Staff writers for daily newspapers don’t spend all their time on the job consulting with colleagues, combing through e-mails and text messages, or communing with their muses in order to structure the stories they want to share with readers.
Those tasks take up a fair amount of time, but the rest is often given over to legwork, shoe leather and vehicle-odometer miles (about which demographics reporter Randy Myers will have more to say in weeks to come).
The newsroom, always a challenging environment, has nothing on the call of the world outside. This weblog’s intent is to give our paper’s writers another kind of notebook to capture on-the-fly impressions and digital jottings in the course of chronicling daily events and continuing to serve and inform our community.
