Raiders getting ‘feelers’ from other teams about trade for Pryor

It’s uncertain whether the Raiders will add another quarterback with the No. 5 pick in the NFL draft in May. However, it appears certain that last year’s starting quarterback, Terrelle Pryor, won’t be on the roster much longer.
FOX Sports’ Alex Marvez said Wednesday that the Raiders have received “trade feelers” for Pryor and that the Raiders likely will release Pryor in April if they aren’t able to trade the third-year quarterback.
Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie said earlier this week that he intends to meet with Pryor in the coming days to discuss Pryor’s future with the team that selected him in the 2011 supplemental draft.
McKenzie said he is aware of the fact that Pryor wants to be a starting quarterback. That no longer is an option with the Raiders on the heels of a trade for veteran Matt Schaub.
Also, Pryor is entering the final year of the four-year contract he signed in 2011. An earlier FOX Sports report said that Pryor asked to be traded or released, even before the Raiders acquired Schaub.
Pryor started nine games for the Raiders last season, including the regular-season opener and the season finale. In between, undrafted rookie Matt McGloin started six games and veteran Matt Flynn started one.
Raiders coach Dennis Allen said Tuesday that McGloin is ahead of Pryor on a depth chart that also features veteran Trent Edwards. In other words, Pryor is viewed as the No. 3 quarterback, at best, three months after he started the Raiders final game of the 2013 season.
The Raiders aren’t apt to get much in return for Pryor. However, it’s worth trying to see if they can get a late-round pick before they resort to an outright release.
Pryor did not return a phone call seeking comment.

hey he’s trying to get it done now. he has no choice but to go all in here… #1 hardest schedule next year with your job on the line…talk about shtty timing…if this schedule was last years and it went the opposite way this year in schedule strength… 8-8 wouldn’t look so bleak

  • DJ Johnny

And to think I remember Bears fans and media clamoring for Reggie to be THEIR GM before he came on with us.

  • BossKnows01

CP is done, will never make the playoffs again, but he will get his garbage time stats and 20 ints

  • Gdog

    No cure for PDS…

  • RaiderDirt

If you some of you ladies really wanted these FA that bad…

You should of let your voices be heard by mass multi media messaging & gatherings in front of the Raiders headquarters as me and my Raider family did last year when C.Wood came to town..

Hilarious how some are still betching over Val & Houston & now Allen..lol

Yeah. Keep it coming with the Connolly tweets.

i really wish the twitter drama would stop so people would STFU AND MOVE ON in here…

    Penn > V

  • xraided

and was a probowler in 2012… short removed… so he can’t get back to that? he just has to lose weight to get that quickness back. not hard to do with a chip on your shoulder…kind of like fuggin divorce…balooned up to 215lbs when married and got down to 175 9 months later… you just need a little push…for Penn there’s millions on the line…that’s the gigantic difference lol

  • 0ak R8rs

    Nope. Bullsht.

  • DJ Johnny

Veldheer, Houston, Jennings, and now Allen…all guys apparently Reggie wanted but couldn’t get done.
Is Reggie a GM that can “sell” the program? That plays into a GM’s job doesn’t it?

  • 0ak R8rs

    ^^^^This^^^^

  • 0ak R8rs

Well. He thinks Pryor is the Raiders only hope. That’ll tell you something I guess.

  • xraided

LMAO! some of these guys might have been there in Alameda last year for chucky… and i can respect that passion…but most are just generally whiney btches in real life as well… bad work environment…probably get teased a lot…and come on here to vent it. anybody who’s miserable throughout life is going to reflect it onto others…simple human psychology

  • DJ Johnny

Oh I’ll be getting plenty of crap from Bear’s fans over this. “He chose the Bears over Oakland even though you guys offered him more money..hahahaha”. It’s all good natured ribbing but all the same. Geez.

Honestly I figure maybe he wanted a chance to play his old team twice a year?

    Who knows.

  • xraided

every tweet and rumor these days are true because of twatter and faceplant…

  • Ted Stosterone

I’d hope for Watkins or a trade back I guess. Not particularly keen on anyone, but I’ve come to my own very amateur conclusion that Mack is overrated. He doesn’t show up at al in some games and then he’ll have 10 tackles against some junior college.

  • RaiderDirt

I believe strongly in freedom of speech + voice of free press….

    But some of there whining…

Makes me wanna shout out WHY!!

    Or STOP!!!

Or CHET THA F UP BTCH…LOL

But, like u said they probably are stuck working at a no balls allowed.dead end job an are just venting..

