Raiders place Hayden on PUP, waive Criner, pare roster to 75

The Raiders pared their roster to 75 players in advance of Tuesday’s deadline by making moves with eight players.
Of note, the Raiders placed cornerback DJ Hayden on the physically unable to perform list, which means their 2013 first-round draft pick will miss at least the first five regular-season games while he recovers from a foot injury.
Hayden missed the Raiders final eight games last season, his rookie year, with a groin injury. He suffered his foot injury during an offseason workout and hasn’t practiced since.
The Raiders also waived wide receiver Juron Criner, a fifth-round draft pick in 2012 who failed to make much of an impact.
In other moves: veteran quarterback Trent Edwards was released; receiver Greg Jenkins, safety Larry Asante and running back Kory Sheets were waived/injured; guard Lucas Nix was waived/failed physical; and tight end Nick Kasa was placed on injured reserve.
The Raiders have until Saturday afternoon to trim their roster to 53. Between now and that time, they host the Seattle Seahawks in their exhibition finale, which gives coach Dennis Allen and his staff one more chance to see their players in a game setting.

This guy we got is from cal… Guess they wanted a local guy.

  • Yeah like Ditka or Parcells LMFAO

  • SnBG

Don’t you naybob spewing negativity vomiting folks take a look back at last season and see that the joke of a team we had with Pryor and MM at the helm actually almost won more games than they did. Wait until this team gets on the field. They will do much, much better than that last years team of nobody’s

  • Raidertalk

I would feel the same way if there were something done in year one to build on, then a little more to build on from year two, and year three is about to be the turning point or at least competitive (8-8 maybe).

There’s just nothing I can point to from year 1 or year 2 that have us rounding the corner just yet. Preseason looks a little shaky so far. I don’t mind the 4-12 first year, but would’ve liked 5-11 or 6-10, just to point to something.

  • kuhlest

okay, I hope so, I just know what I saw….and I know that this has been an issue with us for several years…..offense needs to do enough to keep the defense hyped up and focused on the task…..its a game of great emotion

  • Yep you are exactly correct that is what happened I remember it.

  • Dakota

    5-11.

  • Raider O

    If we get lucky.

  • inonewordraider

the passing offense is as bad as any in the league and the quarterback has missed what is it 3 practices in a row?

  • kuhlest

    best case= 9-7

    most likely= 7-9

    worse case= 3-13

  • inonewordraider

love your optimism man. sadly if we win 7 games i’ll be happy and if we don’t win 7 games DA should be fired

  • JV.

@VicTafur: Tavecchio, 24, played in 46 games at #Cal and finished with 256 points, ranking fifth on the school’s all-time scoring list. #Raiders

    Go bears!

  • Raidertalk

    *From year two*

  • kuhlest

yeah, think about that……doesn’t make sense, does it? I think the writing is on the wall….if Carr looks good thursday he will be our starter week 1

  • SnBG

From the 5th rnd. Really? How many fifth rndrs make it in the league. Seriously, get a grip.

  • I think this years 4-12 team will be way better than last years 4-12 team…..I can see that!

  • JV.

He was also a red-zone threat according to himself.

  • aig-raiders

    generous. way too generous.

  • lefty12

    Namely Cork.

  • Raider O

    Well said.

  • aig-raiders

He was practicing. throwing against no dbs on the sideline. Count for something?

  • SilverNBlackPA

4-12. That’s what Dennis Allen does. If you gave him the ’76 Raiders, he’d go 4-12.

  • Raidertalk

What’s your prediction for the record with the team as currently constituted? I’m hoping for 9-7, but will settle for 8-8 or even 7-9 with some progress.

  • JV.

@SBNation: ESPN reports on who has showered with Michael Sam. http://t.co/7b9IzJzkH6 http://t.co/GSrDDxx5ya

    Wtf…

  • Raidertalk

    LOL.

  • SnBG

With what draft picks and what money. Really?

  • 909RaiderLifer

He’s starting to get a little long in the tooth…Don’t heal up as quick as he did a few years ago..

That, or the medical staff is a bunch of buffoons..

  • inonewordraider

hue woulda got this team to 8 wins no doubt, let’s see what da can do

  • 909RaiderLifer

    Four words….

    Soap on a rope….

  • inonewordraider

chimdi checkwa competing for third cb spot? when’s the last time he practiced?

  • SnBG

Friend, Schauby has thrown some nice balls to a couple of guys that don’t want to or are not used to him. So they drop some balls. Give it time to jell. You naybobs don’t seem to understand that a team that has just gotten together needs to jell.

  • lefty12

If last weeks game was a real game in all probability the score would have been 13-10 at halftime,13-13 after the 1st drive of the 3rd QTR.GB went for it twice on 4th down inside the 10 and scored TDs both times. How often do teams go for it on 4th down instead of taking the points(FGs)?

  • Thec

Cable with Hue would have achieved also.

  • SnBG

    and you believe the press?

  • SnBG

Give it a rest. They are friends. Grow up. Jeese.

  • inonewordraider

the report that was real disturbing was the one about which teammates he spanks off too

  • RediaR

Suuuure ignore the new post. I see how it is.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

The new guy has to tell y’all there’s a new post?

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    I saw it 1st!

  • RediaR

    Best case 19-0
    Worst case 0-16

  • SnBG

My God, don’t you folks know that a player and a coach will not want to talk about injuries. Then again some here just want to find any piece of junk to criticize.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Get the quote right, at least. What else did Spiro say worth remembering?

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Show us a picture of your ‘Lagoon Pontoon’!

Those two were cartoon HC’s.

  • Twinkie defense

By itself it’s not a big deal, but it’s one more draft pick not helping the team. You may not find many stars in the 5th round but you have to find players who can contribute in the mid rounds… and I’m sure if you went back and looked at that draft you could identify contributors at #168.

  • marks hair

    They did

  • Mike_Trail

Agreed. Did the same thing in Rugby. Audible Oooohs when it would happen. Business as usual from my POV

  • Mike_Trail

That would sure be nice. Looks like he took OL Dmacs job pretty easy doesn’t it?

  • Chris in NY

Cable fared no better than DA until Hue came on board and took over the offense, which was ranked 31st the year before Hue got here and finished in the top 10 in Hue’s first season.
