Schaub trade linked to reworked contract

As expected, the Raiders trade for quarterback Matt Schaub came about only after Schaub agreed to a restructured contract that lessened the financial liability for the Raiders.
Schaub, 32, was slated to earn $10 million in base salary in 2014, $12.5 million in ’15 and $14.5 million in ’16 under terms of the contract extension he signed with the Houston Texans in 2012.
The USA Today reported that Schaub’s reworked contract calls for him to earn only $8 million next season – a $3.5 million roster bonus due in April and a $4.5 million fully guaranteed base salary.
Schaub’s base salary jumps to $5.5 million In 2015, according to the report, but his overall payout is $8 million less than what he was slated to make overall under his Texans contract.
Also, the final year of Schaub’s old deal was deleted.
Schaub is the Raiders unquestioned starter for 2014 based on comments made by general manager Reggie McKenzie and coach Dennis Allen.
If he plays well enough, Schaub has the potential to earn an additional $6 million — $3 million this season and $3 million in ’15 — through incentives based upon playing time and statistics.

Thanks for making my point. Pretty much anything the national media says about us is wrong.

As contradictory as your pre FA and post FA opinions of Jared Veldheer?

  • Goldie7

I apologize for being from the “old-skool” but who the heck is MJD? Maurice Jones-Drew? Just wanna know.

    31. Jacksonville Jaguars (29th)
    PB: 23rd, RB: 32nd, PEN: 29th
Stud: Hmm. We’re not allowed to pass so Uche Nwaneri (-0.3) gets that nod here. Probably best we move along from this quickly.
Dud: He’s not getting any better is he? Will Rackley (-32.7) is a disaster waiting to happen and in a division that features J.J. Watt that’s just asking for trouble.
Analysis: They traded away their star left tackle, watched as their rookie first round pick went on Injured Reserve and at the season’s end said goodbye to their long-term center. Performance was perhaps secondary to the coaches getting a chance to evaluate which of the 11 lineman they used they wanted to keep around. Unfortunately, the talent level just isn’t there right now.

    andre brown is better.

Bro you staying clear of the militarized zone down in the ALBQ. Look at the cops wrong down that neck of the woods you might get capped. Keep your head down Bro. Keep Mimi safe too.

  • RaiderCDE

MJD is another vet in the locker room – former pro bowler, lead the league in rushing, 29 years old – fits the same mold as the other signings. Putting together a team with a bunch of pro bowlers from 2010-2012. Question is who is the odd man out – Sheets or Stewart? Stewart is a key special teams player as was Jennings too..

  • 0ak R8rs

There r no contradictions there. I’ve always known he was a top 15 LT. One of the best players on our team, unfortunately. Also know his run blocking was weak and he got his share of holding penalties. And that he loaded up on roids and blew out his tricep, his first significant injury ever. I wanted him resigned. He didn’t wanna be here. My opinions on the matter have been exactly the same for 6 months.

  • Dr. Hunter S. Thompson

    Fits the same mold.

Do you mean moldy of just a washed up, oft injured scrub?

  • RaiderCDE

    kinda

  • Davy Jones

Not just “media” media, though. Charley Casserly and Bill Polian both disagree with you, to name only two that I am 100% sure of.

I went on this rant the other day about the protests and what not.
Next morning, wake up, blasted some dude outside his house.
I am in a much safer place today……El Paso , TX, lol

  • Raider O

That can’t be? You have to win when you draft OL in the 1st.

  • RaiderCDE

MJD can return kicks too – not that they matter much anymore these dayz.

  • Davy Jones

You don’t know about the roids. And I bet if I dipped into your archive I could find a shinier outlook on JV.

  • 0ak R8rs

Neither one of those guys know our team and needs in depth. I respect both. But when they specifically talk about this team they r wrong more than right. They look at $65 million and wonder why we lost our LT. There was a lot more to it than money.

  • RediaR

I really don’t think he can anymore.

  • RaiderCDE

I’d take MJD over DMAC – considering career production

  • RediaR

So would I but that is a very low bar to hurdle.

  • 0ak R8rs

Unlikely. I’ve always known him for what he is. And to be clear, I was never really down on him. Not now either. Just stating facts. And some strong suppositions. Just like you.

  • RediaR

    Hopefully McFadden.

  • Dr. Hunter S. Thompson

Me too but MJD is toast.

  • Return

You know I’ve wondered about that too. Say the Raiders trade for him and forces him to prove he can make the roster. If not they cut him. On the other hand suppose a player doesn’t want to play for the team so he makes it his business not to make the roster. He is then a FA. Yes its late for him to look for teams but Raiders are completely up the creek with their qb situation. That’s why I think no qb would have accepted his Houston terms coming on to a new team. And in reality he didn’t get 10 million guaranteed but has the potential to make more than that his first year. I say good deal for both parties.

  • http://AdvoCare.com/ Till death do us part

No raider back led the league, let’s beleive he got tired carrying a franchise with no QB , sound familiar

  • BigBenRexor

    New Post, Same old $h!t

  • 0ak R8rs

Yea. Lis Franc twins in the backfield. Still, I’m intrigued by the possibilities. More big “ifs” but could pay off.

  • Davy Jones

According to apologists. But I say the Bobbi Fleckman rule stands in the NFL: money talks and bullsh*t walks. Familiar with the situation or no, not too many are going to look at a gm with $65 million and a tag who let his best player get away with too much sympathy. You don’t have to agree, but you’d be a fool to expect differently.

  • http://AdvoCare.com/ Till death do us part

    So you didn’t get first?

  • RaiderCDE

MJD had a down year but still crushed DMAC’s numbers. 1117 total yards, 803 yards rushing..

  • http://AdvoCare.com/ Till death do us part

Love the player can’t stand the beer
