Raiders meet with Mettenberger on Tuesday

The Raiders pushed up their meeting with Louisiana State quarterback Zach Mettenberger to Tuesday as Mettenberger attempts to accommodate a number of suitors.
Mettenberger’s pro day is scheduled for Wednesday. Rather than cram in too much that day, Mettenberger set up meetings with the Raiders and New England Patriots on Tuesday, according to NFL Network.
He is the latest in a long line of quarterbacks that the Raiders are checking out in advance of the NFL draft. Earlier, the Raiders attended the pro days of Blake Bortles, Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater, David Fales and Derek Carr.
The Raiders hold the rights to the fifth pick in the draft, which begins May 8. It’s conceivable that the Raiders will use one of their picks on a quarterback, even though they have four on their roster right now.
None of the four on the Raiders roster – Matt Schaub, Matt McGloin, Terrelle Pryor and Trent Edwards – is considered a long-term solution.
Mettenberger still is recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament that he suffered in a game late last season. The injury required surgery, but Mettenberger said he intends to go through all the drills expected of a quarterback in a pre-draft workout.
Manziel, Bortles, Bridgewater and Carr are viewed as likely first-round picks. Fales and Mettenberger are projected to go in the mid rounds, perhaps as high as the second round.
Therefore, if the Raiders use their first-round pick on a player at a position other than quarterback, Mettenberger becomes more of a possibility.
The Raiders hosted Manziel at their facility on Sunday and Monday. More quarterbacks are slated to make their way to Alameda in the coming days for face-to-face visits with coach Dennis Allen, general manager Reggie McKenzie, offensive coordinator Greg Olson and quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo, among others.

No. Based on YOUR faulty logic.

  • kenchun24

Well that’s the rub right…McShay since forever with his Scout’s Inc rankings had one QB in the overall player rankings top 32 (at #10 I recall) that was Teddy. Now it’s Bortles, but still at #10. With Teddy then Manziel in the top 20.

That’s where I do agree with Mayock and his stance:

“If any of the top ten teams are thinking taking a QB, just be sure to do your homework, and have full confidence in drafting the guy you like. Because the other non-QB positional players are prospectively sooo good, you want to make sure the QB you get is gonna be as good or better than them.”

But also, the drafts an F-ing crapshoot IMO lol…let’s just hope whoever the Raids take, they get a perennial 10-12 year pro, healthy, productive and maybe special like a C-Wood/Timmy Brown or Stabler (if they go QB at #5).

you have to be right don’t ya!. you defend jadumski and i made my point and now ur throwing a fit because i made ur little point look silly. you weren’t calling Sanchez the future GOAT after his 2nd AFC title game so why are leaving the door open on CRAPerneck after his epic meltdown against the hawks? YOU are a fruity niner fan and to that all i can say is PLOP! WOOOSH!!!

  • PrometheusISgodoftheblog

Sanchez beat the best and you never said he could be the GOAT? but you leave it open for CRAPerneck..awwww nothin finer than a FRUITY NINER! you’ve made the list.

  • Ian

Hah I see what you’re trying to do. Got us defending the enemy now? Tricky.

Words, words, words. Like I said down below the stats back up the claim that Kap is better than Sanchez any day.

  • PrometheusISgodoftheblog

    Manning has 500 TDs a SB rigm 13 4,000 yd seasons, 4 MVPs. 70 k yards. he’s proven himself

  • AutumnThunderstorm

Is anyone planning to go see ” Draft Day?”

  • 0ak R8rs

I’m not throwing a fit at all. You actually seem to be the one melting down. I don’t HAVE to be right. Been wrong plenty, got no problem admitting it. But your trying to discredit Jaws opinion on The Hobbit, which I believe in, with something g he said about Kap, who’s done notjbg but win championships. So yea, I’m gonna defend my point. Particularly against your ridiculous Sanchez comparison.

My cousin, a lifelong Browns fan was in the Marine Corps, stationed in San Diego in ’83. He had a buddy that was a Big Steeler fan, so they drove up to see the playoff game.

And watch Marcus shred the remnants of the Steel Curtain. Made Lambert look silly in the open field. Stepped on Donnie Shell and leaped into the end zone.

Sometimes, we’d be sitting around at a family get together..drinking and playing poker, lol.

He’d bring that up. Rub it in. I’d say: “You MF’er. I hate you. How are those Browns doing this year?” LOL.

  • PrometheusISgodoftheblog

we have some fruity niner fans on this blog. really sickening

  • Alex7

Keep has done more in less time comparing his and Manning’s first 2 years starting.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

already had $50 with jimmy(big Skins fan) on the game and and went to the liquor store at half time and swung by his house and yelled out double or nothing 2 TD win. He naturally yelled back both F U and YES. Hah!
A couple yearslater he’d lost his job and was helping me out and I needed to send him to my bank for funds and had to give him my code. He was about to write it down and i said don’t bother, It’s 3809. His look was priceless..

  • DJ Johnny

I am. I’m gonna see if I can get a black market copy of it from the Mexican flea market first.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    True story.

