Training camp looms on horizon

Summer vacation is nearing an end for the Raiders, which means it’s time to get up to speed on what to expect in the coming days.
The Raiders report to training camp in nine days, though they don’t practice for the first time until July 25. The first two days will be spent checking in at the Napa Valley Marriott, getting acclimated and meeting with coaches before the whistle blows to signify the start of on-field work.
The Raiders won’t be in Napa long, however. They break camp Aug. 11, three days after their exhibition opener against the Minnesota Vikings and the day before they head to Oxnard for two days of joint practices with the Dallas Cowboys.
The Raiders return to Alameda on July 17, where they will resume practice in the run up to the start of the regular season. Of note, all the Raiders practices in Napa this year are from 3 p.m.-5:40. In the past, the Raiders practiced in the morning most days.
Therefore, most of the news will come in the early afternoon and into the evening. Jerry McDonald and I will be on hand to chronicle the events, be it on Twitter, Instagram, Tout, the blog or in the paper.
The Raiders are expected to have all of the 90 players on their roster on the field the first day of practice. Cornerback D.J. Hayden and defensive tackle Antonio Smith are the lone question marks.

Just watched it. Damn cool. And I could go into a bar with him and the drummer and not be the scary looking guy. Although, with a few tats, I might get back in the lead.

S’all G……some one will just have to show Mr Damien what a old can of Shinola looks like.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

you think he’s got the schyt part down, eh?
What’s happening, Twinkle? I skillfully avoided you the other night.

Oakland Raiders Should Stop Making Moves and Just Get Down to Business
    John Doublin – Jul 14, 2014

This guy used to write for Bleccher report and bailed when they went sucky. He’s pretty good. Jay Dee or something like that.

Well hell, Twinkle, what happened there?

  • Twinkle

Life mate. And my inability to hit curve balls.I’m dispatching cabs in Marin county and it is verboten for me to be on the internet. Could care less but it’s as dead as a door nail right now so I have time to blather.Mr Damien’s forte, it would appear, is regurgitating old news……….this just in ….we suck.Rule #1 in the Universal Law of Holes………when you are in one …Stop Digging! I firmly believe we have accomplished this…….It’s onward and upward from here.
Hows it going for you young Camel herder.I hope life is good for ya.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    ‘Why would you do that?’
‘I’m not going to eat a dead bird, am I?’

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

No. Levi’s a homer. Read it. He challenges their takes. I like Levi. and he strives to keep us engaged in these doldrums.
Speaking of doldrums, how do you like the three ‘supermoons’ we’re getting in a row this year after 3 last year. It’s an unusual occurrence. And August 10th’s is a full moon at the hour of perigee. Pretty cool. The following one will be similar to this one.

  • Twinkle

It all tastes like chicken no? I like the dude that covers us for BSPN (Guitterez) now that the other guy has to report for for the whine crew (poor bastard) and that’s about it.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Oh, had a stillborn and a failure to thrive(despite herculean efforts) but 7 out of 9 were fine and that was a larger crop than normal. Buying 2 pregnant girls didn’t help and they were both fine. Outcross blood.
    I think we’re expecting 2 or 3 next year. There’s a break.

  • Twinkle

Pain in the rear end. The cab stand down in southern Marin is now a lake.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Paul(the alien) was in the crapper when the YEC girl espoused her thoughts on the ‘impossible’ evolution of the eye,at which point you hear,’Oh that’s horsecrap’ from the schytter.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    Intentionally?

  • Twinkle

Damn …you are gonna have more Llamas than you’ll know what to do with.Sorry about the youngster that didn’t make it.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Yeah. Stillborn girl you never got to know. The one that succumbs after 24 hours is harder, but still, he never had a chance to have a personality. Which does make it easier.

