Reports: NFL LA Committee to recommend Carson

Share

The Los Angeles Daily News and Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole are reporting that the NFL’s powerful Committee on Los Angeles Opportunities will recommend the Raiders’ and Chargers’ Carson project over a stadium plan proposed by the Rams in Inglewood.

If that’s the case, it doesn’t necessarily mean Carson will win out or that the Raiders will be approved to play there. It will just frame the politicking as all three teams fight to get the best deal they can out of this situation.

There’s an interesting clause in the agreement that each team had to sign in order to submit the relocation papers. There is as part of the agreement a clause that says that there will be a fairly significant tax/fee if an owner, once they get to LA, sells all or part of the team. I thought that was interesting, considering Iger’s reported options if Carson is approved.

We’ll see what happens, but I’ve always thought thhe NFL boys club would look unfavorably on some new to the club rich guy thinking he could come in and TELL the League what he was going to do. There’s a process, there are personal ties – and there is some antipathy to the idea that someone can do whatever they want in the NFL just because he’s loaded with money – that’s not how the League works.

It’s not like Kroenke gets to spell out the terms of a Rams relocation – don’t you think he might rather share a stadium in Carson than get stuck in St. Louis?

Not that I expect that to happen – I expect it will probably be Raiders and Chargers in Carson or Rams and Chargers in Inglewood.

I also think the committee would like to say FU to Kroenke, but ultimately it will be the ownership as a whole who decide. IDK if anyone knows where they will come down, but if they have trouble deciding I bet they put it off – the League wants to be able to make a definitive decision one way or the other.

Mark Davis will NEVER relocate to Santa Clara.

I also don’t buy that there is some vendetta against the Raiders – owners like Davis more than they like Kroenke, who is the kind if guy who thinks he can waltz in and do whatever he wants because he’s a billionaire – old school owners hate that.
