wide-ranging search to revamp their defense.
Jackson, 28, played mostly special teams and as a reserve linebacker during his six seasons with the Washington Redskins.
However, he also flashed as a potential starter when he filled in for 14 games in 2012.
The Raiders are set at all three linebacker spots, with 2013 starters Kevin Burnett, Nick Roach and Sio Moore under contract for 2014. The Raiders also added veteran linebacker LaMarr Woodley via free agency Thursday.
Jackson played in only 10 games his first three seasons. He appeared in 44 of 48 games the past three seasons. Fourteen of his 15 starts came in ’12.
Already, the Raiders signed four players that are expected to compete for starting jobs next season.
Defensive end Justin Tuck, defensive lineman Antonio Smith and cornerback Tarell Brown are the others besides Woodley.

    You are wrong.

DanfromVegas I have to agree with this article. The haters do like to kick the Raiders when they are down.

  • Raider_Riff

That is where McGloin and Bortles come into play. They’d like to have both.

Problem is, who in there right minds would trade fro Shaub when we could just pick him up after he is cut.

  • Not sure what the question is, but here is the answer:

  • RediaR

The signs seem to be pointing towards even more 3-4.

  • RediaR

    Hopefully not Reggie.

  • DanfromVegas

I’m surprised more people haven’t caught on to that. It’s almost like they’re looking for anything to support their dark narrative.

  • SnBG

Reg here, I’m not trading for, looking at,sniffing for, have no taste in my mouth,am not dreaming of,care to get Schaub. I need a vet with confidence and right now Schaub is a broken QB. He may gain his confidence back but not with us.

  • SnBG

The problem for the haters here is that they have painted themselves into a corner. When we start doing well they will either keep criticizing or say they never said bad things about Reg or the team.

Uh, yes they would. Number one overall. McGloin would be a backup that O’Brien knows and trusts, that’s it.

  • SnBG

Here’s a nice article on Reg by Peter King.

  • Chino

Uh doubt it. It’s his guy

The only reason I can think of is that Reggie is not crazy about the other guys and wants to make certain that he gets him. If Schaub is cut he could go someplace else.

Well, you go right ahead and doubt it, lol. First off, I don’t think we’re shipping McGloin out. He knows the system and showed some promise last year. No reason to get rid of a guy like that, especially when you’d just have to turn around and find another backup. Even if we did, the Texans would catch holy hell for passing on a QB with the first overall pick in favor of Matt McGloin, who isn’t even considered to be a starter in Oakland. Good lord, man. Use your head.

  • Chino

You convinced me. Mcgloin could wind up starting though.

  • kuhlest

at least Sanchez is under 30

  • just sayin

    another LB? why why why

  • truepaiN

Raiders have been strictly interviewing centers for the draft. Expect Wiz to move to LG.

  • McGloin for their 5th
