Karl Joseph suited up against Cardinals, but Jalen Richard is out

The Raiders announced three players who will not suit up for Friday’s exhibition opener against the Arizona Cardinals and safety Karl Joseph isn’t among the them.

Running back Jalen Richard, safety Jimmy Hall and cornerback Antonio Hamilton are the three who won’t suit up at University of Phoenix Stadium. Richard missed Wednesday’s practice for undisclosed reasons and Hall has missed the past four practices.

But it’s a fairly big surprise to not see Joseph on that list of players who aren’t expected to play. The team’s first-round pick, at No. 14 overall, Joseph said Tuesday that he “wouldn’t be surprised if I didn’t play in the first preseason game or two,” citing the need to get his surgically-repaired right knee in full order for the regular season opener.

But the Raiders are indicating he’ll at least suit up and it now seems possible he could make his NFL preseason debut. UPDATE: Joseph is suited up and on the field for pre-game warmups.

Richard’s absence is disappointing because a strong training camp had turned him into one of the players to watch during the exhibition schedule. With him out, expect DeAndre Washington to see a solid load and George Atkinson III could get some additional run with the offense.

Hamilton’s biggest contribution to the team is likely as a returner and this is one less opportunity for him to show he has some value to the team in that regard.

Hall, at this point and with his now week-long absence, is facing a long road to make the final 53-man roster.

If you’re talking about the linebacker it’s the mistakes he makes.

On running down Ds just expect a run. Especially in preseason

I can’t think of to many. He is way more of and asset than a burden.

No way. Go look at his PFF numbers he makes mistakes all the time.
Even today the big pass over the middle. It happened because both linebackers weren’t in the correct position.

As the team plays better so well he just like he did in Seattle. And I am certainly not a pure PFF guy. I never have been and never will. PFF only tells half the story.
