Compensatory picks announced today

As part of its businees at the owners meetings in Orlando, Fla., this week, the NFL released the compensatory picks for the upcoming NFL draft.
Of note, the Raiders got shut out, with 32 picks doled out to 13 teams, with the first of those picks made at the end of the third round.
These picks aren’t randomly assigned. They are handed out as a result of each team’s net loss of free agents from the previous season vs. that team’s net gain of free agents.
So, for instance, the Raiders don’t get credit for losing players such as safety Michael Huff, defensive tackle Tommy Kelly and linebacker Rolando McClain because the Raiders released those players.

Quick vid with Allen on Schaub.

  • DutchRaid

Love a trade down…DT and DE.

  • RaidingTexas

If Reggie is smart, he’ll fool everyone into thinking he wants Carr in the hopes that some other team takes him and wastes their pick.

  • DJ Johnny

Schaub was 34/45 w/ 3 td’s that game. First two games were good. After that, the team fell apart apparently.

  • SaintKaufman

Mack I’m cool with. Barr looks like a bit of a tweener to me. Maybe more OLB than DE.

  • aig-raiders

I dont place too much emphasis on WL to a QB. There 50+ other guys on the roster.

  • aig-raiders

Not a fan of Carr either here. But Carr or Fales in 3rd or later is fine by me imho.

  • aig-raiders

    dude is pretty darn fast.

Charles Woodson’s new deal with #Raiders has more gtd than last one: $1.15M signing bonus, $1.15M base salary, $200K workout, $1M incentives

  • aig-raiders

No biggie. Act like you been there.

  • RaidingTexas

The fact that he wanted Barkley, and then took Tyler Wilson, and also traded for Flynn, makes me think he needs to hire scouts that know WTF they are doing when it comes to QBs. I just view Carr as another likely blunder in this franchise QB process. I wouldn’t draft him at all, but would consider bringing him in as a UDFA for a looksee.

  • DJ Johnny

I don’t know if DA is a good coach or not. We’ll find out this year.
If no progress made in 3 yr’s you gotta make a move.
No HC gets more than 3 years w/ no significant progress. Heck, Parcells would get canned after yr 3 under that scenario.
Let’s hope he gets it done.

  • rudegruden

Some people rather waste a year and kick the tires on a QB we knew wasn’t a QB.

  • Dakota

Man, Jim Kelly….I am no Bills fan but no one deserves to go through what that guy has gone through over the past decade…..first his son dies at age 8, and then he gets jaw cancer, and now it is back.

    Praying for you Jim!

  • SaintKaufman

The Oline played much better in this game and Matt picked apart Seattle.

  • Chino

When they plugged in Allen’s record. Ouch!!
I disagree about the lack of options though. Our receivers are very capable. With a proven qb like schaub, I’m expecting rod to hit the 1000 mark

  • rudegruden

Well said. Prayers go out to Jim!

  • RaidingTexas

And the PFT hatred starts anew:

    ProFootballTalk @ProFootballTalk2s

Did someone spike Dennis Allen’s coffee this morning? He said Matt Schaub was “on par” with AFC West quarterbacks http://wp.me/p14QSB-9rJC

  • Chino

    TP?

  • Dakota

Bummer….I like seeing when they fail at getting it over….hilarious.

  • Heck Legler

at least we got to see what Pryor and McG have to offer… but yeah, hard to argue that NewMatt is better than CP.. Whatever your gripes about Palmer, he never looked shellshocked to me.

  • rudegruden

I think Rod will. He impressed me last year. I think he’ll go on to be at least a legit #2 receiver in this league with a possibility of being a consistent #1

  • Davy Jones

Carr will be gone by the third. Probably by our second round pick. But that’s fine- Carr would not be happy sitting behind Schaub for three years. A third round QB or later probably will be.

  • SilverNBlackPA
  • Dakota

Schaub at his best is waaaaaay better than Alex Smith. But the other two probably have him I would say lol.

  • aig-raiders

Texans will trade with ATL to let ATL have Clowney. STL will take a DT to complement their 2 bookends. Jags will take Robinson/Matthews/Mack. Browns will take Watkins to complement Gordon. Raiders will have plenty of guys to choose from for their QB. I believe they will pass. Yup all top 3 hyped qbs will fall beyond the 5th pick.

  • Thec

    Yep

  • Return

Well he’s definitely better than Palmer, on par with Rivers, but Alex and Peyton are far better.

So on average DA was pretty correct.

  • Davy Jones

I’d prefer Alex Mack. Even with J Allen they aren’t winning the SB this year. Build long term

  • IAmAlwaysWrong

Phil Rivers & Alex Smith are playoff Pro Bowlers. Manning is a Super Bowl HOF guy. if Matt Schaub is anything close to ANY of them, we’ll be in good shape the next 3 years !!

  • R8erEduc8er

I think Jags take a QB.

  • Thec

Making fun of the Raids is a national novelty.
Only way to shut them up is to start winning.

  • Gdog

Depends on which Schaub we get… the 2011 model is better than anyone besides Manning.

The 2013 Schaub was worse than Pryor.

  • aig-raiders

I used to hate on A Smith but A Smith today is a much more improved version of A Smith prior to Jim Harbaugh. Matt Schaub is no where near where A Smith today playing under QB whisperer Reid and Harbaugh.

  • 559 Raider 87

There is no way STL draft a DT at #2. They have the 13th pick and their choice of DT there. ATL will trade up to the 2 spot I believe and grab Big Rob or Clowney. However, I can see a situation happening where we have all 3 QBs fall to us

  • Dakota

I am hoping for “at his best” Schaub.

  • Gdog

    No choice really…

  • Gdog

    Only hope at all really…

  • DJ Johnny

They just don’t like the Raiders gettin’ all uppity. They want us to accept our role at the bottom and it literally makes them mad when we dare to act like we don’t intend on staying there. You can tell by the tone of some of these comments and articles you see.

  • IAmAlwaysWrong

Thec, still waiting bro … take your time (lol)

  • DutchRaid

ONLY THINGS…Alex Smith is pretty quick on his feet and some pretty good decision making as of late (doesn’t throw picks). Schaub’s decision making last year, kinda bad and not that great of an athelete…

  • Return

I’m still wondering about the Texans. That Manziel hit piece by Hoge sprung up from out of nowhere. I do think JM slides. Texans looking to capitalize on the sliding qb’s.

  • Dakota

Alex Smith completed only 60% of his passes last year, and has never thrown for more than 3400 yards in a season.

When Schaub is right he is much better than Alex Smith.

Alex Smith is a game manager.

  • 559 Raider 87

Theres alot being made of DAs comments. What was he supposed to say we traded for a QB that sucks and we dont believe in

  • DJ Johnny

    Exactly.

  • Dakota

If all three QBs fall to us, I think we have to take Bortles.

  • JLofty

    Agree.

  • DJ Johnny

Manning will be 39 this season and he has those neck issues. Plus, he’s coming off a humiliating drubbing in the SBowl…after a humiliating choke job in the playoffs the yr prior.
I question that he will be everything they think next yr.

  • Gdog

Hey wait.. I am supposed to be disagreeing with you on something…

    lol

  • Thec

You are one mean spirited dude… Dang man.

Ok, i wont do the name change thingy. Send me your address so I can send you a cashiers check or money order.
