ESPN reports Jones to Raiders

The Raiders added a productive veteran to their wide receiving corps Monday with the addition of James Jones, who caught 59 passes for 817 yards last season for the Green Bay Packers.

ESPN first the signing.

Jones, 29, played seven seasons for Green Bay, catching 310 passes for 4,305 yards and and 37 touchdowns as a target for both Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers.

A third-round draft pick out of San Jose State in 2007, Jones was selected by the Packers when general manager Reggie McKenzie worked in the personnel department.

Two seasons ago, James had a career-best 14 touchdown receptions. Twenty-nine of Jones’ 46 career starts have come in the last two seasons.

He joins a group of wide receivers with precious little experience, as second-year player Rod Streater led the Raiders in receptions (60) and yards receiving (888), with undrafted free agent Andre Holmes ending the season as the second starter.

Yeah, just a player with integrity who wants to be here who has ruined his career running into 8 and 9 man run blitzing fronts for the last 6years with no QB, WR’s and the worst OLine in the NFL…….re-evaluate brotha…….

  • kenchun24

Exactly. I will eat IHOP for a year if Reggie’s rebuild churns out an 8-8/9-7 season. Still don’t see it happening – not with the schedule and the roster at the moment. 5-11 at best.

I was/am real enough to not re-up my season tix because I felt the team would lose big last season. I’m also real enough to know that when it comes to truly doing the work in building a football franchise, a guy that’s actually been involved in that process for any length of time knows a helluva lot more than I do.

good job at keepin it real though Gdog. I bet your homies think you’re really cool! :thumbs up:

Aside from Flynn it’s too early to know if those were mistakes in my opinion.

I suppose I should clarify the IF in the original post… Almost did it, but thought ya’ll would understand this was/is in no way suggesting it will happen, only posed the hypothetical question.

I don’t care about some touched up photo. If you can offer me some evidence as to why our TE’s are anything above average then I’d LOVE to hear it. Plus Ive been on this blog since 06. Just saying.

  • Ian

yeah ur right, him being UD doesn’t matter. Im just saying he doesn’t have the body of work to say he is anything but average so far. Hopefully Im wrong.

Hit on your draft picks and then he will get some praise.

  • DJ Johnny

    I agree.
No Reggie hating…just Raider lovin’. That’s all it is.

    Give em credit when due.

  • severeraiderz

Neither can half of our team apparently

  • Return

So is this reconstruction or deconstruction?

  • Raiderfusion

How about we lure Tony Gonzalez out of retirement to be our starting TE. Nor/Cal is where he should play his last year, kick rocks Atlanta, you didn’t want him anyway.

  • turf toe

That’s as real as it gets, Mista. Chino wants an apology? After two 4-12 seasons? I’m with you, Mista.

  • turf toe

He better prove it or else. No excuses. He’s lucky he still has a job.

  • LondonAl

We’ve a chance but an extremely small chance. Come September I’ll be hopeful or delusional!

  • Jojo

Its not Reggie just Reggie,DA has done little if any to inspire this fan base.

  • Jojo

I wanna see this team win first

  • thebumpnrun

I disagree about the criticism part. For some unbeknownst reason, fans have eaten up the “Al ruined the franchise and we have to clean it up” and the “2 year deconstruction” excuse Reggie has been selling. That Jim Trotter article that got Zac Gilbert fired had a lot to do with getting that propaganda machine going. I’ve never seen a GM given this amount of leeway to blow up a franchise to essentially nothing and start over, especially to a rookie GM let alone an experienced team builder like Parcells.

The Raiders do not have a single star player. There is no winning team without star types. You can’t win with a roster of support players.

  • rioderek

sadly and realistically that’s not going to happen with this squad and HC. It’s virtually impossible

  • Scourge of the East

BD, it was a good one. It happens rarely but he got ya! 🙂
