Raiders lose assistant coach to college ranks

Share

Raiders defensive line coach Terrell Williams has left the Raiders and joined the University of Florida as its defensive line coach, according to a report Saturday.
Williams spent the past three seasons with the Raiders. He is the first assistant coach from fired coach Dennis Allen’s staff to leave for another job. FootballScoop.com was the first to report Williams’ departure.
More assistant coaches likely are on their way out in the coming days and weeks, especially if the Raiders don’t make Tony Sparano the full-time head coach. Sparano replaced Allen four games into last season, and he is among numerous candidates interested in the Raiders job.
Sparano is the only Raiders coach with a contract for 2015. If he gets bypassed for the full-time head coaching job, it’s likely that more, if not all, of the Raiders assistant coaches, whose contracts are set to expire later this month, don’t return next season.
Already, Raiders defensive coordinator Jason Tarver has been linked with job openings at Texas A&M – that defensive coordinator opening since has been filled – and the 49ers.

    You have it backward…

    In trust we Reggie

  • 3 years is what we were told adn we were told to judge him on his 3rd year…..he delivered a 0-10 start to a 3-13 season.

That is how we are judging him “just like we were asked to”

    Its not judge science…..sheeesh

ur comment is well taken.i get it…last 6 weeks of the year we became competitive…it was a start….too little too late yeah..but the good thing is the 65 million cap we had , turns into at least 50 this year..so as some free agency moves were made by RM were failures….he can let them go..wash his hands and start over…..u have to take chances in this league….least the chances he took didnt cost us in cap room for the next 5 years…something Al (Grhs) was known for.

  • The plan was simple and made sense.
Slash and dash in 2012. I would have been OK with 1-15.
    Start to build in 2013.
    Start to compete in 2014.
Playoffs were never expected (at least by me), but getting shellacked often in a 3-13 season was not expected either.

  • But most of the time, its just to start trouble to be honest. Its not doctrine

Don’t worry they have strong lines…

  • It’s what we have to do for things we need. Randall Cobb is an average WR, maybe a smidge above average. Jason Worldis is an average to above average pass rusher
We will have to pay them top 10, maybe top 7 or so money to land them this year.
We need the skill, so we should do it. We need pass rushers and pass catchers.

    LOL
RM still has his job because WE ARE THE BIGGEST REBUILD IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL IN THE CAP ERA.
Further everyone in the NFL knows this.
OK. Now let’s hear the CONSPIRACY theories about Mark trying to diminish the value of the team by not wanting to spend the money on a real GM or HC. LOL LOL LOL.
Please. LOL. Accept the fact that we were a total disaster in 2011 and RM is building us for the LONG TERM.
Facts are facts. No quick fix just hard work.

  • 1960AutumnWind

I thought it was a bad trade as there were a lot of good WRs in draft. Marrone was right.

    Blah
    blah

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

Dan Quinn is interviewing for every HC vacancy EXCEPT for the Raiders.

    Why is that Reggie?

  • Zymurge

Yeah, but to be fair, how many teams hit the playoffs on their 3rd string QB and 3rd sting RB? How much offense would Carolina have generated with Joe Webb under center handing off to Fozzy as his primary back?

  • Zymurge

What about Sparano? He’s still under contract next season. Think he falls all the way back OL coach or does he go OC?

  • Oak R8rs

And they might. I’ll bet not. But still below average production for 6th highest paid 3-4 De.

  • Blackholepriest

    LOL

  • PlunkforHOF

Did you guys read about the guy who chopped off his mom’s head for “nagging”? That had to be some serious nagging.

Yeah sure he just wanted to go back to college. I guess that’s why it took so much money from Michigan to go back…Also he turned them down a few years back. That being the case do you think he would’ve turned down 8-10mm
