    you nailed it columbo

    jaja

  • Gdog

You can spin it any way you want Charlie… we all are sick of it. But if Reggie didn’t want to keep CP past one season, he should never have restructured him in the first place. That, sir, is the problem.

You seem to act like he had no choice but to restructure, and maybe so… but once he went all-in on a restructure like that, you have to be willing to keep him on the roster for more than one year or you OWN the dead money. You break it— you BUY it.

GM 101.. he then doubled down on the dumb by restructuring Flynn too, and now we have an extra 2.6 mill in dead space on THIS years roster too!!

  • Alex7

with D’s getting a penalty for so much as sneezing on a QB, I don’t think Manziel is as big an injury risk as we make him out to be. It’s not like he’s out there playing the 2002 Ravens week in and week out.

I don’t really “fear” him running around against the Broncos, Chiefs, or Chargers 6 times a year. He’s also a heck of a pocket passer, will improve and keep learning how to avoid hits, when to slide, run out of bounds, throw it away, etc. kid’s a gym rat so he’ll only improve.

  • FourMoreYears

    lmao hraka

  • Alex7

former QB Jim Miller, on scrambling vs non-scrambling QB injuries:

“I don’t care if you’re an immobile guy like Peyton (Manning) who may or may not run the ball, but let’s say you fake a play-action and your quarterback has to scramble – it potentially exposes him to one more hit,” Miller told USA TODAY Sports.

  • 0ak R8rs

I’d split The Hobbit in half.

  • TrevJo

We aren’t Arizona. If you want to play that game, Palmer made more than $3M per win for us in 2012. I’m not defending the Flynn signing on any level but you can’t justify keeping Palmer based on dollars per win considering what he did here.

  • Gdog

We had a ton of space this year, plus we also used CPs savings on signing Schaub plus Flynn’s idiotic dead money too!

Personally I wish CP was our QB for the fourth year… we wouldn’t be having all these insane continuity problems that STILL might not be solved next year if Reggie passes on a blue chip QB in the draft!

  • TrevJo

    I don’t think that and I didn’t imply that.

  • 0ak R8rs

There r no blue chip QBs in this draft. How could he pass on one? That must be a trick question….

  • Alex7

we look at injured QBs the last few years:

Bradford, Rodgers, Cutler, Ponder, Hoyer, Campbell, Locker, Brady’s knee a while back…

not exactly a large number of scrambling QBs there. Guessing IF you are a scrambler, you have more experience getting down and avoiding hits.

  • Gdog

Yea, according to draft expert Oak.

    Very convincing!

  • Alex7

Certainly CP would have given us stability at the position, and he’s at least NFL average…

but he seems like a constant 7-9 type of QB that would both NOT make the playoffs with us and NOT bottom out and give us a top pick to get a true, young, future QB.

  • inonewordraider

biggest boom or bust picks, manziel, barr, evans, nix?

  • Charlie

    Dog and Others
The problem sir is the INITIAL contract that was due to Plamer through 2014!
As I said “putting toothpaste back in a tube” is what you seem to think Reggie should have been able to do.
Then you have the confluence of nothing but compensatory picks in 2012 when this crisis needed to be dealt with.
Then you have $126 miilion due to 19 players at the beginning of 2012.
Then you have TP as a backup.
You then seem puzzled that Reggie followed the path he was FORCED to follow because his predecessors removed ALL of his negotiating leverage.
Said another way, two years later we have Schaub and are under the cap with all our picks in rounds 1-4. See the difference two years makes under good management?
Further evidence to support the fact that Reggie has done a solid job; He and DA are still here after consecutive 4-12 seasons.
NFL people KNOW the pile of crap Reggie has had to work around.

  • 0ak R8rs

First of all, I surely know at least as much as you. Second, it’s not just me. It’s Mayock and Gannon and Simms and Esiason and Jaws and several others. And I’m not just talking about The Hobbit. Most experts agree none of these QBs r worth a top 10 pick, even tho they expect some QB needy teams will reach for one or two of them. That’s NOT blue chip. There should be very little doubt in “blue chip” even of there r no certainties. All of these QBs have big red flags.

  • inonewordraider

if your guy is gone at #5 and we trade back, how do you guys feel about pryor or mosley?

  • Upyrazzkickinfootballs

    ok…you did good here.
    i like your thinking.

  • RaidingTexas

Thanks to a defense capable of giving up 56 points to Captain Checkdown.

  • RaidingTexas

You warming up to Johnny? I thought you were solidly against him at some point.

