Radio: 98.5/102.1 (Greg Papa, Tom Flores, Lincoln Kennedy)

Raiders by 3 1/2

Raiders defense vs. Titans running game. Tennessee was second in the NFL running the ball through the first two preseason games. DeMarco Murray comes in with 11 carries for 113 yards and a touchdown and reigning Heisman Trophy winner has carried 15 times for 105 yards and a score. The Raiders were gashed on the ground last week by a physical back in the Packers’ Eddie Lacy and will be tested by this duo. Murray is 6-foot, 217 pounds and Henry is a massive 6-3, 247. That will be a test for the 6-foot, 230-pound Ben Heeney and the rest of the Raiders defense.

Derek Carr has gone his past five preseason games without a touchdown pass, going 40 of 71 for 416 yards and three interceptions since his three-touchdown game against Seattle to close the exhibition schedule in his rookie season on 2014. … Raiders running backs are averaging 5.3 yards per carry this preseason, although that drops to just 3.3 per attempt when you take away George Atkinson III’s long touchdown runs of 53 and 35 yards. … Oakland has yet to allow a sack in the first two preseason games, while notching four of its own (Khalil Mack, Neiron Ball, Shilique Calhoun, Drew Iddings).

Raiders defensive backs coach Marcus Robertson was a fourth round pick in 1991 of the Houston Oilers, who later became the Titans. He played 10 seasons for the organization, then spent 2003-11 in various staff roles. … Raiders offensive coordinator Bill Musgraves was the quarterbacks coach in Atlanta for Mike Mularkey, now the Titans’ head coach. … Titans’ first-round pick Jake Conklin (No. 8 overall) was college teammates with the Raiders’ third- and fourth-round picks, Shilique Calhoun and Connor Cook at Michigan State.

The Raiders went to Nashville in Week 12 last season and notched a 24-21 win to snap a three-game losing streak. Derek Carr found Seth Roberts for a 12-yard touchdown pass with 1:21 remaining for the game-winning and Nate Allen sealed the win with an interception. Roberts had a career day, going for 113 yards on six catches and grabbing two touchdowns. The Raiders were the benefits of some fortune in the game, with a questionable defensive holding call on Tennessee keeping that final drive alive on fourth down to allow Carr and Roberts to hook up for the game-winner. It was one of Carr’s four game-winning drives he led last season.

The Raiders remain without defensive end Mario Edwards Jr. and tight end Gabe Holmes, who has yet to be placed on IR but is expected to end up there (probably as soon as Tuesday when the roster must be reduced to 75). Safety Reggie Nelson is expected to miss this one for the Raiders, but they will welcome the debut of rookie running back Jalen Richard after he missed two weeks with a knee injury.

The forecast calls for mostly sunny and 68 degrees at the opening kickoff, cooling to 62 degrees by the end of the game.

“I know I’m going to get some of the raspberries from the infield, bring me back to the baseball days. I’m excited.” — LINEBACKER BEN HEENEY, on playing at the Coliseum and it’s baseball dirt infield

It’s behind the scenes progress they won’t make the mistake of going public again until they have something concrete to report and with the A’s probably on the move 2 downtown it will open up more room for progression

  • Tougher then I thought but not as good as I thought

  • Rifflicks

    Raiders getting shut out?

  • R8RCatDave

    My imaginary ones

  • Fugazi

If Reggie can find a suitable replacement on the waiver wire I think Neiron Ball is done with the Raiders

  • 24

    Thank you sir!

  • Rifflicks

and Santa is going to pay for it all

  • eastoaklandraider

Do you live in a city that has an NFL team?

  • eastoaklandraider

    Or from

  • 24

    Sometimes that’s all you need.

  • A’s didn’t seem too excited about their Howard Terminal visit.

Their official statement on the visit said they will keep it in mind but keep looking at other sites.

  • You live in Arkansas

  • R8RCatDave

Real thing didn’t work so well

  • eastoaklandraider

No I don’t and it was Alabama I’ve long since left there two years ago

Ronnie is just the front man.

    The door man

It appears the A’s know their small market exemption, as it were, is about to expire.

HT needs a lot of infrastructure. State would have to have their hands in that money pool.

I’m wondering why Libby and the city PTB proposed the site at all unless there’s a Jerry Brown link to infrastructure funds.

  • PlunkforHOF

I live in Reno, but WTF difference does that make? Makes zero sense.

  • RaidingTexas

Does Alabama have an NFL team?

Peavy said last night he couldn’t wait for this start. Bochy said today Peavy’s back flared up in LA. Hmmm.

  • RaidingTexas

    New post, sir.

  • 24

    Thanks…did this by accident lol

  • Its not though. Commissioner MANFRED said they will grandfather in the A’s and Rays for awhile as long as they are in their crappy stadium.

  • disqus_yeZNegncsV

Ohhhhh, makes more sense now. Did you know Kap converted to Islam this summer?

Watching the Dodgers/Cubs game. Lots of empty seats.
Dodger fans show up big time for Giant games.

Much as I appreciate Peavy, that might be a good thing in terms of a win.
