Raiders sign Rutgers safety Jeremy Deering

The Raiders signed undrafted free agent safety Jeremy Deering to bring their training camp roster to the maximum 90 players.

The Raiders had an open spot since the release of linebacker Kevin Burnett as camp opened.

Deering (6-foot-1, 209 pounds) played running back, wide receiver and returned kicks at Rutgers before transitioning to safety. He had 39 tackles and one interception as a senior.

Other safeties on the roster are Charles Woodson, Brandian Ross, Tyvon Branch, Jonathan Dowling and Shelton Johnson.

  • I don’t care about any players, it’s about the jersey.
Not like I want him to die. But if we break his collarbone, I would consider that a great day for the defense.

MVP of that game may not mean much but the fact he was good enough to be voted in…with 2/3 of the vote coming from players and coaches shows that he had the respect of his peers as a premier player.

If it all was due to Foster and AJ then why vote Schaub in? Wouldn’t you exclude him?

I said it’s “possible” that the guy who was what he was just 2 yr’s ago can be that again. It’s no sure fire prediction…no guarantee..but it isn’t far fetched either.

Good things from camp so far add to the optimism that maybe last yr was more a fluke than anything else.

I sensed Palmer loved it here…until he realized the team was going to do nothing but schlep off an udfa and a 5th rd draft pick for him to throw to. And traded away his # 1 target at TE.

    He is ruled out.

If he were in fact 6’3″ I would think he would be on the defensive side of the ball. . .
