Lions 13, Raiders 0 at end of first quarter

Quarterback Matthew Stafford looked in midseason form for the Detroit Lions in the first quarter Friday night. Raiders counterpart Matt Schaub looked lost and unsure how to move the Raiders offense on a consistent basis.
As a result, it’s not surprising that the Lions jumped to a 13-0 lead on the strength of touchdown passes from Stafford to Golden Tate and Kris Durham.
Stafford completed eight of his nine passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns, with a passer rating of 146.5. He connected with a wide-open Tate after Raiders cornerback Tarell Brown bit hard on a double move. Durham outjumped rookie cornerback TJ Carrie on a fade route for the second touchdown.
The Raiders managed 58 yards and three first downs on the 14 plays run by the Raiders with Schaub at the helm. Schaub started off well by completing two third-down passes on plays that yielded first downs.
However, on the final play of the game-opening drive, Schaub fired a pass for wide receiver James Jones into tight coverage. The ball was knocked into the air, with Lions safety James Ihedigbo coming down with the interception.
Schaub was under pressure numerous times and forced to get rid of the ball before he could find an open receiver.

Newbies show up every bad game without a clue. Wish we didn’t have so many bad games.

It’s called insight. . .continue on to the Jets profile; get the actual take on the nuts & bolts of their offense & defensive schemes. . .

You can actually do this all season long; keep a perspective & calm your nerves. . .oh, & blame the true culprits; the players & Reg. . .

Remember what Parcels says; of you’re going to let me make the meal you should let me buy the groceries. . .

  • Howard Benner

Gee, don’t you think he has simplified his defense already? He has already done that. . .won’t have the requisite pieces for another season. . .no quality CB’s. . .no pass rush. . .duh. . .

you really don’t get this, do you? Try reading the article first. . .then comment. . .

  • Howard Benner

    I like your correlation. . .

I hate their stomping upon their rose colored glasses. . .I could do without the noise & bluster. . .bombastic bushkin sect. . .

  • DahlerStore

Does it really matter who’s fault it is though? As soon as the losses start mounting up EVERYONE is on the hot seat…….. and the losses will mount up, quickly.

  • Howard Benner

Nobody wants that to happen, but unless things dramatically improve that is the fate of the Reg/DA regime. . .regardless of the most clueless of this group, Mark Davis, think. . .

How can anyone take his “dumb & dumber” look seriously?!

  • DahlerStore

I don’t think anybody has taken him seriously – more like the benefit of the doubt.

  • Howard Benner

He’s a walking, talking joke. . .can’t believe the Raiders have gone from Al, looking like “ET” dying to a fat “Dumb & Dumber” look. . .

Adds to the “laughing stock” moniker. . .

  • DahlerStore

ET? You mean the Crypt Keeper.

  • Howard Benner

I like the wrinkled “ET” reference better. . .but if you prefer Crypt Keeper. . .which is the nickname the BSPN staff have for John Clayton. . .
