Raiders CB DJ Hayden showing some progress while working with members of training staff

Raiders cornerback DJ Hayden was moving laterally and doing some cutting with the athletic training staff Monday, the most he’s done physically while in the presence of the media since training camp began.

Hayden has been on the physically unable to perform list after having surgery related to a stress fracture and has yet to practice. Whether the Raiders hope to get him back for the season opener or will take it slow and have him open the season on the regular season PUP remains to be seen.

If Hayden goes on regular season PUP, he doesn’t count toward the 53-man roster and can be brought back six weeks into the season at the earliest.

As practice got underway Monday, those who weren’t participating during the media window included fullback Marcel Reece (foot), defensive tackle Justin Ellis (concussion), tackle Matt McCants (concussion), cornerback Taiwan Jones (unspecified injury), cornerback Chimdi Chekwa (knee), tight end David Ausberry (knee) and wide receiver Juron Criner (hip).

Allen indicated Sunday that Chekwa and Jones are being rehabbed with the target of being ready for the season opener, so neither is likely to play in the final two preseason games. Allen said that Jones was “banged up.”

Quarterback Derek Carr, who left the Detroit game with a concussion, was back on the practice field in a helmet and participating in warmups and drills.

Especially when anything beyond 25 yards is a Hail Mary for Matt IV.

  • https://twitter.com/MimiPeepeechimi Just Fire Baby

The “he clears out the safety” theory was a hold your gut laughing all-timer in here.

  • Theghostronin79

LOL….Yeah, the 50 Million dollar “Decoy” right?

  • RaiderCDE

Schaub needs to learn to pump fake alot more. Its a wiley vets best friend.

  • DutchRaid

Lol 2013, “I bet you DHB will have more yards than all the rest of the Raiders WR combined!”

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

I remember that, but not who. BHP?

  • TrevJo

    Career yards per TARGET:
    Jones 8.5
    Streater 8.5
    Holmes 8.2
    Moore 7.4
    Butler 6.1
    Little 5.5 lolz

  • Silver&BlackBleeder

The sad thing is when he throws it; half the time, he looks like he is pump faking!

  • J Hill

    Couldn’t agree more.

  • DutchRaid

Why isn’t little a five yard dump-off guy? Big, Physical receiver, punt returner, Wildcat QB…thought he would a lot of YAC value?

  • Theghostronin79

    “FACE-PALM”……I can’t help it…..I have to LMAO

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    Ditto.

  • TrevJo

“Why isn’t little a five yard dump-off guy?”

Because 5 yard dump offs are not enough reward when the risk is the guy will likely drop it.

  • BigBenRexor

Since Taiwan Jones has been lost for the Season with an “Unspecified” injury. Lets covert GAIII to CB, then have his brother from Notre Dame come in and play as GAIII.

  • Duct tape

That statement takes me back. What a joke.

  • Silver&BlackBleeder

hahaha, naaa seriously….not even joking (’cause that would be terrible), but his arm motion looks weak as sheet.

  • Duct tape

Ill pitch in on the saturday night / sunday morning plane tickets.

  • R8erEduc8er

He’s a bigger more athletic target. I wouldn’t be using him on crucial 3rd down traffic targets. He’d be running my posts…and only here and there, not starting. Those other guys are more like possession receivers.

  • DutchRaid

Lol, hands that bad…thought it was a bomb he had problems with. Not disagreeing…

  • TrevJo

Can’t speak for JFB but personally I never thought he would hesitate to get up when hit. I did however think he would have lousy pocket presence and instincts for scrambling, both of which were on display against Detroit.

  • BigBenRexor

There we go, creative GM solutions!

  • TrevJo

If I were a QB, no way I would want to be throwing deep over the middle to a guy who is likely to play tip drill with it.

  • JerryMcDonalds#1Fan

J-Stew is a lock for the 53 if Taiwan is lost for any length of time during the regular season. ST is a priority. sorry Sheetheads!!

  • TrevJo

Wait, has there actually been a prognosis? Or are you just reading between the lines? (i.e. “unspecified” injury = long term injury)

  • BigBenRexor

Unspecified injury is what took Tyvonn out last year. So I’m just following the trend. Now if DA comes out and says he doesn’t think Taiwan’s injury will be a big deal, then it could mean it’s career threatening.

  • BigBenRexor

    Jerry McDonald@Jerrymcd

QB Derek Carr cleared on limited basis. Allen not sure if he, or anyone else, will show up to play vs. Green Bay.

  • Papertiger

Well, at least it looks like we won’t have to worry about whether Olson will use Marcel Reece properly!

    FML

  • JerryMcDonalds#1Fan

rest assured, somebody will be flying around out there!

  • Papertiger

We really should practice our forfeit formations for the GB game.

  • Elliot

You are exceptional….those stats don’t tell the story…check how the Browns used little in their non vertical approach…strictly used on short routes Gordon posts

  • JerryMcDonalds#1Fan

Olson was about to have it figured out before last season ended..

  • Papertiger

Yup, and DMAC will be ready to play next week according to Hue!

  • Theghostronin79

I think they’re gonna try and push Carr to start in the opener. Just a hunch.

  • Papertiger

God it sucks that Jelly Ellis got all jammed up like that. Wanted to see what the kid could do on the field.

  • BigBenRexor

We do, it’s called the Nickel formation

  • JerryMcDonalds#1Fan

“it’s on me! put it on me! Hue Jackson missed that tackle! Hue Jackson didn’t block that guy! Hue Jackson fumbled at the goal line! Hue Jackson committed that penalty!” HAHA – that was an epic presser #meltdown

  • BigBenRexor

    +1, I’m a smucker for puns

  • Myopinion

Don’t think so. Already I think they will wanna keep sheets and Murray. I think if anything it would give them an excuse to keep an extra cb/s.

  • JerryMcDonalds#1Fan

buns too. isn’t that why you started the nickname “BigMac” for Reggie?

  • Papertiger

My only regret is that I was too drunk and bitter to stick around and watch the press conference live.

I wanted to set something on fire, I was so mad after that game!

  • Dan78

Jelly still has the concussion….. We need big boy on the field… As many reps as possible…

  • Silver&BlackBleeder

LoL God bless Hue. Couldn’t keep his mouth shut for crap. Would still have a job if he didn’t back young Mark in the corner with all that crap he was talkin’, acting like he ran the team.

  • BigBenRexor

Credit me for “McMumbles” and “McMoron” but not that one.

  • Papertiger

I don’t know, bud; he’s been out ten days! The guy probably can’t spell anymore.

  • Theghostronin79

Hey Listen… I only saw one guy that remotely resembled flying….and believe it or not, it was DMAC in his sole carry against the Vikings….and at the end of the day, Rivera looked a little swift too

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

I can’t make head nor tails of Taiwan’s tweets.

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

    If ever he could!

  • JerryMcDonalds#1Fan

JFord ran a sloppy route, slipped and Palmer’s pass got picked..not surprisingly many fans on this blog came to the defense of not only Palmer, but Ford! what a bunch of loons..yeah the defense stunk, but the offense let us down when it mattered most (Palmer specialty)

  • DutchRaid

Totally…I thought it was our moment.

  • Papertiger

I definitely saw a helmet go flying during that illegal hit against TE Simonson, which was a NO CALL of course, even after review!

    Fūck you, ref!
