Raiders preview: Khalil Mack, Derek Carr, Bruce Irvin and more

Share

khalilmackThe Bay Area News Group’s NFL preview magazine hit doorsteps and newsstands on Sunday and the content has now rolled out to our web sites as well.

Here’s all the content you’ll want to read about your 2016 Raiders.

It starts with Jerry McDonald’s cover story on Khalil Mack, your kind and gentle (off the field) NFL superstar.

I wrote the secondary Raiders feature on quarterback Derek Carr and the take from around the NFL on what’s in store for his third season

One of my favorite pieces is this Q&A I did with outside linebacker Bruce Irvin. Among the topics we hit was what would happen in a tussle between Seattle’s 12th Man and Oakland’s Black Hole. His answer is pretty priceless.

Here’s a brief preview of the AFC West and how the division stacks up. Here’s a look at the top plots and subplots facing the Raiders this year.

This link highlights the potential breakout players and other players worth watching. This is a little by the numbers featurette.

Finally, here’s a week by week look at the Raiders schedule.

Enjoy!

I thought he was born in Oakland Alameda General Hospital? Along with East

  • 24

The back of the bus is the most fun…don’t mind if I do.

players/coaches/gms will be praised when they win and criticized when they lose – just the way it works…

    Just Win Baby

    Otherwise go somewhere else.

  • 24

And I’m a Bay Area Native (San Jose) so I’m Home Grown enough.

  • Raider Bren

But not too much fun, you might be asked to sit up front with the children.

Del Rio said he and general manager Reggie McKenzie have plans to add that 53rd player.

“Reggie and I have talked about that,” Del Rio said. “We have a plan and we just have to let it unfold.”

  • RaiderCODE

he’s just ‘average’ – not worth that kind of $$ if you ask me…

  • Dan78

I think we out of towners where on the bus from the get go… You home growns filled it up this year..

  • DutchRaid

Sorry, but I get sick of the statements that it doesn’t matter where the Raiders play….not many fans of teams think this way.

  • Dan78

They’ll say you moved so they’ll consider you an out of towner..

  • Post to the Ghost

You can piss off now……thank you.

  • jesusraiderjim

All he really said is “we have a plan” nothing about filling it

  • Dan78

Waiting on Reece to come back from suspension..

  • Dan78

    East is from Arkansas

  • 24

I will say this. There are MANY in Raider Nation around the world but not many who know about this blog. There are many fans who don’t talk Raiders as much or as often as us. There aren’t many who blog day to day like we do.

I think our dedication to this blog and talking Raiders almost every day puts us in the category of the Realest Raider Fans amongst them.

There are those that follow but we breathe it every day.

The reason why there isn’t a plan in place for a new stadium in Oakland is because Mark Davis doesn’t want to pay for one. I would love for the city of Oakland or Alameda County to cave and make up the difference in funds, but as it stands I am against such measures. A billionaire industry has the money. The NFL can make it happen. Instead, they run their business like the railroad tycoons of the 1800s.

  • Post to the Ghost

Good move……a hip is nothing to rush back from.

  • 24

And with what money is he going to pay for one?

Is it with the money Al Davis left under the mattress?

  • Dan78

Specially when they go full retard.. Like East..

  • BroJackson34

Apparently he’s not. lol Or so he said.

  • jesusraiderjim

JFB brought up a good point yesterday (as he usually does) 8 guys are inactive on game day so there really is no big sense of urgency

  • 24

Yeah but maybe a trade is brewing for a MLB or something? ;P

  • 24

    I just said that below.

Guess I can pat myself on the back now.

  • Orthodoxdj

That’s on him. To buy a house, I took out a loan.

  • Fugazi

Welcome to the bandwagon. The line forms in the rear

  • 24

    Haha yup.

  • jesusraiderjim

Don’t injure your hand or arm

  • PlunkforHOF

WTF is wrong with women? Nerd Girl left me a note saying I’m “too nice” to her and that she’s “human garbage” smmfh.

  • shutdown corner

Those days are rapidly coming to an end. Cities have realized that the billions spent on stadiums do not add billions in value to their towns and cost them things like teachers, fire and police. Just ask St. Louis, Oakland and San Jose. These last few years are the death knells of the NFL exhorting money out of tax payers.

  • 24

Raider fans are loyal to the core and sometimes a little greedy about it. Possessive and worthy. Raider fans have their faults. They don’t know how to share.

  • Fugazi

Naw, he’s a relocated fan. There is a difference

  • jesusraiderjim

    Interesting.

  • 24

What cracks me up is people actually ask me all the time in San Diego…

You moved to San Diego and didn’t become a Charger fan?

I’m like WHAT? Does anybody know what loyalty is? Why the eff would I do that?

  • Raider Bren

    Upgrade to a human doormat.

  • 24

    Crap…now I’m on IR.

  • Dan78

I grew up an LA Raider fan when they where in LA… Still rooted for my home team when they left… So I’m in a pickle, eh…

  • 24

    Do you own a business?

  • MEX_GHOST

No, dont worry!! Only inactive for the next game.

  • shutdown corner

you should have cornholed her while you had the chance. then you wouldn’t have been that nice.

  • Dan78

    21 just took your spot..

  • Fugazi

MY Daughter and the Grandkids moved to Texas 10 years ago and they’re still Raider fans. I have Cousins in Texas that have a table at the local sports bar to watch Raider games. The Raiders travel well

  • 24

    Guess what…

    NEXT!

There’s plenty in the sea and many more to catch. Nobody wants a spoiled fish.

  • Post to the Ghost

Nerdy girls are the dirtiest….I say have fun with it.

  • shutdown corner

If I respond with anything other than a “cheerio then”…I’ll get banned.

  • Fugazi

Nah, You’re a Raider fan from their illfated move 35 years ago. Nothing wrong with that

  • Dan78

Good advice MR… Well you just sound like him..

  • 24
  • BroJackson34

I moved away from L.A so I’m suppose to be either a Dolphins fan or a Rams fan.

The dumbest comment in blog history.

  • shutdown corner

Not MR. And he sounds like me, not vice versa.
