A new location for your Raiders coverage

Share

As many of you have already noticed, we have made some changes to the way you receive your Oakland Raiders coverage, but not the coverage itself.

The Bay Area News Group recently launched new and improved websites that function much better across all platforms (desktops, mobile, tablets) and improve our ability to get the latest news out to you as fast as possible.

With that launch, the Inside the Oakland Raiders blog will no longer be populated. The blog will still be here in an archived form, but we won’t be adding new content. What we would post here, and all the rest of our Raiders coverage — and your ability to comment on our posts — is now at EastBayTimes.com/sports/oakland-raiders and MercuryNews.com/sports/oakland-raiders.

We understand this is a stark change for many who have called this blog home over the years and generated many a hearty discussion. Rest assured, all the content that’s been available over the years on this blog will still be there on the website along with much, much more.

You’ve probably noticed the “Inside the Oakland Raiders” weekly video show, a nod to the blog’s name that will be a weekly staple throughout the season and you can find it on EastBayTimes.com here or MercuryNews.com here. There’s also the new “Raiders Talk” podcast that should come twice a week during the season and periodically throughout the offseason. The podcast is now available on iTunes.

More is certain to come as we adjust and learn everything our new websites can provide. A weekly Raiders mailbag is in the works and suggestions are always welcome if there’s a feature you might like to see.

Thanks as always for reading over the years and we hope you enjoy the new website.

    Raiders!!

  • raiderfanmikep

I think the point of the deal is to take Oakland out of the equation.. Sell the land to Lott group. Lott then teams up with Fortress and Ed Debartlo Jr and Finance a new stadium with private funds. They find a developer to come up with a New Stadium to offer to the Raiders. But the A’s have to dealt with. Who knows how long that will take.
After that is worked out, the revenue waterfall would have to be explained. who gets a cut before Mark sees any money and if Mark would just be a Renter of a priavately owned stadium..
Then it would be come a take it or leave it offer. Mark would look at all the options on how much he could make a year. Renter in Levi, Renter in LA, Renter in Oakland. plus Mark said something about an option on the Land in Vegas. So he gets a cut of any development as well as Football events in the Stadium. If Mark wants to be one of the big boys he has to take the best revenue stream for him and the other NFL owners

  • PodunkRaider (aka RRS)

    Nice take. Thanks for sharing

  • MEX_GHOST

    Yep. Almost dead.

  • diff

    Good morning

  • diff

Yes but mark will be part owner of any stadium because he is putting in money as well. $500 mil and will be paying on $300 mil of that as a loan from nfl

  • CARR SHOW (baby Al)

Lott group wants a piece of the team. It’s not happening.. so all this talk about libby lott etc is all hot air.

  • rifflicks

Lott group doesn’t have the funds or collateral to get that kind of financing……and WHO would be stupid enough to finance a project that size without a guaranteed ROI?

  • raiderfanmikep

Fortress Group they have up to 70 billion in assets to waste

  • raiderfanmikep

they havnt talked to mark about putting in money in at all.. the Vegas Stadium requires mark to pay in .. If they tell Mark his money is not needed we are getting the money straight from the NFL and will pay them back ourselves

  • rifflicks

Learn what ROI means and answer again

  • raiderfanmikep

thats why I mentioned the waterfall who gets paid first.. and how much so you can figure out your ROI and how that would impact Mark as well as Fortress or Lott

  • rifflicks

Fortress answers to it’s investors and isn’t free to throw away over a billion dollars with out an ROI set in stone…..this is nothing but a pipe dream constructed of “smoke & mirrors” and filled with hollow promises

  • CARR SHOW (baby Al)

Lott group, libby, city of Oakland.. its all a dog and pony show. We need serious investors to come in and be serious about keeping the Raiders in Oakland.

  • raiderfanmikep

yeah I dont think anything is there.. if the owners say this is nuts and go ahead and votes for Vegas to keep the tradition of public/private financing of teams at least there will be closure issue is if the NFL says “lets keep talking to Oakland” and drags it out for years. Could say “wait for A’s to move first then think of moving or a new stadium”

  • raiderfanmikep

its enought to keep the owners from voting on Vegas

  • rifflicks

B S…..that 500 Million belongs to the NFL owners….why would they authorize lending it to Oakland after they just voted for the Raiders to move to Las Vegas……your ASSumption is ridiculous

  • CARR SHOW (baby Al)

Before the Raiders faced the Texans in Mexico City, Raiders coach Jack Del Rio had a chance to talk to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell because Goodell came down for the NFL’s first foray into Mexico since 2005.

Del Rio didn’t outline the things he and Goodell spoke about, but he did share one topic that didn’t come up between the two men. Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith has applied to the league for reinstatement from suspension and he’s eligible to be reinstated, but Del Rio said his name didn’t come up while the two men were chatting.

“I did not speak with the commissioner about that,” Del Rio said, via the East Bay Times. “It was just a brief, quick conversation on the field before the game with commissioner Goodell, but that subject did not come up. I don’t have anything to add. I don’t have an update for you.”

Before Smith was eligible to be reinstated, Del Rio said the Raiders wanted to make sure Smith’s life is in order before giving serious thought to bringing him back to the team this season. The coach hasn’t shared the team’s feelings on that front, which joins the league’s silence thus far as reasons to keep the notion of Smith returning this year on the back burner.

The smart thing would be to ignore the new post (seemingly put up to thwart 100K) and just continue to post here until the goal is met.

  • Guest123
