I’m planning a trip back to the Bay Area end of May. Driving in the East Bay has always made me head spin, but now . . . .
Can anyone tell me the best way to get from OAK to Richmond? I’ll be heading across the Carquinez Bridge, but if I can make my way on 80 to Richmond, I’ll be happy.
Thanks,
s. rockey

I’d take surface streets past the Maze. San Pablo Ave. goes all the way from Oakland to Richmond, and you could probably also use MLK Way.

Thanks! I’ll just check a freeway map and see if I can figure out where the off-ramps are – then around Powell or Ashby, I can jump back on 80.

I moved 3,000 miles away 12 years ago after I quit a job that I had in Hayward and lived in Pinole because I was terrified of perishing on 880 or 580 after the ’89 quake (I was on 580 20 minutes before the collapse). The company I started working for in San Pablo was bought by a company in Eastern N.C. I’ve missed my homeland since. Sunday’s accident reassured me that, maybe, I’m in a better place. We just get hurricanes! But, I still miss the Bay Area!
