Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was honored by the compliment paid to him recently by Michael Crabtree, who said last week that his quarterback reminded him a lot of Hall of Famer Brett Favre.
“Brett is somebody that I looked up to as a kid, the way he played the game,” Carr said. “So I wore No. 4 ever since I could remember, I always wanted to wear 4 somehow, some way. For him to say that, it was so cool because I don’t think I’ve told him that.
“But it made me think, ‘Do I take too many chances sometimes?’ But I think the wide receivers like that. They know that no matter what, I’m going to give them a chance. It doesn’t matter if you drop a ball, it doesn’t matter if I just sailed one eight rows deep, I’m going to throw the next one just as confident and give you just as much of a chance. If that’s what he sees, I’m very thankful and honored. But I have a lot way to go before I’m compared to Brett.”
Carr’s assumption is correct in that his receivers — Crabtree in particular — love that Carr is willing to take risks.
“He is always going to be a gunslinger and I love that,” Crabtree said.
