Share

Eric Mangini, the former 49ers assistant coach who interviewed for the Raiders head coaching job, will now interview with Oakland for their opening at defensive coordinator, the NFL Network reported Monday.

Mangini, who has been a head coach twice and most recently was tight ends coach for the 49ers, was last a defensive coordinator in 2005 with the New England Patriots.

Initial reports had Raiders coach Jack Del Rio targeting Mike Smith as his defensive coordinator. Smith as Del Rio’s defensive coordinator with the Jacksonville Jaguars and was fired as the Atlanta Falcons head coach.

It is not known whether Smith, who will still be paid this year by the Falcons, wants to coach this season.

I really don’t think it’s going to happen.

It’s 1) Carroll’s way to motivate some of them and 2) It’s Baldwin copying Sherman–after all, Sherman got a lot of commericals out of his rant

  • Dakota

    So did Rob Ryan……BFDeal.

  • yeah. had the same impression. I was like “is he straight dik riding that rant with this? WTF?!
I know it’s how carroll motivates, but damn, find a new angle and teach your team to win graciously.

Me either or the games in London. While we’re at it, I hate the ” throw back jersey ” games. Just wanted to throw that in, sorry.

  • seriously.

  • DKnight007

They need have Thursday night games every other week instead of every week. Or give the teams who play on Thursday their bye the week before?

  • DKnight007

    Yup!

  • Dakota

    It is very disturbing.

That’s what happens when your Oakland Raiders are on a downward spiral. THE TEAM that everybody loves to hate doesn’t get shown as much on MNF, and has never been on SNF (furk Michaels, Collins is he really worth it, Costas and the NBC PC gang). Once our RAIDERS get back to prominence then these football know it alls will be clambering to get us back on prime time. Until then, we’ll just get there dominating one game at a time.

  • Morilla_00

It totally feels like the WWF

  • LondonAl

    Holmgren has aged. Ouch.

  • Chino

    New post

  • seriously. the irony in his rant last night was that most of the doubters were honestly their own fans. when this team was 3-3 this year, this whole city was like “welp, at least we won last year. guess this year is a wash.”

  • veni,vidi,vici

Act like you’ve been there before, and it’s no big deal because you just keep winning. That’ll be more concerning to your opponent than the extra hyped BS.

  • DJ Johnny

Why don’t they fire Gruden then? I’d love if he got canned and no one was interested for him as coach.

  • seriously. especially because it leaves everyone being like… “no one doubted you bro. you sound like a moron.”

  • JLofty

    4.5 years bro…

  • Raiderfusion

Totally agree. The Thursday night games are a joke, and you’re just asking for injuries. As far as injuries go these players lack of time in pads, and the extra tacking that’s needed to toughen these guys up is a huge reason for the extra injuries they get. A huge reason Bo’s career was so short.

  • JLofty

had more class at our high school…

  • PlunkforHOF

Agree with all of the above.

  • RAY NJ

Talk about overexposed! Liked him as Raider coach, but I’m getting a little sick of his act.

  • Raiderfusion

JFB: You have hit this one on the nose. I’m not a Cub’s fan, Theo Epstein will make the Cubs World Series champs within 4 years. He turned the Red Sox into champs, and he’ll do the same with the Cubs, if the owners will give him the funds and get the hell out of the way. As far as Cub Fans, they’re a bunch Lemmings. Let me explain this: every year the fans flock to the ball field and fill that place and the Cub’s owners spend very little money and put out garbage teams every year. The fans never expect anything from the Wrigley family, and that’s what they get, nothing. But they’ve hired Theo Epstain from the Billy Bean GM Tree, and he’s made some outstanding trades and moves last year, and this year already.

  • RaYdAFoELyPh

Ok ok sounded good though and still better than us in 3 years

  • DJ Johnny

Yep. If he’ such a “competitor” why doesn’t he compete on the field as a coach instead of against Verne Lundquist and Don Criqui?

  • BLACKBONES

The Packers sgould have won, they were non agressive, even on the last interception the GB defender sat down on the 50 instead of running another 20 yards, then GB has it’s running backs lay down just so Seattle would use their timeouts instead of making 1st downs, then having that big tight end not clear the way for Jordy Nelson was just plain bad, getting the ball on his face, but letting Seatlle catch it. GB was really the better team, just played like they has it in the bag.

  • MuthaFknZeus

I was telling my friends the exact same thing during the game. I was expecting someone to say hulkamania.

  • tuckrulefool

    Like Musgrave?
