Raiders CB Taiwan Jones is back, but Chimdi Chewka, Nick Roach not practicing

The Raiders are still without starting middle linebacker Nick Roach, who sustained a concussion on Aug. 22 against the Green Bay Packers in the third preseason game.

Chimdi Chekwa, who would probably be the Raiders third cornerback in nickel situations, also is still out with a knee injury. Roach was a spectator during the media practice window Tuesday and Chekwa was not present.

If Roach can’t play against the New York Jets in the regular-season opener, Kaluka Maiava would be the likely starter in the middle. Chewka’s absence would probably be filled by either rookie TJ Carrie or Neiko Thorpe. Carlos Rogers, a starter at cornerback along with Tarell Brown, would move to slot corner on nickel downs with either Thorpe or Carrie playing outside.

Special teams gunner Taiwan Jones, however has returned from a knee strain. Tight end David Ausberry (knee) was on the field for the second consecutive day, this time in a full-padded practice, as was weak side linebacker Sio Moore.

Raiders coach Dennis Allen and quarterback Derek Carr will address the media following practice. Matt Schaub will be available in the locker room, according to a team spokesman.

been playing it a bit lately. the friggin graphics are insane. I get tempted to just simulate games and watch them as entertainment!

We shall see I am an ausberry fan but realistic

As much as he gets injured he’ll get plenty of snaps.

  • the super genius dr robert

DA heard he’s a magical unicorn and as we all know, anyone with little boobies is a sucker for unicorns.

Might explain “the Pryor decision”. Also his fickleness.

Have you ever had the clap?

@VicTafur: This pic does make a little more sense now … http://t.co/9m6DKyHAZj

    LOL

  • RediaR

Well our TEs are like a fantasy story. Naya’s Brother faces off against evil with his trusty unicorn Aus, and his sidekick Brian the Lionheart.

  • JLofty

Cuz our TE’s are not good.
Rivera can catch (usually) but not much a blocker.
    Leonhardt can’t catch…

  • Raider O

Nice. I have to do a few things, but I can’t wait to play tonight. Too bad I don’t smoke trees anymore. I always enjoyed smoking and playing Madden. This will be the 1st time playing without smoking.

  • JV.

Games graphics look great.. 400 dollars to buy the console to be able to play it made me cry inside tho…

  • RediaR

I like him, I just think Rivera should clearly be listed as the number one guy right now.

  • RediaR

And Ausberry doesn’t play football ever.

  • Raider O

I bought it for my old PS3.

  • 909RaiderLifer

    What a total TOOL…

  • http://thebadtenants.com/ eternal pessimist

you’ll probably run your game much more fluidly. haha. when I smoke I get frustrated sometimes and spiral downhill with my play call.

  • JLofty

    there’s that too…

  • Lowdown_in_Beijing

If you felt Mack and Carr seemed unreal after day two of the draft, how you feeling now?

  • SnBG

He has a lot of talent, he’s a big TE and they don’t want to give up on him yet.

  • JV.

I lose track of these games these days.. All i know is whenever a new one comes out it burns a hole in my wallet.

  • RediaR

Me too. Just got it the other day. I gave up on the game in frustration years ago.

  • Raider O

    Excited!
Can’t wait to get a good coaching staff to help them develop.

  • RediaR

I get that. But listing him as a starter?

  • trogPOUNDA

    dingus alert lol

  • Raider O

Same here. ,y last one was madden 12.

  • Lowdown_in_Beijing

Wes Welker suspended for violating the league’s dwarf policy.

  • Raider O

I don’t play like I used to, so I can’t justify spending $400-600 on something I use a few times per month.

  • 909RaiderLifer

I hope ALL the rookies shine for us this season….

  • Dan78

    D* Bag…. LOL…..

  • TrevJo

Ironically, Carr’s former teammate Isaiah Burse is listed as the second-string slot receiver on the Broncos website. (Although more likely Sanders or Caldwell will play slot in Welker’s absence.)

  • RediaR

I played ’07 on my OG XBOX until the machine crapped out a couple years ago. Tried last years and hated it.

  • trogPOUNDA

no sanders plays deckers old spot and caldwell or latimer will play in the slot. think latimer gets the majority of the red zone looks

  • RediaR

    Suave

  • JV.

Same.. Its why those things are meant for the kids.

Cant find the time to play those things anymore lol

  • http://batman-news.com 559 Raider 87

Man Tuck is legit in the game. I have him leading the NFL in sacks with Mack holding the 5th spot, guess I blitz alot

  • RediaR

I hope ALL the Raiders shine for us this season….

  • RediaR

    Definitely.

  • Lowdown_in_Beijing

This very well may be looked back on as The Draft that changed it all.

  • TrevJo

I don’t think Latimer will play in the slot. Caldwell wouldn’t surprise me, he filled in there last year. Sanders has played slot much of his career though, I think last year was the only year he played outside.

  • http://thebadtenants.com/ eternal pessimist

but according to most, we still need to fire the guy who made those picks…

  • http://thebadtenants.com/ eternal pessimist

    New Post kiddos…

  • iowaraider

If this was the 70s, this would be his audition for the Raiders

  • r8ter4evr

Forget the dream of Chuckie coming back. Ask yourself would you rather coach sweaty young men or do commercials with Hooter girls doing football drills in shorts and tight tops
    No Brainer
    Grudes is the MAN

  • SnBG

Well, you’re an idiot as usual.

  • Guest

If Butler can hold on to the ball all year.. He will be come a star. He has to hold on to the ball though, PERIOD.

  • SnBG

    True that.

  • SnBG

Gruden has become a fat little Chucky that doesn’t really know QB’s
