The Raiders announced Tuesday that they’ve released running back Roy Helu Jr., who last week had been placed on injured reserve.

Helu, a product of Danville’s San Ramon Valley High, struggled during his only season in Oakland. He played in just nine games and had only 39 yards on 17 carries, plus another 75 yards on nine receptions.

Helu, who missed most of last year’s training camp with injuries, add offseason surgery on both of his hips that was designed to increase his flexibility.

Del Rio, when speaking about Helu following his placement on IR last week, made it clear the Helu’s decision to go under the knife was his own and that he was disappointed with the 2015 production of the player who had once been a valuable third-down back in Washington.

“We hoped to get a little more last year out of him,” Del Rio said Friday of Helu. “He elected to have some things done this year in the offseason and at this point we’re going to move forward with the team.”

At the of his IR placement, it was largely expected the team would come to an injury settlement with Helu and release him. The two-year deal Helu signed before last season came with no guarantees and thus his release will not have any salary cap ramifications.

Nice! When you smoke it, do you have a certain wet/dry rub or marinade? Or just natural flavors with salt and pepper?

Some say that Florida is the wastebasket of the South.

PlunkHOF: what’s your availability for the live draft?

    Stadium question, buying tickets…

How much farther would the 10th row home side be than the 10th row visiting side? I see lots more out of bounds room on the Oakland bench side with more camera stuff, etc…while the visiting side is like right on the dang field.

  • PlunkforHOF

I’m acting in a play Aug 25, 26 & 27. So those nights are out. I’m available any other time.

  • rifflicks

just the snobby California cork soakers who’ve never been to Mississippi

bummer. for purely selfish reasons. figured I’d put in a room for board app with you when my wife tosses me out…

  • Alex7!

is that per seat? Most places with the photos are just per section

  • R8der4evr

Dude is a idiot, why do you think they ventilate those manholes with air?
    But it was pretty funny.

  • Die Haters

Had a Latino friend where I used to work and Obama looking the other way for the illegals made him VERY mad….him and his wife both did it the right way and it took years and a lot of work to do it along with a large sum of money for lawyers etc. He said it was a slap in the face for law abiding citizens like him and his wife. Surprised me, he WAS a huge Obama supporter up to that point, not any more

  • Alex7!

oooh, narrows it down to per 10 rows, nice

  • BroJackson34

That made me happy! I’ve been on this blog preaching the importance of building this team, inside and out like Parcells use to. Interior line is beastly and will open up the running game.

  • RaidingTexas

Keep at it on this post, beeches! Or head to the newer one. The choice is yours.

  • timetojam

hmm…the stairs are steeper on the Oakland side, so you go back less quickly than on the visitors side. Had seats in row 15 on the visitors for several years – the view was great, but you have to put up with a lot of opposing teams’ fans

  • RaidingTexas

    Because they don’t speak Engrish.

  • timetojam

sun is also a big factor. lots of sun on the visitors side; oak side more shady

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

    Is your dad’s name Charlie?

  • RaidingTexas

Yeah. I’ve been down on him as much as anyone. If I have to eat crow, I’d be fine with that. Never had anything against the kid. Great story. He just has not lived up to his #12 overall pick yet. Maybe he finally figures it out this season.

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

Sun can be a factor, I think on the visiting side, but I have little experience.

  • Alex7!

thanks Purv. Mostly wondering if the extra distance on the home side takes away a bit of the feel of being that closer to begin with

  • BroJackson34

No, it’s Donald like the duck.

  • RaidingTexas

I went for the visitor side myself – 3rd row in sec 138. Bringing some binocs so I can see the Raiders sideline better.

Just remember what I was warned about – don’t bring the binocs case.

  • RaidingTexas

You enjoyed this, right? See, I was right. You don’t like the Chinese.

  • Alex7!

thanks friend. have been on the visiting side once before, like row 10 or so, very good view. Would just miss being on the home side for atmosphere, the players being pumped up and all that, but think it’s offset by most of the camera crews being on that side too

  • RaidingTexas

Which game are you going to?

  • Alex7!

looks like the Chargers one. Columbus day on that Monday helps out.

  • RaidingTexas

    He must’ve hated Reagan, too.

  • rifflicks

Coarse Sea Salt… Red & Black Pepper, Paprika, Brown Sugar, and 3 different chili powders …..after slathering it with a half and half mix of pickle juice and dijon mustard

  • Purvisman/Eternal Optimist

“I honestly can’t remember the last time the Raiders could say one
particular position group were as potentially dominating as their
interior offensive line is right now.”
And there’s a few others that may not be far behind!
