ALAMEDA — Karl Joseph wasn’t down on himself Tuesday after the news came out that he was shifted to second-team safety on the Raiders’ depth chart for Sunday’s season-opener against the New Orleans Saints.

“I didn’t expect anything given to me,” Joseph told this newspaper. “I’ve just got to keep learning, keep getting better and keep growing as a player and everything else will fall in its place.

“I have a lot of confidence in myself and I have no doubt in myself that I’ll get my spot back.” Continue Reading

The Raiders announced three players who will not suit up for Friday’s exhibition opener against the Arizona Cardinals and safety Karl Joseph isn’t among the them.

Running back Jalen Richard, safety Jimmy Hall and cornerback Antonio Hamilton are the three who won’t suit up at University of Phoenix Stadium. Richard missed Wednesday’s practice for undisclosed reasons and Hall has missed the past four practices. Continue Reading

The rookie finally got him.

It took until Day 11 of camp, but Karl Joseph recorded his first interception in team drills when he leaped high in the air to pick off Derek Carr in the end zone.

“Finally,” Carr joked. “Great player. Karl is a great player. I’m excited that he’s on our team and healthy. He looks great. He’s going to be a great player.”

The interception came during red zone work and it was such an athletic play that Carr didn’t have a ton of issues with it, even if he does loathe turning over the ball. Continue Reading

Raiders rookie strong safety Karl Joseph knew he was going to see the field early after being drafted 14th overall by Oakland during the 2016 NFL Draft.
