Who’s left from Al Davis Raiders?

There’s lots of talk about how Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie wants “his guys,” speculation that only increased when left tackle Jared Veldheer and defensive end Lamarr Houston departed during free agency to the Cardinals and Bears.

With the departure of Terrelle Pryor _ Davis’ last draft selection in the 2011 supplemental draft _ only 11 players remain from the Davis regime of the 74 players currently listed on the Raiders roster. Chances are good a player or three will be whittled from that list by either trade or release by the time the 53-man roster is finalized.

In alphabetical order, the Davis Raiders:

TE David Ausberry
T Khalif Barnes
S Tyvon Branch
CB Chimdi Chekwa
LS Jon Condo
K Sebastian Janikowski
DB Taiwan Jones
RB Darren McFadden
WR Denarius Moore
FB Marcel Reece
C Stefen Wisniewski

Two Davis Raiders _ safety Charles Woodson and center/guard Kevin Boothe, returned to the Raiders under McKenzie after originally being drafted by Davis. Chekwa was drafted when Davis was in charge, released by McKenzie/Dennis Allen, then brought back on practice squad then promoted to the regular season.

wouldn’t be mad at any of those 3 guys tho.

explosive get-off, flushed QB from pocket whenever single-teamed (3rd play), can chase down running back (4th play), tackled RB on play up the middle. Lived in the backfield. Eliminates even the possibility of 7 step drops. Hurried QB to dropped INT at 1:45. All that in the first 2 minutes of the game’s highlights.

Oh, he’s like 21 years old and will improve.

We act like there are 20 Pro Bowl DEs in the league doing more.

Yep. Clueless. No understanding of the business of football and the necessity of sustainability. Like we were good to go w Routt and CJ and Gio and Boss and Grads and Seymour. Yea. All set.

No you didn’t. Just yesterday you were talking lineman. I posted that a receiver would be a “no brainer.”

Lewan has been #2 behind Robinson with me for awhile. Both Lewan and Robinson are more nasty and physical than Matthews

  • DKnight007

Trading down a bit and taking Evans Lewan,or Donald would be okay with me

Great points but there are a few examples of players whose careers died here…And some that never fully blossomed for whatever reason.

1st: Randy Moss comes to mind (yes I know it was a work ethic issue, but look what he did when he went to a winning team), 2nd example: Robert Gallery. He even thanked Cable and the Seahawks that they resurrected his career before he retired. 3rd example: Jagarbage and Mcclain. Were they just busts or did coming
to the Raiders in particular play a part in them not fully developing?
How big or how little? We will never know.

Anyways you see my point; honestly, the perception that this is happening is more dangerous at this point then it ACTUALLY happening. Thats the point that I really want to make clear.

Link? I don’t recall saying a lineman was the guy.

No hustle, no brains and can’t tackle. Other than that, he doesn’t look too bad.