  • PrometheusISgodoftheblog

bradshaw did more too so Bradshaw> manning then. don’t make me educate you again

  • 0ak R8rs

That’s not what I asked. Kap has half as many championship appearances in two years than Manning has in his entire HOF career. Wanna go there? Meltdown.

  • BossKnows01

its being billed as good as field of dreams, i will definitely watch it, rather see the Raiders on Hard Knocks, that would be must see TV

  • PrometheusISgodoftheblog

Craperneck>Marino.. Craperneck did more in his first 2 years and hasn’t missed the NFC title game so THERE!

  • Blackholepriest

Kappy while obviously still learning as I have said many times about young QBs. Has done amazingly well, eventhough he benefits from a great team he doesn’t hurt them the way Sanchez hurt his team.

It just takes a young QB 30-50 starts to reach their ceiling. Most people hate that and fans are way too impatient. If the fans could they would’ve benched Kappy as the fans in Seattle wanted to bench Wilson. Too impatient you will see both QBS start to excel between the next 10-20 starts.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Is that te Windy city or te Wind-y city?

  • PrometheusISgodoftheblog

so its about SBs? well ok then BRADSHAW>MANNING by your own argument. just stop you embarrass raider fans

  • AutumnThunderstorm

Maybe they realize that Clowney, Watkins, and Mack are going to be drafted in the first four picks; so we need to be ready to draft the best QB in this class.

Remember other fans, HCs, GMs, & owners might feel the same as us.

  • BossKnows01

My Pacquiao Bradley prediction: Pacquiao TKO in 12th

  • 0ak R8rs

Championships. I misspoke. What a meltdown you’re having? How ru feeling right now? A little embarrassed? Slightly humiliated? It’s ok, we’ve all been there. Well, some of us have.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

They can hang in that coldass town?

  • kenchun24

I like Ivan Reitman so I’ll check it out, but more like in 3 months on demand/rental etc…I’d rather see the gritty, ’70s spy thriller in the guise of a “SuperHero movie” Captain America: The Winter Soldier on the big screen again.

  • Blackholepriest

Too impatient with young QBs expectations too high.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

I never have conversing with you.

  • 0ak R8rs

Means a lot from a self proclaimed Charger fan. You said it yor self 20 minutes ago. And I love how you try and make a point, and a bad one at that, an I prove you wrong and now I’m a fan of the Niners? More awesome logic. Wasn’t aware that I was arguing w a 12 year old. My mistake.

  • RediaR

    Well there goes his credibility.

  • PrometheusISgodoftheblog

aww now you misspoke. point is bradshaw accomplished more than manning or brady so he must better too

  • PrometheusISgodoftheblog

bradshaw has more super bowl apperances than manning, so bradshaw is better

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

I see it! Wait a sec. I’ll get a fly swatter. I got it, No worries.

  • PrometheusISgodoftheblog

so why didn’t you leave the door open for sanchez being the future GOAT after HIS 2nd AFC game?

  • 0ak R8rs

Once again using other players in other situations to distract and detract from the point. Bradshaw is awesome actually. It’s an embarrassment he’s not in the Hall. Is he GOAT? No way. Regardless, it’s got nothing to do w The Hobbit and Jaworskis opinion of him.

  • PrometheusISgodoftheblog

i said i don’t care about the chargers, don’t hate their fans and rivers should have been a raider. big deal, change the subject.

  • 0ak R8rs

Nobody weft said that about Sanchez. Not nearly the same abilities as Kapernick, even at his best. And once again, because Sanchez has fallen flat, has nothing at all to do w Jaws opinion of Kap.

  • PrometheusISgodoftheblog

people on here think KAP could be the GOAT because of his first 2 years. I’m just saying that Mark Sanchez went to 2 AFC title games and beat manning AND Brady his first 2 years in the playoffs on the road.

  • 0ak R8rs

Ok. If that’s how you wanna play it. I don’t necessarily agree. But Bradshaw is pretty damned good. Way underrated.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

That was a sardonicobservation,by the way. Truckee, CA doen’t even rate in national wintertime low temps, but routinely takes it in the summertime, and they are well reprsented.

  • 0ak R8rs

Nobody ever said that. Just said you can’t prove Jaws assertion that he could be is wrong. Not yet. No way.

  • Random_White_Guy

    You best be jokin’

  • DJ Johnny

Oh yeah. Chi. has a HUGE latin community.

  • 0ak R8rs

You sound like a Charger fan to me. A Steelers fan too I guess, since you think admit Bradshaw has more Super Bowls than Manning. (Let’s see how you like your own idiotic logic thrown back at you).

  • Blackholepriest

The ceiling on Kappy is Mt Everett high. Sanchez not so much.

Teams win games not QBs. Truth QB that can carry a team is very rare 9-10 times the team is carrying them.

  • 0ak R8rs

Wow. Pacquiao is still fighting? Does the AARP have a problem w that?

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

The funny thing is that many can’t handle the heat. Central Americans and particularly certain South Amerians haven’t experienced much of 100 degree+ days. They frickin melt.

  • 0ak R8rs

Don’t mind him. He’s having a meltdown right now.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

What’s up with all these Chargirl/ Frisky fans here?

  • DJ Johnny

How does someone get a 0 for an up vote?