    So,I’ll give them a pass..lol

hard to when your regime is 8-24…but im not crying about it like most… teams lose players all the time… even home grown guys…

  • IAmAlwaysWrong

kudos to Reggie for a few things #1 not being satisfied with only Tuck/Smith/Woodley going after the QB #2 going after a big fish with real talent in FA #3 opening up the wallet – unfortunately it didn’t work out this time, but this gives me hope maybe Reggie isn’t a lost cause

  • xraided

TUCK > ALLEN … same stats, yet tuck moves inside, unlike Jared boy..and we get him cheaper…that’s some good GM work there.

  • Ted Stosterone

Wow. The experts know a lot more than I do, but I don’t see it at all. Mack looked invisible in many games and his competition was generally horrible. He had one very impressive game best I can tell. Doesn’t seem like a sure thing to me.

  • RaiderDirt

I couldn’t hold it in any longer..

    Madness i tell u, raider blogging madness..lol..

the only thing he needs to do at this point is go for the BIG HITTING DE’s in the draft… there’s so many of them…go DL and trade up for it again to hit on another one if you have to(like back into the 2nd or 3rd round)…i’d rather get 2 bad azz QB killers than 4 scrubs/decent players

  • jesusraiderjim

    Time will tell

  • LB32

He was compelled to spend the money on someone to reach the minimum.

  • xraided

and watch them not do anything with cutler … when it’s all looked back in in the future…DA BEARS wont have achieved jack sht either…just like us…who cares lol

  • xraided

now that i really do think about it…i’d rather reg go after DJax if released…spend the money on something we dont have…a guaranteed game changer. Tuck is our Jared Allen this year… we didn’t absolutely need two of the same kind of wiley pass rusher . i’m actually glad this move didn’t happen for $9 mill… that’s waaay too much

  • Gdog

I have two Bears fans on Facebook and they both mentioned not just Allen, but Houston too…

  • Raiders for Life

Interesting, according to Pro Football Focus Donald Penn has 29 accepted penalties for 229 yards.
JV has 36 accepted penalties for 284 yards.

  • irjonny

yup we got 12 mil in cap space after draft picks. gotta spend 95%. get DJAX

  • mikeschoice

how many seasons- donald has played longer

  • xraided

DJAX says to his TEAMMATES he’s staying..not to the people making the decisions…lol! i think he’s just saving face like reg is doing with the V situation… everyone around the league close to the situation gave him a 5% chance to be retained… that’s a toughy when the eagirls have so many other holes to fill on their leaky defense for example

  • Raiders for Life

Penn since 2007. JV since 2010. 3 seasons longer.

  • xraided

    bing badda boom yano?
thank you for this… didn’t bother looking this up myself to prove what i said below lol

  • irjonny

yeah. chip kelly is back tracking cause he lost all his trade leverage after the media got a hold of this…… Guard Evan Mathis is on the block for the eagles too, pro bowler

  • Raiders for Life

    Maybe.

  • xraided

maybe? penn is the better player here

  • Raiders for Life

Not sure what yano means. Anyway it seems in 2007 some of Penn’s penalties were for personal foul and unnecessary roughness. He got over it.

  • xraided

doesn’t matter at this point….that’s all in favor of penn regardless

  • Raiders for Life

    My bad, Pro Football Reference.

Easy to say tp2 can’t play QB when tr current staff sucks at getting the most out of him. If DA were on JHar’s level I’d agree. But he clearly isn’t. Schaub I coming to a team with no rushing game. No top tier WR and project TE’s. A line in shambles with no cohesion and a D in total flux from the year before that was spotty at best. But you think statue Schaub is gonna fly in and be better than tp2? Pryor won more games last year than Schaub. Put Pryor on the texans and I believe he helps them win more than 2 games. And how did Schaub help Case Keenum? So how is he gonna help McGloin or whoever the Raiders draft? I mean we coulda got Kitna to do what we are about to with Schaub. Schaub was in the NFC title game a year ago? No he wasn’t. He’s never been past the divisional round. Ever. And it was three years ago they actually made the playoffs with that roster. Won their wild card lost the divisional and then it was 2-14. So what is he gonna do with less talent than the texans around him? Exactly. But we are hoping that a coaching staff, who couldn’t coach up three different style young QB’s, are gonna be saved by this veteran? No I ain’t buying it.
Lastly. If Pryor was a Niner he’d be the guy set to make 18 mil a year right now. But he’s got Da not JHar as his coach. He seeds what’s going on. He’s got a HC and OC that can’t help him reach his potential. The second he finds a HC and OC like the Niners have Pryor could very well be successful at the NFL level. Come on even Tim Tebow got his team in the Playoffs and won a game. If he can do it. And Schaub could do it after years of not making playoffs then tp2 could’ve done it with the right coaching…
