San Antonio as the new LA

Share

Alamo

When the this is all over, Los Angeles will likely gain two football teams, and the NFL will lose its biggest hammer to get cities to pay up for new stadiums.

So where will teams turn to extract taxpayer concessions. Maybe San Diego, maybe London. But if the Raiders are left out of Los Angeles, one report has them turning to San Antonio – or at least threatening Oakland that they may do so.

One report even states an unnamed source that the Raiders have a land deal in place for a site between San Antonio and Austin. I’ll try to ask him about that today.

One thing San Antonio — and Texas as a state — has in its favor is a fund that helps build sports facilities. But it lacks Raiders fans and it’s hard to think that Mark Davis wants to put his team in Cowboy Country, even if Jerry Jones doesn’t stand in his way.

And Davis just last month told a reporter that he’s only considering Oakland or Los Angeles. We’ll see if he changes his tune if LA is off the table.

  • Well crap, I was hoping these people would have figured this out already, before I got to drive to El Paso.
I guess I will hear the breaking news if anything happens.

  • nolarick

It’s not about the money (sarcasm font).

  • the erudite dr robert

pretty much. it will be lots of face painting and costumes. oh wait. it already is.

    Or a Waffle-Bot at least.

  • ToozFan (VanHeathen30)

WWNFL… surely starting to look that way after some of the officiating in the WC Round.
Just need to get the Mouth of the South outta retirement to fire up the rivalries…

Just to be clear, I’ve been told the 5-1 vote by the LA committee in favor of Carson is also in favor of Chargers-Raiders, not just the site

  • ToozFan (VanHeathen30)

See O.Co on a game day…NFL Disneyland for adults.

  • nolarick

I’d rather rip my junk off and throw it in the river.

  • Kylo-Kenchun24

They have to get it “all in” before the next gen of non-football playing young-ins take stage via other sports. Hence the rush for L.A.

  • SaintKaufman

    put your jfb

  • idahoraiderfan33

The RAIDERS are a dream come true, to the Disney marketing teams..

  • nolarick

“for adults,” is the operative term. If Dis gets involved, this is going to rapidly become a place for 6yo girls.

  • Dakota

    that is big news.

  • Dan78

    New post

  • the erudite dr robert

    that’s a touch extreme.

  • nolarick

New post: Florida man lobbies legislature for the right to arm bears.

  • DJ Johnny

So when the committee (it was thought) recommended Inglewood supposedly that was a sign it was a slam dunk, done deal rams/chargers in LA. Now that it’s Carson they are recommending it’s all spin and leverage? Is that correct?

  • Dan78

    Pirates of the Carribean…

  • Not Ted Nugent

Like I posted Mark Davis holds all the cards. How much loyalty does he have to Spanos?

  • Dakota

That is what some would claim I am sure.

  • Dan78

    Revenant

  • nolarick

You’re not going to get 6 year old girls involved in the League with Pirates.

  • Kylo-Kenchun24

    lol

  • R8erEduc8er

My intuition says to leave it alone. My intuition is always right. But man I’m tempted lol

  • R8erEduc8er

His mustache to me says I enjoy sniffing buttholes.