  • RaiderDebo

I’ve tried to make this point in this board for years, to no avail. The pocket is the most dangerous place on a football field. A QB that can move and play outside the pocket is gold.

  • Gdog

You don’t lose your way to winning. Unless of course you are Indy, and thats a once every 50 year scenario. You get yourself to respectability and then add pieces.

  • inonewordraider

interesting point regarding the rules, although pryor is a big boy and he got hurt by the broncos, but have to believe your more susceptible to injury if you run and are smaller of stature

Look douch … CP would have been QB last year here with 31 of the other GMs regardless of your annoying and endless back flipping.

He screwed up… and I am sick of hearing the EXCUSES.

Grow up.. Reggie screwed nearly everything up his first two years.

That doesn’t mean the team is screwed forever though because he DID pick up some nice veteran help.. now all he has to do is absolutely hit a grand slam with this draft loaded with studs!

  • FourMoreYears

anything at all on the new stadium?
    by deeMo 2:36 PM

There is no new stadium in Oakland.
    by scorkran 2:36 PM

    Very droll, Cork.

  • Gdog

    Mnlps here I come!

  • RaidingTexas

Here’s hoping it plays out like Super Bowl XI in front of you!

  • R8erEduc8er

Cork likes to state the obvious.

In a chat a while back during the season, I asked if there was any details on L Murray’s injury (similar to your question).

He responded, “L Murray is out for the season”.

    No schyt, Sherlock!

  • kuhlest

That right, iceman, I am bold!

  • Buckarama

I can even make that one!

  • OhioRaider

No, he didn’t. He fixed the cap situation. He made the franchise solvent. He has enough picks this draft to make a difference.

  • OhioRaider

Folks still trying to salvage Pryor on the chat. Lol.

  • Charlie

    DOG
Bottom line is that if Reggie screwed up as bad as you say why does he still have his job?
Why was he offered a four year deal in the first place?
You are in the vast minority if you do not see how well he has done.
If all your feeble little mind can process is the last two years you are not worth spending any more time on. You obviously do not have a strategic thought in your mind.
As I said this is a 3-5 year rebuild when Reggie got the job. Reggie and DA are still here after consective 4-12 seasons because all the very real barriers to success (you ignorantly refer to as excuses) I have described in detail are well accepted by knowledgable football people.
You clearly are not among the knowledgable.

  • OhioRaider

Why you still arguing with these guys? It’s hopeless. They sit around gnawing on their undershorts all day imagining they could run this franchise.

  • BigBenRexor

The Rookie GM and Rookie HC still have their jobs because their Rookie boss doesn’t know what he’s doing either. 8-24 isn’t a good job regardless of prior, or current circumstances.

Charlie says, “Football is all about winning!”
“I’ve lost 3/4 of my games,” Reggie says.
“You idiots just don’t know what to look for”, Charlie says.
    Reggie and Charlie are friends.

Excerpt from Reggie and Charlie Are Friends, available at a Barnes and Nobles near you.

  • Charlie

You are right. Simpletons like Gdog, NYC and Rexor just want to hate.
Wonder what they will want complain about when we start winning this year?
Probably will not be happy that we did not win by enough.

  • Charlie

I just have the ability to comprehend strategic thoughts and see the plan. You on the other hand apparently do not see how having a guy like Schaub at QB, being under the cap and having picks 1-4 in this draft is a massive improvement over what Reggie was handed.
Here is your pacifier liitle one. Take a nap and wake up when the heavy lifting is done so you can show the world what a front runner you are.

Posted by rrogers in chat: “bridgewater is the only top QB prospect with hands smaller than mine. that’s a big red flag.”
    ————————
actually Carr, Murray, and Bridgewater all have 9 1/8″ hands. Personally I don’t consider Carr a top prospect and some don’t consider Murray a top QB prospect, but there you have it

  • DJ Johnny

I’ll be at Lambeau for the GB game.

  • Blackholepriest

They also the pile of crap he has created………period

  • Blackholepriest

Then he better get it done! right??

  • DJ Johnny

    A 7-9 QB that just took a 4-12 team to 10-6?
He’s like many very good QB’s who need a decent WR or two to throw to.
Having 2 of his receivers in the top 4 of the entire league in catchable drops didn’t help.

  • Mac Attack

Corkran loses all credibility when he keeps hyping Manziel, and just because he didn’t get hurt in college due to his run first mentality does not mean it won’t happen in the NFL. The defenders last time I checked were bigger, faster, better and much less prone to letting small, not really fast, hot dogs run around. He will be crushed!