  • Twinkle

High Tides are part and parcel of the oddities of our moon. Like many areas of the bay this one was a swamp that got back filled and what do ya know Mother Nature still believes its still a swamp.
    Humans 0 – Mother Nature 1.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

And the magnificent 7 are pretty cool. 4 boys, 3 girls, and 2 of those boys are best buds with me. 1 almost, and 1 a work in progress. 1 girl as well, Hi Fi(Hi Fidelity).

  • Twinkle

Had a squirrel invading our house looking for a way up to her babies that had been cut off by our big live oak falling over dead.
I put boards up etc but her last heroic act was running over the nose of our pit while he slept…………a reminder that life can be very unkind.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

It can genuinely svck. and then turn around and astound you with it’s beauty and unpredictability.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

I suppose when I’m no longer astonished, you can start digging my hole. I suspect my hole will be required long before then.

  • turf toe

Right, Purvis. He should be ranked no lower than 31st.

  • timetojam

Definitely bottom 10%. It is what it is. Hopefully he’ll show something this year

  • turf toe

I predict he will spring up from that ER table and hit the ground running…
Where he will promptly fall, tear an ACL, and head right back to that table.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

I just don’t think we have anything resembling a level playing field to base our judgements on.

  • Twinkle

Up and down like a hoe’s drawers as my old man would say.Had two Anna’s Hummers nest outside the can window in the afore mentioned live oak.Was looking forward to a lesson in how Hummers are raised but instead got a bunch of feathers……an owl got the lot.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

With your chosen handle, of course you do.

  • Twinkle

What’s he had to coach that gives you this wonderful summation?

  • turf toe

I predict his blood pressure will be excellent, his heart rate ideal, and his medial collateral will sound like a Motorhead guitar string when it snaps.

  • Twinkle

You usually are so don’t be surprised.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Turf Toe. Are you really this negative or are you just going with the flow of our suckiness since you became a member of Raider Nation?

  • timetojam

He just hasn’t gotten the most out of any players on the roster, nor has he outschemed anyone. It’s possible he teaches a system geared only towards better players, but good coaches generally get more out of less. Plus he’s a defensive specialist and our defense has given up record numbers of points.

On the positive side, he’s at least a steady guy and seems to be working a system, so it’s possible it will come together. The roster is definitely upgraded this year, so we’ll see

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

I like DJ. But he has been getting negative lately.

  • Twinkle

Yes we have all been part of MacFootinjury’s career but hey it’s our part of the year where hope springs eternal. Enjoy it fool…..the realism sets in in a month.

  • turf toe

Can you do Tommy John surgery on a guy’s legs?

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

I think he got more than anyone should’ve expected in the 1st half of both ’12and ’13 with substandard talent.

  • turf toe

We could base it on his two-year record and simple observations from experts in the field.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    Probably, but not germane.

  • turf toe

He’ll show us how to blow halftime leads once more.

  • Twinkle

Lately….! by that you mean the last ten years I guess.Hey we all suffer from our dynasty that the NFL hated and still hates. The least we can do is stop hating ourselves.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

I be a perennial fool and enjoy it every time.

  • timetojam

Maybe. Our front 7 should be a lot better this year, if everyone stays healthy. Last year was a mess. Secondary is still questionable imo

  • turf toe

He should be coaching a church softball team.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Which ‘experts’ would you care to cite?

  • Twinkle

Me too. It’s the best part of our year. The crap starts all too soon.

  • Twinkle

That we will but up til that time can we get off his back?

  • timetojam

Winning cures everything. He knew that when he took the job

  • turf toe

Tonight, I just want to argue. Anyone who stands up for Allen or MacKenzie is going to feel my wrath. Both have underperformed and deserve the cold, hard stare of reality.

So, to Allen and Mac, disprove a negative. Prove you don’t suck, because I, and the record books, think that you do.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

I don’t know. I hear he has boobies on the other side. Yeah, I know. I don’t usually sink so low.

  • turf toe

    Yeah

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

They will be here this year and do indeed have to prove it to you. I think they will.
