Raiders QB Matt Schaub said he `absolutely, 100 percent” expects to be ready to start against Jets Week 1

Matt Schaub is still on track to the starting quarterback when the regular season opens Sept. 7 against the New York Jets, Raiders coach Dennis Allen said Monday.

Schaub missed his second straight day of practice with soreness in his throwing elbow, but Allen said he didn’t see it as a serious injury.

Neither does Schaub.

“It’s just something that’s kind of come up,’’ Schaub said. “It’s lingered a little bit. But it’s come up and we’re dealing with it. It’s something we want to take care of and get out of the way now before we start the regular season.

Asked if he expected to be ready to play in Week 1, Schaub said, “Absolutely. One-hundred percent. Absolutely.’’

As for Schaub missing two days of practice when the passing game needs a lot of work in all areas, Allen said, “You’d like to have everybody out there but you have to have some foresight in getting ready for opening day.’’

Asked about the similarities between Schaub’s situation and that of Matt Flynn, who lost his job to Terrelle Pryor after poor play and a sore elbow after the third preseason game, Allen said, “I don’t see those two situations as the same.’’

Said Schaub: “I don’t know what happened here last year. I don’t know what happened with anybody who was here last year. I just know myself and and what we’re going through right now to be ready for Week 1.’’

Matt Schaub is still on track to be the starting quarterback…..Raiders are still on track to be the worst team in the league!

CARDINALS TAKING A LOOK AT TOMMY KELLY, MAYBE HE SHOWS

  • Elliot

    Love that from pft

  • LittleKing

I’m just 100% grossed out at this point. Does ANYONE think these 2 azzclowns are going to lead us to the playoffs? Disgusting. Not Schaub’s fault for being mediocre and hurt…but DA has no business as a head coach in the NFL. And Reggie has no business being a GM. Here we go again…

  • http://cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

Yeah Cleveland offense looked a lot crisper than ours.

  • Elliot

Elbow problems are like getting a hang nail no biggie

  • http://cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

Yeah me too this is the straw that broke the camels back for me. I am not buying any more tickets until Reggie is gone

  • inonewordraider

schaub>mcgloin…. it isn’t saying much, but that’s we got

  • Elliot

If we can move past the elbow weak arm stuff, it is his slow reactions that I find so alarming

  • http://cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

    lol

  • scooboy

You know for a Raider fan you sure do whine a lot

  • inonewordraider

mcgloin is way too careless with the ball, schaub is better mcgloin the better backup. that’s all we have to go with until carrs ready, don’t stunt the kids growth

  • marks hair

    Yup.. pathetic

  • http://cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

Wow all the BS taking place in this forum and you chose to start with me?

You want a Scooby Snack or do you have something of substance to add to the conversation?

  • marks hair

You’re not good enough Reggie.. go home

  • Elliot

Come on man have you been watching the games…not defending anyone here but watch the tape..sad..if this is just a ploy fine..but I think not

  • http://cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

So you are happy at 4-12…..That’s cool not most of us.

  • BigBenRexor

I’m absolutely 100 percent sure that Matt IV sucks, absolutely.

  • http://cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

The only recourse I have as a fan is to say I am done buying tickets there is no other way for us to show our distaste for management. More TARPS!!!

  • scooboy

Of course im not happy with 4-12. But its not like Dennis Allen, Reggie, and the rest of the team reads this forum. So complaining won’t help.

  • Elliot

Here is my take…they are all stating that Shaub is fine for week one…gamesmanship. ..I think they have to be smart enough to get Carr ready or mcgloin and let this be a game time decision. ..if they do that then I agree with this facade they are portraying

  • http://cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

If I was them I wouldn’t read this forum I might commit suicide.

We are here to vent its a sports blog….sports blogs are full of opinions.

Come on, man. This is real talk. NFL teams should be run like a business, not like a Peewee team. This is terrible, terrible business to suck so hard and alienate a really loyal and rabid fan base. One f up after the next.

  • Elliot

You know that won’t happen until season end…

  • Dakota

Here is my take: 5-11 if we are lucky.

  • Elliot

Can you tell me the sure wins?

  • scooboy

Well yes and i don’t criticize people’s opinions. Yours was more of a complaint than an opinion

  • http://cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

    Optimism abounding right there!

  • Elliot

I hope you are auffray wrong

  • BigBenRexor

Dennis Allen’s resignation at the end of the season

  • Elliot

Ok I can live with that

  • http://cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

I have been buying tickets to Raiders games since 1995.

The only way for me to protest is to stop it.

  • LittleKing

You are out of your mind.

  • 1960AutumnWind

First unit did not even score a TD in intrateam scrimmage okiedokie

  • Elliot

My gf comes back from Europe tonight I hope she understands how frustrated I am by this team

  • rifflicks

Looks like when the Raiders leave Oakland all of you wonderful, loyal fans will have a legitimate excuse to jump ship, and decimate another NFL team’s fan base.

  • Dakota

    -zzzzzzzzzz

  • lefty12

So who played in the ’78 super bowl because the Raiders won it in Jan 1977 for the 1976 season.

  • http://cosmicdanceband.com/ SilverandBlack666

If we were not so passionate about our team we would not get so upset at the stupidity. The fact that you are not affected by the lies and bad decisions that are constantly made by the front office shows your lack of interest in the team.

  • Dakota

    Steelers?

  • Elliot

Yes that is exactly what loyal fans do Einstein

  • rifflicks

    or maybe…just maybe….I’m smart enough to realize getting upset about something I can’t change is pretty damned S T U P I D.

  • rifflicks

was wishful thinking that a bunch of you pukes would leave and poison another teams fan base

  • 1960AutumnWind

Considering the protection and how lost Schaub looks out there it times you need to think about system and situational fit. QB for Raiders needs to be decisive and have quick release. Throw darts and quickly read progressions. Scramble to buy time and move around to have a viable launch point. Not Schaub’s game.

  • LB32

Statistically speaking, he played better than Schaub last year and has this preseason. The only thing Schaub can say is, it was against third stringers but McG lit them up. Plus McG looks better than last year unlike Schaub. One person on the way up, one going down fast. Why not play the guy moving up?
