The Raiders selected Shilique Calhoun with the No. 75 overall pick of Friday’s NFL Draft. Here’s what you need to know about him.

College: Michigan State

Position: Linebacker/defensive end

Ht/Wt: 6-foot-5/250 pounds

College highlights: Three-time second-team All-American, 2015 Hendricks Award finalist (defensive end of the year), two-time team captain and 2013 Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year.

Pros: Polished pass rusher who racked up 27 career sacks and 44 tackles for loss. Has good burst as a pass rusher and solid play recognition against the run to be a versatile and reliable edge player.

Cons: Was flagged for nine encroachment penalties, and yet a knock on him was that he wasn’t aggressive or nasty enough at the point of attack.

Odds and ends: Earned a criminal justice degree from Michigan State and could consider a career in law enforcement after his playing career.

Quotable: “I feel like I’m a very versatile player. I can play multiple positions. I definitely feel like SAM works for me. If you want to put my hand in the dirt, that also works. I think I can play multiple roles and I can contribute to the team in many different ways. If he wants to put me at tailback, I can play a little tailback as well.”

    Masculina to you.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Just the right cowbow at just the right time to make the USSR CRUMBLE.

  • MR

Yeah, tough guy, a second ago you said you “love” me (kinda weird), now you’re going all Robert and overcompensating. It’s okay. It’s not like anyone ever screen grabs these comments.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

this thing goes all cap on a whim.
    Sorry.

  • R8derdiehard

    KO is Penns backup

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    We do love you, MR.

  • MR

Which only led to Putin, Russia’s alliance with Iran and probably the makings of WW3. Kind of makes you miss the Cold War, which was really good for the U.S. economically.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    There’s no thread there whatsoever.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Man, that bed is looking good.

  • MR

The jury is still out as to whether the downfall of the Soviet Union was a good thing. It’s just served as GOP chest thumping. I’d take Gorbachev over Putin any day.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

And I get to try and saddleup 4 3 year olds for the 1st time tomorrow.
    that’ll be fun

  • MR

Oh, now he’s doing the association thing. “We” instead of “I”. Yeah, everyone here said they love me tonight, you were just their spokesperson.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    With an audience.
    No guts, no glory.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    They didn’t.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    I love you you, MR.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    Now, go away.

  • Stabler

43 years old, and you’ve never put a saddle on her? Get on it man.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    Ima kill you.

  • kelley

Al was the man for many years, mid 60’s to mid 80’s, we all know that.

    He sucked after that.

If you are going to argue Al’s early years, at least study a little. Stabler was many years into Al’s tenure, at least bring up Lamonica. Hendricks was late 70’s. It’s like you just chose three Raider greats at random.

  • kelley

I collect old football cards, its cool to see how many old Raiders started with different teams. Old man Wille, Lamonica, Blanda, Hendricks, Alzado, Plunkett, Haynes etc.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

At random? I don’t think so.

  • kelley

But plenty were drafted by the Raiders as well

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    It has now enticed me.

  • kelley

He was arguing about Al’s first years in comparison to Reggie, Freddie 64, Al’s 2nd year, Stabler was drafted in 68, Al’s 5th year and didn’t really play until 73/74. Hendricks didn’t become a Raiders until 75, Al’s 12th year. So, the 3 he picked only Freddie fits the point he was trying to make.

  • Reuel Smith

    grrrrrrr

  • Reuel Smith

“getting to know you…getting to know all about you…”

  • Rik-Da-Specialist-

Okay thanks… So much for that…

  • Rik-Da-Specialist-

    I thought I did ….

  • 2romes

This is year 5 and the results are needed now. And sorry you don’t feel Reggie does not need to put a rush job on it.
